  1. You are ignoring the fact that there were plenty of Jews in that area as stated by other posters and their history in Jerusalem - as other posters have pointed out, so where are you going with this? The State of Israel exists, what is your suggestion to end the conflict - if Hamas and its ilk won't stop with the rockets and acknowledge Israel's right to exist, what do you suggest? stop looking backwards in order to justify what Hamas is doing - Israel is not going away. The simple fact is, when they stop, Hamas continues. There is a lot of anti American and anti Israeli commentary on here - and lets face it, understandable in this situation, but I only see a few posters with suggestions as to how to end it. The rest is just vitriolic attacks on two countries that frankly, I would rather live in or next to than any Arab state.
  2. Just a minute - ask yourself why? Forget about who has what weapons (the israelis really don't need the US for weapons, I don't think) - your focus on big dog little dog is misleading. The reason for this conflict is that Israel is a state that is not acknowedged as having a right to exist by the Palestinians and they won't stop with the rockets etc. Further, they are being used by the Iranians but lets ignore that for now. Are you saying that whatever the differential in strength, that the Israelis should ignore the thousands of the rockets and bombs being lobbed at them? What would you do in this situation then - leave your country to them, and where would you go? Seriously, what would you do if you were Israel?
  3. You left out the part where Hamas doesn't acknowledge the other side's right to exist as a state. The entire conflict rests on this. Also, as many muslims have pointed out, school age kids are raised thinking that Jews eat babies. There may not be a right side, it does take two to tango, but one side is working on the right to live and the other is not. One side questions itself constantly, the other side kills people who may disagree. One side has contibuted and continues to contribute to advances in medicine and technology, the other wants to import rockets instead of getting on with their lives. Both sides have their nutcases, granted - that is common everywhere.
  4. That is silly - they knew what the situation was when they hired him - its about the kids - the club has got Suarez and the back line to resign based on the rebuilding plan going forward - BR will be afforded the time to bring them along - now put your redrazor away and don't slit your wrists! There is such a desire for negativity here - its depressing. Todays game should be seen exactly how BR has portrayed it - lots of youth giving NU a real go.
  5. Accurate observation - posters on here remind me of Marvin the depressed robot on Hitchhikers Guide to the Universe - except not as intelligent of course.
  6. We have a league like this in Vancouver Metro area - BC oldtimers league - I have played O40/O50 and now in O55's - actually gets quite feisty at times, I love it. We have a smattering of ex pros in the league which keeps the level up, but we have a saying "age is the great equalizer" :(
  7. Exactly, zigackly - we are into a process now, of investment in the future with this manager. Investing in a system and with younger players coming on. The cost of this investment is losing, hopefully not too often, but it is going to happen, and we have to take our joy from the players developing during the process - for example, it was only Young Boys and we gave up 3 lousy goals, but I enjoyed seeing what certain players did, coming from behind. Shelvey, Suso, etc, give me hope for the future. Can't get too upset with results unless it looks like the investment is not paying off and I don't see that with this group.
  8. I don't get it - Carroll was spectacularly unsuited to play in a system BR is committed to - whether or not we signed a striker - he was useless to us going forward. Also, we have just come through a period where we paid stupid money for players, now we have stopped, and are holding to our own valuation of players and people are pissed off now that we didn't pay more when Fulham wanted more - the whining and hand wringing and finger pointing going on here puts the supporters in a very bad light - grow some stones and support our new way forward.
  9. I agree with this - I don't think it makes sense to question why players were moved on - we had a crap year did we not? Kuyt burned out, and Maxi and Bellamy were on last legs as well. They needed to go and won't be the last to go either. Borini has time on his side and Rogers obviously rates him - lets support the players as they grow into this side - time is required, and time will tell.
  10. I don't disagree with this "priming of the pump" approach - I think that they tried that with Kenny but got their fingers burnt. In the book "Soccernomics" (cringeworthy title) the writers make some generalizations about first year managers' purchases, and state that almost always there is big money spent with poor results. FSG probably understand this now and want to see how BR buys with a limited budget before opening the vault. Certainly, the investors in FSG have the dough. They have said that it will be a multi year process.
  11. I don't know about that - I live in Vancouver, we have a big Sikh/Indo community here and there is a huge love for Livepool Football Club that has been there for a long time. Certainly, the recently success of some other clubs has given rise to success driven fandom for them, but I think that most fans wherever they are have some feeling of the tradition of football and its a family thing. 2 of my 3 sons are supporters with me, and the other one I dispare of, but even he shows some respect for Anfield and its traditions. I think this holds true across the world in this club's case. There is huge love. Having said that, I agree that the club has to show progress in getting back to past glories - what else should a good club's objective be??
  12. Agreed - 10/10 Moody - his response could be addressed to others as well.
  13. Totally agree - I think the opposite to Code - our cup results disguised some facts that Rogers is trying to address this year - older players on high wages underperforming - I can't imagine another year with a burned out Kuyt, a Maxi on the bench and Henderson playing the wing. There are more to clear out as well. I believe that opposition to removing Kenny is blinding people to the issue with the players, ie, any move by Rogers is wrong - this is bollocks and unjustified.
  14. But its a crap firearm, not as good as the one he used to have - surely it won't work? OOOOPS
  15. Steady on there - the Olympics have delayed some transfer dealings and although there are no guarantees, I think this what we might look like after transfers - Pepe Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique Lucas Ramirez Allen Gerrard Borini Suarez With Henderson, Shelvey, Sterling, Kelly, Robinson, some other kids and another signing, I would say that is not a bad team - never mind Cole, Adam, and Downing, (assuming Andy is on his way) Sell a couple more and fund another good finisher and Bob's your uncle.
  16. You are normally one of the best posters on here, but there are some real holes in the argument - I agree that there may be a different level of knowledge of football culture, but take issue with the level of knowledge of the game. In fact, I would say that the cultural aspect of the game in your neck of the woods is detrimental to the english game. I have seen posters whining about the lack of natural wingers in an era when the fullbacks do the overlapping to provide width - an natural inclination to 442 when that is old hat. Don't tell me that knowledge or lack of knowledge is area specific - if England doesn't get with the modern game the US will overtake you in 20 years - culture or no culture, they study the game and have a bigger population than England and are, it seems, better prepared to change things that need changing. Sorry to ramble, but just because someone is from somewhere, has NO bearing on their understanding of the game :wallbutt:
  17. The second half was more exciting, but the first half was not shit - the players executed what Rogers wants more than in the second half - the possession was way higher for us in the first half. I thought Pacheco did well down the left side, but Morgan Suso and Sterling were harder to contain, mind you, Toronto had a younger side out in the second half. As said, early days, lots of work to do - I would caution against too many conclusions regarding Suso and Sterling from todays work - in some cases they were up against their own age group, as Toronto's youth played as much as ours did.
  18. Cole - needs to pick it up Sterling - aggressive and lively Suso - would like to see more of him on the ball Shelvey - very assurred and strong Adam and Aquilani looked ok moving the ball Nobody standing out either way which is to be expected Nice to see the young ones play
  19. First time post - I watched this game here in Vancouver. I have never seen a Liverpool team with such bad passing abilities. Over the head, behind the man, made where its easy to pick off by the defender. The number of touches Lucas takes before letting it goes virtually assures a turnover, or a kick up the backside for Torres. Kelly - a keeper for sure Skrtel - unload Agger - I liked it Lucas - c'mon get the lead out. Poulsen - get rid - if we had not played Sunday would he get in? Meireles - you are in England now, not Portugal, wake up Reina - a star Torres - it can only get better lad - nice goal
