  1. Poor man's Aaron Lennon or that other winger Spurs had who looked good briefly, Townsend was it? Thought he'd have covered the hole left by Sterling this term but he's faded away.
  2. My main concern with them from the start was that they needed to have individuals over here running the club who had vast experience in all matters football. 5 years on and we still have Ian Ayre, Mike Gordon, et al. And ex Crusaders (of Irish league fame) centre half Hunter on the infamous committee with Fallows and one or two 'analysts' whose names I don't recall and can't be bothered to google. And allegedly they're making decisions on signings and then sending Ayre jetting off to handle negotiations. And we wonder why things go wrong. It would be a miracle if things actually went right.
  3. Another player who gets better by the week by not actually playing for Liverpool. He was awful here. But he prob seems good because we've since taken awful to a whole new level.
  4. Can't we get some rep from one of the Groups organising this to get on sky and rip the fuck out of what Ayre is claiming? Most neutrals will listen to him bang on about his £9 tickets & favouring locals and wonder what we're moaning about.
  5. He's so fucking ace though when he plays, and especially when we've currently got the square root of fuck all in terms of scoring, that you're dying for him to burst back on the scene with a hatfull of goals. For that reason alone I want him to get this one chance and steam back into it. Won't happen like, he'll steam back, score a few goals, then limp back out for 6 months. But the Euros are around the corner so he may prove me wrong.
  6. The day we get rid of Ayre and hopefully Hunter et al off that fucking committee will be akin to the day we signed Dalglish.
  7. Meanwhile elsewhere..... Rich Premier League clubs can't agree on way forward to help away fans Clubs spent more time debating issue than any other at London meeting Big clubs vote against proposal to cap tickets for away fans at £30 Norwich chairman and former Chancellor Ed Balls present at summit The richest league in the world received confirmation of their extraordinary £8billion-plus haul from TV rights on Thursday, yet couldn’t agree the way forward to help away fans. The 20 Premier League clubs, despite being awash with money over the next three seasons (£5.1bn domestic and £3bn overseas), spent more time debating the issue of assisting travelling supporters than any other item on the agenda during a five-and-a-half-hour meeting in London. The big clubs, as usual, were against the sensible proposal to cap away tickets at £30, although Everton spoke loudly in favour. In a secret ballot, seven or eight clubs are understood to have opposed the capping — those led by greedy Arsenal who charge away supporters the most — leaving the Premier League short of the 14-club majority needed to make such changes. The proposal will be back on the table at the March meeting after clubs voted heavily against the compromise of a funding arrangement where clubs would get money to help travelling supporters which they could use in varied ways. 8. I'm 46 and first games I rem going to was 78/79 season. This is the poorest in my opinion. And I mean the starting 11 over the last couple of months. If by some miracle Sturridge and coutinho get back and hit form then it may bring them up above Souness worse team. Even in his poor sides we still had a sprinkling of albeit ageing greats like rush, Barnes, whelan and fowler then breaking through. think we're prob set for our lowest league finish since I started watching them.
  9. Depressing stuff. Didn't even make an effort to catch it on some stream last night as I knew it would be the same old. Only we could put out bad news re ticket prices (& it is rip-off news despite the 'spin' from the club) on the very day such an abject performance is turned out. Ideally they could have waited until we beat Leicester and then buried it today. Oh wait...maybe even they realise that waiting on a victory from us would mean delaying renewal forms until the Summer.
  10. Probably a bit tongue-in-cheek but maybe something there. Ayre is top commercial/revenue generator guy. How can he possibly put all his efforts into securing Teixiera via long haul flights when he's also expected at the same time to come up with a very overly-complicated ticketing system designed to fleece the support?
  11. Well the asking price was £38m and remained consistently at that. Yep in latter stages there were articles mentioning 53m Euro but effectively give or take exchange rate fluctuations it remained around £38m. So if that was their asking price and they never budged from it you could argue it wasn't 'over the odds'. It was just their original valuation. It was way over what LFC apparently offered obviously, and therefore by definition in excess of LFC's value of the player. But then why waste time bidding nearly 40% below the asking price in the first place? And why fly out to Miami to offer 40% below? And then have to fly back empty handed. That's the baffling part.
  12. I still can't fathom we never brought anyone in to try and tackle the obvious problems. Some of the general performances this season have been as bad as I can remember, maybe almost Souness levels. At least in his teams there were one or two truly world class players. We've zip amount of those these days. Maybe one who never plays unfortunately. Klopp didn't come here to tread water. He obviously isn't expecting a city/chelsea like infrastructure, but probably has expectations that we'll provide the level of support needed to enable him to compete, to at least a level where his ability as a coach & manager can overcome any gap. In this respect what he (or anyone) can't do is overcome a massive chasm. Wouldn't be surprised despite rhetoric that he'll have the committee's cards marked after this which effectively is his first window. The one consolation in watching some of the performances this season was the fact that we knew this wasn't his team, and we'd expect to see the beginning of him attempting to rectify this in the first transfer window. Well there we go. Caulker on loan and some youngster immediately loaned back to Belgrade. Dereliction of duty at best from those with responsibility for signings. You wonder what has to go down for anyone on the infamous committee to suffer any consequences of incompetency. Collectively they're the untouchables.
  13. Given how it seems most of the business gets done at the 11th hour why don't they just reduce the actual transfer window to one day, I.e. today? That way we'd only have 1 day of disappointment to handle instead of reading about transatlantic flights and low-ball offers, etc, way in advance, before it all goes to mush as per.
  14. All too familiar depressing window. Only consolation is witnessing the massively fast growing thread on red cafe over Pep confirming he's off to City. 4 pages in 45 mins and counting. They're passing the rope around each page.
  15. So there even posters on here buying into this 'Chicarito' shite? Wake up and smell it. This is the usual shit put out by the club simply becasue yet again we've failed to land a player. Despite briefing half the world that Ayre was flying to Miami. I think Air Force One were warned also. It's the usual shit. It happened about 4 times over the last 2 years. You know the ones we missed out on. Well I hope so, because I'll be fucked if I'm going to google the spelling. Beginning of a transfer window, we're after a top player for big money = check Ayre jets off to seal it = check We offer miles below the asking price = check Bad owner is too greedy = check We blame bad owner, despite missing the fact we done same with Suarez = Check Ayre traipses home, tail between legs, and goes to bed = check We go mad on internet forums = check End of window, we sign nobody = check.
  16. Ah well we will as usual revert to plan B. Which will involve signing nobody but blame everybody for signing nobody.
  17. Haven't read last couple of pages but given there has been no mention of Teixiera I guess that's dead as a dodo? Much as the cynics among us predicted as soon as Ayre announced his plane was revving up on the tarmac. We've been here before. Same old shite.
  18. Kewell was fitness personified compared to this weapon.
  19. ESPN appear to be trolling us this week.
  20. I wasn't referring to the owners, they probably don't get that heavily involved in the practicalities/negotiations of trying to land a player. Their role will be to say 'there's the budget, work with it'. I was referring more to the infamous 'committee' or maybe just Ayre.
  21. You'd imagine this is the first player Klopp wants for 'his' team. That should be a key driver for those with responsibility for making the final decisions at the club re whether or not we walk away or pay what it takes to get the deal done. Klopp may give a fail this time a bye ball, but cards may be marked and the pressure will be intense on those with responsibility to get the next player in he wants. Can't miss out on the same amount of number 1 targets as we apparently did under Rodgers. Klopp won't meekly accept this in the same way Brendan seemingly did.
  22. £25m from China for him lol. How dodgy is this? Up there with the £50m they supposedly got for that joker David Luiz. The hand of Roman & his roubles are all over this again.
  23. I still can't come to terms with the fact Gerrard was the deepest player in that incident. Generally of course the centre halfs not to mention full backs should be behind Gerrard, but there we go. Shit does indeed happen.
  24. Just loan new south american signings to the Ukraine while EU work permits are pending.
  25. I'd buy their scouts then. Put Fallows & Hunter in the shade. Though that wouldn't be difficult.
