  1. Don't start with this shit again. Bean eating freakery.
  2. A Bank Holiday is too small a celebration. Maybe when we build that Death Star ? In memory ?
  3. CD cover design was a picture of Dennis the Menace by the way. Tooled up with pea shooters, catapults, water bombs. Looking for madness by the look of him !
  4. SS 2013, here we go... The CD was called Random as Dennis, flip-flopping between genius and madness. CD1 – On Meds Quiet, contemplative, with brief spikes of lunacy. Lithium music. Play Quite Loud. Use Me - Bill Withers - Good start to the album. 70’s blues. Great vocal. Carol Kaye – Laura Veirs – A girl and a guitar. Not so ! I thought it reminded me of Simon and Garfunkel, sure enough she played bass for them in the 60’s. Very good. Between the Wars – Billy Bragg – A song from the time of the miners strike in the 80’s. As always, excellent stuff from Billy. Everything Happens to Me – Chet Baker – Timeless. Maybe one for a moment with a special lady ! Who sang this version mate ? Say You Don’t Mind – Colin Blunstone – Former member of The Zombies with 70’s pop. So-so. Just a Little Bit of Love – Curtis Mayfield – Classic R&B. Very good. Solid Air – John Martyn – Class. Jazz Folk. Went to see John at a gig in the mid 90’s. RIP. Sha la la – Al Green – You know what you’re going to get with Al Green. Feel good tunes. Mercy – Prefab Sprout – Hmm. One that took me by surprise. Maybe it’s because I’ve not heard them do stuff like this before ? Acapella, not bad. Blue Bleezing Blind Drunk – The Unthanks – Thought they were Irish by the sounds of them ! English Folk, was worth a listen but not my bag really. Better Off Dead – Randy Newman –Sounds a bit like Phil Lynott. Never a bad thing. Say Yes – Elliot Smith – Was on the Good Will Hunting soundtrack from the 1997 album Either / Or. Might have to invest in that. Like it. Like the Morning Dew – Laura Mvula – A Brummie, so close to my old stomping ground ! Not bad. Might give her stuff a listen too. Ten Women – Conor Oberst – Not really one for me. Well put together song though. Living Without You – Harry Nilsson – My dad used to listen to Nilsson ! I can see why. This is a great song. A lot of heart. Joke ( I’m Laughing ) –Eddi Reader – I’ve heard of her, and will give her a listen after hearing this. Great voice, love the harmonies. It’s a yes from me ! Secret Heart – Ron Sexsmith – Something I would have listened to before and liked a lot ! Watch Your Step – Elvis Costello (?) – Presume it was. Quality from him, as always. The Power of Love – Gabrielle Aplin (?) – Prefer the Frankie version, but what a belter of a voice ! Great finish to disc one. CD2 – Off Meds Madness, depression, madness, with occasional bouts of genius. Play Very Loud. Dig, Lazarus, Dig !! – Nick Cave – The theme of the CD in a nutshell for me ! Genius madness. I have to listen to more of Nick Cave, been saying that for years. I will now. Rise Up With Fists – Jenny Lewis – Indie rock, some good stuff here. The Other Side of Summer – Elvis Costello – Costello, enough said. This Orient – Foals – Liked it. Heard of them, will listen to more from them. Fair Game – The Like – Reminded me of the female vocals from B52’s. Not bad. Revenge – Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse – Bit too low key to follow the previous one. For me. Bad Ambassador – The Divine Comedy – Big fan. Worked for me. 36 Inches High – Nick Lowe – Ah very good ! Never heard of him. I read the blurb on the web for this album from the 70’s, I’ll check it out. Grooving rock number. GMF – John Grant – Folk rock. Not really my kinda stuff. Listenable though. A Real Mother For Ya – Johnny Guitar Watson – Brilliant ! 70’s disco funk. I was getting down yo. Google his picture. Legend ! This is love – PJ Harvey – Good track from PJ. I have some of her stuff. When You Walk In The Room – Fyfe Dangerfield – I remember him from The Guillemots. Not bad this, not bad at all. Indie rock. Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots ( part 1) – Flaming Lips – Very good. Psychedelic stuff. I have some of their stuff. KV Crimes – Kurt Vile – Indie rock. Like the edge to this. I’ll be listening to more here. Don’t Let Him Waste Your Time – Jarvis Cocker – 90’s legend. Always will be a fan. Him and Pulp. Bitch Went Nuts – Ben Folds – Hahahahaha ! Best opening lines ever ! Great tune. If you haven’t heard it, YouTube it. Now. Bitch Went Nuts – Ben Folds – Another bitch going nuts ! Not sure if it’s the same one. Different story and music this time. I Wear Your Ring – Cocteau Twins – Nice way to end the album. I’d be a fan. Alt rock / ethereal. Amazing vocals, leading us into the white van, and the nice people with the soothing needle... I need to say thanks to my SS. The CD theme was about the random of Dennis, perfectly captured I think ! I enjoyed everything I listened to, obviously some stuff I will listen more to of. Fair play for sending a whopping 37 tracks. I salute you. Who ? Was it Skids, Stringy, or Lurtz ?
  5. Apologies for the review delay. I'll get it up in the next 2 days. Cheers SS.
  6. I bet your new Chelsea friends wouldn't check all that for you Si.....
  7. Christ, Simon..... Someone from their support think we're bitter and twisted ? For every ONE of them we have one thousand, and the millions of fans we have compared to their hundreds can go fuck themselves. Like a lot of people have said they seem to be keen to invent this rivalry between us that never was ? Embarrassing. They, like they always will, can go and fuck themselves.
  8. My CD arrived today ! Score. I'll give " Random as Dennis " a listen and be back with a review.
  9. It was me !!! No worries about that mate. Music is subjective, otherwise it would all be a bit boring really. Glad you liked some of it at least, and the chocs went down well. Bit of a correction, Secret Santa was disc 1 and Hidden was disc 2. Tried to keep the first disc 2013 new releases, and the 2nd a little bit of everything. Thanks for the review mate, nice to be appreciated ! No sign of mine yet. Any word Jon ?

  20. World War Z in my ass. That's Michelle Keegan by the way.
  21. Lord Rothermere was a friend of Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler, and directed the Mail's editorial stance towards them in the 1930s. Rothermere's 1933 leader "Youth Triumphant" praised the new Nazi regime's accomplishments, and was subsequently used as propaganda by them. In it, Rothermere predicted that "The minor misdeeds of individual Nazis would be submerged by the immense benefits the new regime is already bestowing upon Germany". Rothermere and the Mail were also editorially sympathetic to Oswald Mosley and the British Union of Fascists. Rothermere wrote an article entitled "Hurrah for the Blackshirts" in January 1934, praising Mosley for his "sound, commonsense, Conservative doctrine". Daily Mail - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
