  1. Cheers Andy. No fear of becoming a skinny mess. Haven't been skinny since I was 14, and I like my grub too much. As for this 5/2 thing, it's just to get a start with things. The cycling will take off bigtime once the clocks change and I can get out in the evenings. So if I can do this for the few weeks until then, get back down to around 195 and start the season on the front foot, I'd be fucking buzzing. Can worry about doing things properly from there.
  2. Never tried it. Himself is ripped to shit though. Proper fit cunt. And damn the rest of ye for yere sensible advice! If I was good enough to do the "eat less exercise more" thing, I'd have done it ages ago! So I'm gonna start this tomorrow. I've always been good at going a long time without food, so the fast days don't worry me. I'll start tomorrow, but from next week I'll be doing Monday and Wednesday. What I'd like to know is what's the best option for the fast day? I've read about the 600 calories per day, and I've also read about doing a 24 hour fast. So what would give the best results..... 1 - Eat 600 calories tomorrow divided up over the day. 2 - Eat 600 calories tomorrow for breakfast and not eat again until Saturday morning. 3 - Have a massive feed tonight before bed, have nothing all day tomorrow, and eat again Saturday morning? Thanks.
  3. Not yet Andy. It does sound very doable though. Ideally I could tie it in with the 5:2 thing.
  4. I hear ya on all the above...especially the fad dietting! Have done enough of them. And I appreciate the sound "eat less, exercise more" advice. The reason this 5:2 thing appeals to be though is that it's pretty much what I do at the minute anyway...just more organised. I genuinely think that it could be a "way of life" for me. I'm a creature of structure (more or less) and find it easy to stick to things that work*. * - Found the Keto diet a piece of piss to do. Just found it very expensive to maintain!
  5. Aye, that's the one. Himself and some Harvie girl wrote the book. You sound like my missus. She's stick thin and has to eat every few hours or she'll fall over. Greyhound breed. Whereas I'd get up at 6 with the young fella, drop the other fella to school for 9, get into work for 9.15, and have a bite to eat around 10. Depending on the size of the brekkie, I could go without until dinner time or sometimes later. Other days then I'd have the same start, but be picking all day. End up absolutely stuffed by 8pm, but I'd still have chocolate or whatever before bed! So the 2 days don't phase me in the slightest. AFAIK men can have 600 calories of high protien/low carb food on their "starve days". I'd have no problem knocking that back at breakfast and doing without until the day after. Don't know whether that's better than 2x300 cal meals though. Or playing the ball on a stomach that's empty for 10 hours? Or doing a Monday and Wednesday when Monday and Thursday would be better (2x600 cal days in a row might be a bit much!)?
  6. After starting at 210lbs in June last year, and gradually working my way down using diet and exercise/cycling (thanks Anny Road!), I peaked at a low of 193lbs, which is the lowest I'd been for manys a year. Unfortunately since cycling stopped (October), the weight has crept up and I'm now up to 203lbs, 10lbs up from my best but luckily 7lbs down from my top mark. So before things get back to where they were, I'm gonna get stuck in and lose the weight again. I went for a 40k cycle at the weekend and even though it was tough (constant wind and hills), I made it through. It did show me how much I'd let myself go though. I listened to a podcast this morning about this 2 day diet thing and it intrigued me bigtime. Probably because I have no problem having a breakfast and not eating again until the day after. It was a vague enough podcast though, as obviously the authors didn't want to give much away...buy the book! So does anyone know anything about it? If I went for it, I'd be hoping to to a Monday and a Wednesday. I play ball on a Monday evening though and ignoring the fatigue factor, could I do damage running on empty? Is it better to do both days together or space them out? Had a search for diet threads, and the one where someone was looking to get a 6 pack, but couldn't find them. Thanks lads.
  7. Where the fuck are all these 14 year olds with bodies like Sharapova?
  8. What's going on in the first and third clips? Are they sonic booms or something? The second clip is class.
  9. In all fairness to the guy, he couldn't kick her out.
  10. You can't honestly believe that Rafa's team with Masch, Momo and Carra in it lacked fight? Or "Ged's team" that won the CL in 2005 lacked fight coming from 3 down?
  11. Fuck off Sky with yere pro United bias. Started their report this morning with "some people are calling it 'the perfect match'". No! Some people aren't.....ye are! Don't remember this sort of build up when we played (and stonked) Madrid a few years back, even though we were rated number one in Europe at the time and have a better European record than the Mancs. I always want them to get beaten, but I want them to get absolutely fucking stuffed. 4 or 5 nil, with Madrid having 70%+ possession and play them off the park. Then let be known as " the perfect match", like us against Forest all those years ago. Probably no need for a new thread like, but just wanted to vent!
  12. I love women. Fucking awesome.
  13. Head over to the GF and check out the Upton and Pallett threads. Helps take your mind off things no end.
  14. Not good. Not good at all. We're so dependant on Sturridge already it silly. Gonna crack open my 400g bar of Dairymilk and eat every fucking bit of it. That's right, I said it.
  15. Near on everyone. Always along the lines of "Gerrard's performances are inspirational, but Carra should be captain as he does all the talking on the pitch."
  16. Same used to be said about Gerrard. Peep will probably be gone, so it's between Lucas and Luis. Probably Lucas.
  17. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Rafa would piss the league if he had that Man. City squad.
  18. Brother-in-law is already one of the coaches, but there's fuck all pull at the minute. 3 classes got cut down to 2, so after siblings, teachers kids, etc. there's only 8 places up for grabs. I'd throw a few fifties into an envelope easier than I'd write this fucking letter!
  19. Nice one. I'm on your side about the arse licking, but apparently if you make an effort to do the Irish letter thing, they reckon that you'll make the effort with the kid during the year or whatever. As for the PROC, I'm pure Cork like so no fear there. Potatoes.
  20. Afternoon all. We're trying to get the young fella into a local Irish school and need to write a bit of a crawling letter to help his chances. I've already written it as béarla and need someone to translate it for us. So if anyone has a fair ol' grasp of our mother tongue, would they mind getting in touch? Mucho danke.
