  1. Does anyone think that due to his lack of pace, and the possibility of Xabi leaving, Riera maybe could play more central next season and we could use the money on a world class wide player?
  2. It would be a huge loss if its true, even if we get 30 million for him. Last year I would have been content with Alonso leaving and Barry coming in. (big mistake as it turned out!) But this summer I was glad when Barry went To Man City as I thought it would mean Alonso would not be sold. If he does go he will need replacing, and with Barry now not an option, I cant think of many alternatives. Does anyone think Riera could play a more central role next season, and we could spend the money of a wide player?
  3. If They get one of Eto'o or Tevez, which I think they will, most likely Tevez then this would be there strongest team next year :- Given Zabaleta Kompany Richards Bridge De Jong Barry Tevez Ireland Robinho Santa Cruz subs, Bellamy, Jo, Caicedo,Elano, Petrov, Onuoha,Taylor quite a strong squad really, although only Robinho would be considered good enough for our first team, and his attitude and consistency leave much to be desired. I think they will be 6th this year, behind the usual suspects plus Spurs, but ahead of Villa and Everton. They must sort out there back four, Richard Dunne to Sunderland is a step in the right direction.
  4. At the very least It would guarantee no more 0-0 draws with stoke
  5. 90 grand a week!!! 17 and a half million!!! how? why? Rick Parry? I need answers!!!!
  6. Essien, Mascherano, Alonso and Gerrard across the middle, Villa, Silva, Torres and Kuyt up front with Carragher and Skrtel at the back with Pepe in goal we can rotate Kuyt with Agger depending on the strength of the opposition. could work? might cost a bit!
  7. Well he's certainly not coming here! Sky Sports | Football | News | Tevez rules out Reds move Carlos Tevez has ruled out a summer move to Liverpool, Sky Sports News sources have learned. The Argentina international, who has spent the last two seasons on loan with Manchester United, has emerged as a transfer target for a quartet of Premier League clubs. United have first option to sign the striker, whose registration is owned by a company rather than another club, but Tevez has indicated he is not happy at Old Trafford after seeing his starting options restricted this season. That has caused a scramble for his services with Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea all credited with an interest in the former West Ham favourite. However, Sky Sports News sources have been informed that a move to Anfield is not an option for Tevez. That leaves the Red Devils, their local rivals City and London outfit Chelsea battling it out to secure the energetic forward's signature for next season.
  8. If Madrid are prepared to go to 30 million for Alonso, Would 20 million plus Sneijder or van der Vaart be a good deal? Also If Glen Johnson is being paid for by the sales of Arbeloa, Dossena and Crouchy, the Alonso deal would give us an extra 20 million to spend. Which could signal a 35 million pound move for David Villa! or David Silva at the very least. I really don't want to sell Xabi though, but I think he is the most valuable of the players that could possibly be sold, which I presume is also Rafa's thinking. Also, seeing as I don't watch La Liga, what are peoples opinions on Sneidjer and Van der Vaart, who is the better player? Who in this scenario would be the better replacement for Xabi?
  9. Anything more than 7 or 8 million is way too much for Glen Johnson. Fullbacks won't make the difference as to whether we win the league or not, especially seeing as Rafa likes his defenders to defend first rather than attacking down the flanks. For this reason alone I cannot see Johnson fiiting in here. We've got Arbeloa and Aurelio plus Darby and Insua, with limited funds available we should stick with these four players, plus surely Degan will get a game ot two if he can stay fit for 5 minutes! I'd be happy this summer if we kept most of the squad from last year with one or two quality additions. David Silva for 25 million and Dossena to Juventus for 6 million, with Pennant and Hyypia off the wage bill.
  10. Whilst we're on the subject of Americans who haven't quite lived up to the hype, Whats happened to Freddy Adu? According to my version of football manager he should be the second most expensive player in the world in 5 years time and playing for Barcelona via Valencia.
  11. Celtic are a much bigger club than West Brom! I thought Celtic might have gone for a manager with European experience though. Someone who could push them on in the Champions League. Sven Goran Eriksson is still out of work but I presume he would cost too much, even the likes of Roy Hodgson and dare I say it. Steve Mclaren would have been better choices in my opinion.
  12. He might not be the answer on the pitch, but think how many shirts we would sell in America!
  13. 1. Torres is a striker not a winger 2. Torres is a really nice guy, not the definition of the word cunt 3. 40 million wouldn't even get him on loan for a season 4. Valencia is clearly the replacement for Ronaldo, alongside Zaki, Kleberson and Djemba Djemba and United will be well away next season.
  14. why is it youtube only shows the best bits of a player? I'm going to compile some footage of Saviola jogging round doing fuck all before being substituted, and stick the clips on youtube, and i'm not coming back till ive got every minute on there. See you in a few weeks!
  15. I shouldn't really have mentioned Lucas in this post, what I was really asking is do young players get enough time and chances now, compared to ten years or so? Both Gerrard and Carragher were allowed to build up experience in the first team playing at right back and centre midfield, but now they have found there best positions in Centre back and as an attacking midfield player respectively. I don't think we could afford to give young players those opportunities these days.
  16. Reading Gerrards comments on the criticism of Lucas made me think back to when both he and Carragher were starting out and how both players needed time to grow into the incredible players they are today. I remember Carra also commenting on a similar subject, saying that when he was breaking through into the first team we were in a transitional period and that it was easier, as there wasn't the added pressure of needing to finish in the top four back then either. Neither Gerrard or Carragher were overnight sensations, but were allowed that time to adapt to playing at the top level, which I think most young players wouldn't get now. Carragher in particular has amazed me by getting to the level he's at as I never thought he would be anything other than a versatile squad player. Both Gerrard and Carragher had some really awful games when they were younger, but I don't recall them getting the same levels of criticism as players such as Lucas seems to now. Is it all just because expectations are higher now and we demand instant results, or is it more to do with fearing 5th place or lower?
  17. One of my mates reckons its Sheffield United
  18. Milan have moved in to sign him as a replacement for Kaka, will try and find a source
  19. You really got my hopes up then! I still think we made a big mistake in the summer of 2007 by not snapping up Darren Bent from Charlton and signing that joker Torres instead!
  20. How many Argos vouchers are we talking? Could come in handy, does anyone know if they'e got any 70,000 seater stadiums in the Argos catalogue?
  21. That Goal at Old Trafford was worth the 7 million alone, just to see the look on the mancs faces!
  22. Its odd that we have sacked the kitman at exactly the same time we're being linked with bringing Michael Owen back to the club?
  23. The only way this might be a good idea 1. Michael Owen announces his retirement from International football. 2. He agrees to a rolling monthly contract with no basic wage, but appearance and win related bonuses. 3. He accepts his role as a squad player and is happy to be a bit part player. I can't see it to be honest.
  24. This signing would make no sense at all! If Torres was injured, Owen Couldn't replace him as a lone striker he's nowhere near good enough. We have Got Torres, Kuyt,N'gog and Nemeth plus Voronin coming back. I would rather we keep Voronin as our back up striker than bring back Owen. !!!
  25. So he wants Ribery and Alonso. Well if Bayern are demanding 74 million for Ribery, I reckon we should hold out for 60 Million for Xabi.
