  1. Agreed. Already been there today and it was superb. Just missing some ketchup. Trying to resist eating the contents of the left over christmas shortbread tin at the moment. Shortbread is always very comforting.
  2. Thankyou RD. I really enjoyed CD 2 as well and I will review tomorrow afternoon or at the weekend. I just need to get it out of RL's car as we were listening to it on the way down to Devon on New Year. I love all that bluesy, country style stuff and as I say, a full review will be forthcoming at the weekend. Rep coming your way. Cheers Santa.
  3. Indeed I did Mr. TK. I'm not sure what you what would have expected me to send but I'm glad you seem to have liked it so far. PS Redder makes the pies in this house. I'll pass on your instruction when he gets home and make sure he gets cracking in the kitchen. I'm sure he'll be thrilled. Taken my name off as well. Getting there now.
  4. The words 'white, line and suit' should never ever be placed next to each to form a phrase referring to male clothing. And besides that, white linen doesn't quite go with Fuge's Ibiza image. Bizarre.
  5. Ok, I have done some moderate research, which made for some quite interesting reading in any event as I think I missed some older music threads, but it has led me to the conclusion that my sender is ....... Red Dawn. Am I right? I also had random review rep from him the other day, which probably should have been a give away but I didn't want to read too much into that as I'd noticed a few people had stated that they had dished out 'review rep' when they weren't the sender. Anyway, there is my guess. Poor show to the non senders. EDIT: ....and TBGB, I hope your CD contains a Steps compilation, you grumpy git. Pffft.
  6. Hmmmmm..... Too soon for any revealing with so many outstanding, me thinks. What's the status regarding a little bit of musical research on other threads? I don't think I'm going to be able to guess mine so I might have to have a look around to see who it might be.
  7. Before the negging begins .... I've received a pressie and I've sent a CD which has been received. Playing by the rules.
  8. Right, review time. In general really liked both discs and there were plenty of bands that were new to me, which was good. CD 1 On the Road Again - Canned Heat Great start to the CD, particularly as I stuck it on in the car today as RL and I started driving to Devon. Love his voice - bluesy and funky. Good choice. Crystal - New Order Know a bit of New Order stuff but not this song. I have to say they're not my favourite band but liked this track. Again, I love his voice and it's got some catchy lyrics. Nice change of pace after Canned Heat as well. Heart and Soul - Joy Division Fabulous choice of band and I love the drums in this track. Not a favourite as I like the tracks with stronger vocals but still a great choice. Sexy Boy - Air Hadn't heard this for ages. Great song. As above though, I do generally prefer tracks with stronger vocals and less synth (if that makes sense). Good contrast with the Joy Division track too. Soon - My Bloody Valentine First track that I wasn't a massive fan of. It didn't make me want to skip the track but not as 'ear grabbing' as the others so far. I think it was the vocals more than anything. Violently Happy - Bjork Don't know much at all by Bjork but might be tempted to listen to some more. Quite chilled out and a bit dancey, but not overly so. Natural Blues - Moby Like this track and hadn't heard it for ages. Carrying on the chilled out theme. I Let Love in - Nick Cave Didn't know this track but I thought the contrast in styles to the last few tracks was good. His voice is superb and I might be tempted to look him up on good ol’ Spotify. My Descent into Madness - Eels Second track that I wasn't crazy about. A bit slow and I’m not mad about his voice. Some nice musical bits in it though. Also, every time I hear the start of the track with the bells my brain tells me it's that Christmas song by Wizard – worrying?! Boy in the Bubble - Paul Simon I have to say from this point onwards I enjoyed all the tracks and the CD got a lot more upbeat. Hadn't heard this for ages either – good choice. Road To Nowhere - Talking Heads Love the start of this song. Great vocals and catchy lyrics. Fitted in well with the rest of the CD too and it was a good follow on track. Fortunate Son – Credence Clearwater Revival Great guitars and great band. My Dad introduced me to these a few years ago and I like this track a lot. Kind of set the tone for CD 2 as well. Everlong – Foo Fighters Know this song well. No complaints. Baba O’Reilly – The Who Here my lack of song title knowledge became very evident. Know this track well but clearly never knew the name as I wasn’t expecting what I heard. Great track – particularly the start. Edie Ciao Baby – The Cult Don’t know anything at all by the band but liked this song. Great voice and carried on the much ‘rockier’, upbeat end to the CD. Would listen to more. God Only Knows – The Beach Boys Good change of pace and style without going back to the chilled out tracks from earlier on. Only problem is that it reminds me of ‘Love Actually’ every time I hear it, which is a bit annoying. 24 Hours – Joy Division Much faster and heavier song than the earlier Joy Division choice. Much prefer this song and great end to CD 1. I know I'm harping on about vocals again but I love his voice and the simplistic style. Superb. CD 2 review to follow shortly.
  9. A few from the holidays so far: In Bruges - 9/10 Not usually my kind of film but I thought it was brilliant; albeit, shocking in places. How to Lose Friends and Alienate People - 7/10 Not as funny as I thought it would be. Pegg had a few good lines. Worth watching. Crocodile Dundee - 9.5/10 Absolute classic. 'That's not a knife ..... this is a knife!'. Superb. Over Her Dead Body - 6/10 Silly chick flick with a half decent storyline but nothing special.
  10. Rep to Fuge (if I could). Frankly this is exactly what I was expecting from this thread. I thought there'd be comments indicating tendancies towards necrophilia and some inappropriate photos. It's sad that she died and I posted about it as it was so out of the blue. The fact that she was 32 is shocking. I also think she was a talented actress etc etc and it's a shame that she seems to have been involved in drugs, but none of this warranted pages and pages of shit rowing and some Nazi bollocks. Shame on you men of the GF. Now, post some naked pictures, say you 'still would' and get a grip.
  11. Mine really should have arrived by now. I'm monumentaly pissed off with Royal Mail at the moment. Other things which were posted that day have got there so my Secret Santa should be there too. Useless.
  12. I've sent mine too. Just so I don't get negged senseless.
  13. Where does the Woo live? Mine was an Irish package.

  15. A little bit random but I've just read on the ever reliable internet that she died this morning. She was only 32. Brittany Murphy Dies | TMZ.com I know this a predominately male forum, hence I doubt many will agree but I loved Clueless when I was younger. That's sad news.
  16. I realise that a lot of the threads that come from the Briefs/Lurtz household seem to be about injuries (i.e. broken toes and mandolin disasters etc) but I have topped them all this time. Went to the pub last night at 5ish with RL for a couple of drinks. Ended up staying out till about 12 (I think!) and drinking a lot of shots. Started walking home on the ridiculously icy streets which culminated with me slipping over, pulling RL down too, him landing on top of me and my knee is now completely fucked. I have never been in so much pain. I have no idea what I've done but I can barely move it, I can't put any weight on it and it hurts if I sit with it straight. The hospital is calling I think as soon as RL gets up and can drive me. Fuck fuck fuck. EDIT: On the plus side however, I couldn't make it up the stairs last night so slept on the sofa with the big living room tv for company. Found that I couldn't sleep so ended up watching Bill and Ted at 4am. I forgot how good 'Bogus Journey' was. Silver lining and all that.

  18. Following on from a thread a while ago about food products and because I was bored in the court waiting room at work, I made up a game to entertain myself (very productive, I know). I'll start. Sandra Bullock Michael Fish Noel Coward Seal Anymore for anymore?
