Of those four only Matip is up to required standard. Lovren is a walking brainfart and the other two simply aren't good enough. If a team has any genuine ambitions of success, a strong defence is a must. When it comes that area of the pitch we are nowhere near. .What worries me more is that either Jurgen Klopp is in denial about our defensive problems or FSG were bullshitting us about there being a "warchest".

We won't finish 3rd. Our defence will cost us too many times. We will doubtless shit the bed on occasions as well, losing against crap sides that the rest of the top 6 have hammered. 5th.

Salah looks to be a great signing. Solanke shows a lot of promise, as for Robertson, well time will tell if he's up to it. Assuming we don't sign anyone else, and reading the runes certainly gives the impression that we won't, the fact that we will have done nothing to resolve the blindingly obvious( to the world and his dog) defensive issues in the side, not to mention the lack of quality outside the starting11 is just plain and outright stupid. Not to mention the problems we have with teams who set up defensive low blocks, and the long standing issue of some of our players being mentally weak and shitting out when the opposition roll up their sleeves and battle. We barely made top 4 last season, and that was without the added burden of European football. Any injury crises like last season could see us in deep shit very quickly.

Going into another season with a dodgy back four...with the added bonus of the prospect of the brainfart on legs returning to left back (until he fucks up again).
