Would rather Gerrard. Agree with jamie Carragher that there probably isnt a player in world football who could contribute to Liverpool what gerrard does. On another note thought it was babel's best game. Looked dangerous all match. Cant help but saying I dont know how Babel being praised turns into sly digs at Gerrard. If it was Rashid doing it with Benitez loads of you would be giving him shit but apparently its perfectly acceptable to do it to Gerrard.

I like aldridge and I wouldnt be complaining if that happened. Could see Gary Mac being back at the club in some capacity in the future

OWEN was a top player for Liverpool. He should have showed more commitment to the Benitez era but I dont agree with slagging him off. He was a young lad when he left and he made a mistake and im sure he would admit it. Rush made that same mistake when he went to italy the only difference being Rush got the opportunity to come back and Rush played in a stronger Liverpool team. Do you slag Ian Rush off, nah didnt think so.

Those who criticise gerrard are a fuckin joke. what does the guy have to do. Theres too many of you to pinpoint but you dont deserve him playing for your club.

I think the main factor is that teams dont play the same way against us as they do as they do against them. If they finish 4th and next yr teams sit back and defend against them as they do the top sides we will see how they get on them. ps couldnt believe it was the same man city side after the way they defended against us.

Didnt particularly like everything he did but he won us the uefa cup and put us back on the map in europe in doing so. We finished as high in the league as we did under Rafa and admittedly he was making more mistakes towards the end - but thats what they were - mistakes.He never plotted our fuckin downfall. In my opinion he definitely deserves a 1 yr extension. he would be 4th choice next year and Im sure he is aware of that but his love for the club makes him want to stay. Get him signed up. He has been as good as carra more often that not this season and deserves it on merit not sentiment. I was thinking at the back end of last season he was gone and he has proved me wrong. I think im somewhere in the middle with the whole Rafa debate. Dont like us sacking managers and some of the things he does/says make me think he can make us a great prem team. Him winning the champs league should also give him more time than usual to improve us domestically. On the flip side I dont like his usage of some of our players kuyt/babel/crouch etc for differing reasons and I sometimes think his management skills or how I perceive him to man manage could be drastically improved on

Ha Ha. I appreciate Kuyt working qualities but do you genunely think he doesnt need improving on if a. he plays up front or b. he playes wide right of 3 like he did yesterday. I think some people think saying a player is not good enough on a forum is being unsupportive of the club. As for Voranin I think his goal rate for a striker highlights his use. sell him in the summer surely. People over analyse things.

thats true. As a kid I used to always listen to the phone-ins after games but I cannot stick it now. I find it so embarrassing sitting there as someone who loves the club and here them say things like "we should go and sign messi" They either state the ludicrous or are just negative to the point where you want to jump out your car window. As for that "your on sky sports" I think they only let secure wards of hospitals phone in. Some of the fuckin lunatics you get on that. Needless to say I havent watched the programme for ages.

Dont get me wrong - every manager will make mistakes in the market. I do feel however if left in charge by the yanks he will have to sign a top wide player this summer. I think we are very strong in defence - perhaps need to look at the left back position. I think we are very good in centre mid and obviously torres is class up front and I think if given time, crouch or babel could complement him well. I just look at our wide players and I dont think we are much better than a mid table side out wide and I think the signings made for these positions havent been good enough. It would be interesting to know who they are interested in for the wide positions

You make some good points but the only people I meet who think Rafa is going to win the league at Liverpool are people on this website. Could there be an argument that there is a lot of biased people on here including myself and that is affecting people's opinions. You cant argue with some of the stats you are presenting but on the flip side I think over 3 1/2 years in a job and spending well over 100 million should have enabled Rafa to sign a top wide player! you can blame inflated prices whatever and I agree wide players are expensive but we have spent a lot of money on players not good enough within Rafa's reign

I guess there are similarities. Personally I think Rafa is an excellent manager but I do question his tactics/team selections at times and im dubious as to whether he will do it domestically however I admit I never used to be - I used to just think it was a matter of time but now im not so sure. However I feel more identity with gerrard probable coz hes local, and has been at the club since he was 9 years old. I also feel he has dug us out the shit on numerous occasions thanks to his genius rather than different manager's tactics. The cup final last minute equaliser is the one that stands out along with olypiakos. In a time when clubs are losing identity being manged by foreign managers, filled with foreign players and youth academy's filled with foreign kids we have the best centre mid in the world and hes from Huyton an hes livin the dream!!!

Im not a big fan of the guy to be honest. Hopefully he will stay fit and start to perform but as it is I havent seen anything that makes me think he is going to command the Liverpool left back slot for years to come. Know where you coming from but cant accept that line mate!! It was only yesterday people were slagging him for not coming out and supporting benitez! Its time for people to give the lad the respect he deserves and for some our signings to stand up and be counted on days when gerrard isnt at his best.

Anyone who knows me will know how highly I rate Gerrard and I always have done since I seen him play as a youth player. Im sure there wouldnt have been an appreciation thread if he hadnt scored because quite simply I dont think a lot of fans do appreciate him as much as they should - especially on here. I thought first half he was ok. second half I thought he was defo the best player on the park and capped it with not only a great goal but an unbelievably important goal. Mascherano is a great defensive player but you arent going to get him breaking down defences when it matters. People are saying on here Lucas played well - he was ok in my opinion but if gerrard would have played the same as Lucas he would have been criticised for being shit. I think because of the standards he has set the expectation of him is so high yet for me more often than not he delivers. To be honest with you I dont know what he has to do to get the respect he deserves at this club by some of our fans. I suppose Im the type of person who feels proud that stevie G a guy who is regarded as the best centre mid in world footie by many an is from the area and goes out on produces for our club on a regular basis having been a fan as a kid himself. So when I see him being criticised and I think of all them great moments he has generated over the years playing for Liverpool It just fuckin disguists me.
