  1. Just hope the tiago deal falling through doesnt have a knock on affect. Ultimately though masch wants to play for us and with this re financing id like to think we can now get him signed.
  2. Gerrard. Quite simply the best footballer to wear the red shirt during my generation. He's always the player we look to when we need rescuing and he often delivers when it matters. Think he often gets overlooked by some liverpool fans because of the chelsea business but will probably go down as the 1st or 2nd behind dalglish best player to ever play for the club.
  3. I dont think he deserves the sack now. Remember we've still got 2 trophies to play for and you would still expect us to qualify for the champs league. However if we win nothing, and dont finish in the top 4 then I expect he would be sacked and I think even the biggest Rafa fans would find it hard to argue with the decision. The facts of the matter are we have more world class players than any one out the top 4, we have spent more money in rafas reign (im guessing here) than anybody below us and we're liverpool. Finishing out of the top 4 and wining nothing would represent massive underachievment. The problem would be there is no point sacking a manager unless you have an adequate replacement.
  4. I agree with a lot that is being said but dont you think as a set of fans we are slightly overlooking the fact that our side is underperforming and that for one reason or another the manger isnt getting the best out of them.
  5. could you imagine fat sam taking over. Diouf would come back and he would probably wheel someone like john fashanu out of retirement and instruct riise to launch long balls at his suede.
  6. I think he will be a very good player. But cant really see Arsenal loaning him to us!! We'd probably have to spend daft money for him an thats if wenger would even sell him in the first place. Like some have already mentioned play babel up front with torres and lets make our next priority (after signing masch which according to the echo they think IS going to happen) signing a top wide player. I think as a club if we intend on playing 4 4 2 we need to go out and bite the bullet and spend big money on a winger - left or right. Our wide players are just not in the same class as the rest of our team - in my opinion.
  7. Chelsea every day not that I like them either. However we all know chelsea are a good team thanks to Rmans millions. Everton on the other hand are a pack of bitter twats who use every opportunity to slag Liverpool off. Moyes does it, their players do it and their fans do it. If they win you could just see someone like Tim Cahill saying they are now a better team than we are or something like that. I couldnt bear the thought of all the Everton fans I know going on about their trip to wembley and how they are getting back to what they once where. The thought of it is actually making me feel quite sick
  8. Surely with sissoko going we will be able to buy him? Agree with a couple of the earlier posts that the passion he shows for the club is immense
  9. Thought he was excellent last night. Is it just a case of us trying to offload sissoko so we can sign him?? Disagree with the post saying his passing was shit. I think masch is a good passer of the ball. He isnt creative but I dont think he gives a ball away either
  10. Probably would score a few mate yeah. Think it was just under 10 million they paid.
  11. True. Defo need someone whos gonna be a threat as we always say Ian, we've been lacking in this area for years and to be honest mate I dont think were gonna win the league till we sign at least 1 top wide player. I quite like bentley aswell but its prob still a risk regarding both players as they would prob cost in the 15-20 million bracket I would have thought. But need to bite the bullet on a wide player sooner or later. ps get babel through the middle an lets see what he can really do.
  12. This is top assists in the prem league this season.
  13. As my previous post Young is actually 22. Heres a few stats people may be interested in. Our Stevie is on the list anyway!! Ashley Young Aston Villa 12 Cesc Fabregas Arsenal 10 Dimitar Berbatov Tottenham Hotspur 9 Kenwyne Jones Sunderland 8 Salomon Kalou Chelsea 8 Nicky Shorey Reading 8 Carlton Cole West Ham 7 Steven Gerrard Liverpool 7 Wayne Rooney Manchester United 7 Mikel Arteta Everton 6 David Bentley Blackburn Rovers 6 El Hadji Diouf Bolton Wanderers 6 Robbie Keane Tottenham Hotspur 6 Frank Lampard Chelsea 6 Martin Petrov Sunderland 6 Carlos Tevez Manchester United 6 Gabriel Agbonlahor Aston Villa 5 Gareth Barry Aston Villa 5 Elano Manchester City 5
  14. Need a win tonight no doubt about it. Id like skirtel to play alongside carragher an give Hypia a rest - plus he is supposed to be reasonably quick(although we have heard that before - shaun dundee) may help against villa's style of play. To be honest im quite interested to see Ashley Young play. Apparently he has 17or 18 assists this season and has set up every goal bar 2 that agbonlahor has scored. Only 19 aswell I think. Potential future signing?? Anyway need to go at them from the first whistle and im sure we will be ok.
  15. An although we all know it goes on it doesnt appear like it was done for footballing reasons. We all know that clubs usually line someone up but to do it because of a disagreement over resources after they bought liverpool under the pretense that they would take us up a level in terms of our financial capabilities shows them for what they are. What I think concerns me the most is their arrogance. They openly admit to knowing very little about football but feel it isnt a big deal to sack a manager months after taking over the club and appoint someone who they believe to be an "impressive man"
  16. Perhaps they are trying to get Rafa to jump before he is pushed. They may feel by him resigning it would solve their problem in that they dont want him managing the club and yet they wouldnt look like the bastards who had sacked him. Obviously it wouldnt take a genius to work out that if he resigns it is because they have made his position impossible.
  17. Possibly. you could say he enticed you into his hotel with a hershe bar and then proceeded to do the deed while playin born in the USA on repeat in the background. As the earlier conversation im sure he has previous for it. Just ask Rick Parry.
  18. I agree with that. The americans constant talking in the press is making us big news for the wrong reasons. But Newcastle are an utter enbarassment. Pay daft money for players, then pay the players daft money so they sign, sack managers 6 months into the job. Then they go on about being a big club after the success (or lack of it) they have had. An their treatment of Bobby Robson was appalling. An I cant stick the fans. Any group of fans who have a song where the fans say they are mental and mad go down in my estimation. Im of the opinion that people who say they are mad are usually far from it.
  19. Dont know about by Rafa but maybe by the players for the first hour. For right or for wrong though when you see how much shit is going on at the moment I suppose its not that surprising that our form has been poor. They probably dont know who is goin to be the manager/owner of the club from one month to the next and it is unsettling.
  20. Im gettin images of foster gillete drilling rick parry while tom and george watch on. I best stop there eh.
  21. Ive got to admit this latest outbirst by hicks really highlights their lack of understanding about the club. I blame roman abramovich! Its been going daft for a while but when that russian twat came in everybody looked for foreign investment to try to compete. Some have benefited and others have been dry power bummed - LFC being the one with sore-ist arse.
  22. Ive got to admit this is very concering. I cant understand why they would come out and say this now unless it is some misguided attempt by the yanks to warn Benitez that the team has to kick on or he will lose his job. Do they think the fans are stupid enough to believe everything is absolutely fine because they have said this - fuck knows. If I was Benitez I would be fuckin livid. Even if he knew what they were up to behind his back for them to announce it publicly must be extremely enbarassing for him and it is bang out or order in my opinion.
  23. i think its clear you dont like the guy!! ha ha To be honest though at the risk of repeating myself I didnt like some of the things he did when he was manager of Chelsea but when I see him being interviewed when he isnt trying to wind people up I think he comes across well. I also like the way the vast majority of players talk about him whether it be ex porto players or chelsea players. Even our very own stevie G wanted to play for him. It quite clear that the players love playing for him and rate him very highly. As far as Im concered hes a top manager and if benitez was to lose his job and hes available I would want him. I see people saying they would rather John Toshack - well if thats the case then thats your opinion but I will not be agreeing with that. The other point of comparing him to hitler by some people get a grip!! Oh and in regard to the gerrard/chelsea business I wasnt on here when all that went off so i dont know your standpoint on that but I think i can guess. But anyone who criticises steven gerrard needs their fuckin head testing. Hes probable the best player to ever come through Liverpools ranks and without him Im dupious as to whether we would have won fuck all in the last 4 years.
