  1. I had to laugh at the part where rafa puts a pen and piece of paper in front of him and says "write down what money you want?" The fact he couldn't do it gave me the impression that in his heart of hearts he didn't believe he was worth £100,000, might of been his agent stirring things, not that i'm excusing him like!
  2. I don't go with that. You can't make quality youngsters appear,. If they're there you can help them through but if not, you can't rectify it. Sure Wright is as good as xavier/josemi who weren't good enough either so that doesn't say a hell of a lot. Ultimately finnan would've seen him off anyway. None of the others were good enough bar maybe thompson but he got several warnings about his discipline from houllier but didn't heed them so what can houllier do? The mancs recent record is similar with kids who've they produced in the last decade? Wes brown, quite good but he's been around a good few years now and john o'shea who's kind of like the new phil neville, ie shit. Then you compare that to their treble team and see that fergie brought through those players brilliantly. It shows you that if you have the talent you can work with it but if not there's little you can do
  3. I couldn't agree more, there's one angle from behind cech where it doesn't even look as if it's his knee that makes contact, more like his shin. I think Hunt should be thinking of a complaint of his own to be making to the FA as what chelsea are suggesting is out of order.
  4. haha, we both have our twat supporters in a minority here and there but red issue is mainly twat.
  5. By implication Hansen might have to come out then for a lot of his scotland performances. I don't subscribe to this theory. There are players who are real team players and players who aren't. You can have a player of outstanding ability with a great team ethos but if he is surrounded by players who aren't like him and he wins nothing you can't use that against the player. I think the main difference between the current team and the eighties team is winning leagues. If the current crop win a few leagues their reputation will get a lot closer to the aforementioned older teams. IMO the current setup would win/come very close to winning the league every year without chelsea. Chelseas money wasn't something older liverpool teams had to compete with. If you take say Notts Forest and throw world class players like for instance Platini, Gullit, etc in like chelsea have. They might have found titles a lot harder to come by. I'm by no means demeaning older liverpool teams here, Kennys side was incredible. I just think this thread is harsh on our current crop. According to Uefa are we not the 6th best team in europe or something. We aren't far away really are we?
  6. I thought exactly the same about Istanbul/Turkey. That's one similarity already, number 6 is in the bag.
  7. I think we sold him for more than we bought him for and with a cheap buy-back clause so in a few years if he develops well and when he's a bit more mature we can take him back when he should be able to properly challenge and adapt to liverpool better. I think that's a pretty decent deal. I know neill's a dirty shit but he could help us against teams like everton, bolton and now the likes of villa at set pieces. Teams sometimes target finnan at set plays. I'm not saying this as a kneejerk to the bolton goal i've just noticed it a few times. For instance everton did it in last seasons goodison derby for their goal. I don't know, i'm just speculating as to the possible benefits but I certainly don't think he's an average player. He's one of blackburns best players and they're probably a top 6/8 team. Whats to say he couldn't turn out like henchoz.
  8. Sounds like there may still be life in this deal. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/blackburn_rovers/5412324.stm As much as he's a dirty bastard perhaps he might've helped against bolton or everton and their shit ugly football.
  9. Something like... He whines to the ref He winks to the left In Germany he made Rooney like shite isn't it? ;)
  10. Amigo, I point you in the direction of description number 4. More irritating that having army ants under your foreskin. Now replace the words "army ants" with "paper cuts" and you have an idea of the hyypiagirl post-sex irritation.
  11. Jesus titty-fucking christ you talk turd.
  12. It's not really a question of buying one great player to replace gerrard, you could buy 2. A great right winger and then if you wanted you could buy alves for right back or another player for another position. The team could be strengthened significantly in two areas. Then 1 area would slightly decrease in quality (gerrard would've left), whilst another would be slightly strengthened, overall quality of team doesn't change majorly. Also, I don't buy the whole drop momo or alonso as we don't need that many defensive players. Whilst neither is ever likely to successfully take a man on they are both excellent in their own way. Alonso is behind a lot of our goals by threading balls through and whilst momo i concede is more or less purely a ball winner. If you catch your opponent out and win the ball in a good area up the pitch then you will score goals.
  13. United and chelsea will struggle against bolton and everton in my opinion, they are horrible to play against. Obviously they aren't gonna lose both but they aren't gonna just turn up and beat the nomarks. Chelsea have clawed out narrow wins against both a lot of the times they've played whereas the mancs have come a cropper a few times. As other folk are saying though, we need to string some results together desperately, if we get on a run we can do it. I think a goal for bellamy would really help. He got in some promising positions again and didn't produce when one on one with a man.
  14. I'm not so sure, he did recently say "we'll be right up there," when asked about whether we would challenge for the title. He looked fucking furious against shef utd, everton, chelsea and bolton. I don't think our players feel they have license to underperform.
  15. Please god let us take these bastards down. The only thing worse than a bad result is a bad result against a bastard, we've already suffered warnock, everton and chelsea this season. I hope this knobsmoker isn't about to join the list. I think we'll win though. Come on you reds!
  16. That's just it, I think cech is better than reina but i wouldn't be confident enough to say any other keeper in the league is. There's no way dudek should come back. It'll be interesting to see how he gets on at bolton as you know they'll make life very difficult for him at set pieces. I still have faith in reina to come back but if i'm being honest ive felt very uneasy every time he's received a passback or came for a cross recntly.
  17. I can't see rafa ever going there. It'd be suicide. It's far from disastrous situation at inter anyway. Have they not won 3 and drawn 1 of the first 4 league games? Also, in champs league they've played two hard games and can still go through. They have 2 games against moscow coming up, whilst the other 2 big teams must play each other twice. They'll be back in the frame after those i think. I wouldn't worry to much about rafa going there.
  18. This is true. Even most of the smaller clubs have troublemaking fans. A mate of mine used to work with this chef who was Italian, I can't remember who he supported but he made hitler sound like a hippy and i remember he hated verona. I think that was his clubs main rivals. If you said "verona" he would start swearing all over the place and then not speak at all for about five minutes. You could tell he'd be an ultra twat at a game. That's only one person obviously but if you go to any serie a game your likely to see ultra culture. Did Torino fans not threaten to break the countdown clock for the winter olympics in turin if the italian fa didn't carry out something they wanted a while back?
  19. I'm not so sure Sami over agger is necessarily the answer to bolton. The likes of milan wouldn't drop a player like maldini because of boltons tactics. His class would tell. Someone on telly the other day said Davies is the most fouled player in the league which we all know is a shite stat as he is just backing in and going down all the time like shearer used to. Sami will try and win every ball in the air so davies will probably just stand his ground and make it look like sami is climbing and get free-kicks. Aggers a bit more coy, he might be better equipped to deal with them. I dunno but i think we are gonna win this time, we should've won last time, we bossed them last year at reebok but made defensive mistakes. Also, is it just me or does anelka look considerably chunkier than he has at other clubs. I suppose the allardyce diet would do that to anyone.
  20. Seen that to, very funny. Even when sam had a little moan, Stelling was just laughing when they cut back to him. Stelling is one of the few tolerable folk on sky
  21. You just took the words out my mouth. I remember being annoyed by that decision. Towards the end under Houllier we started to go badly astray but that night we were a little unlucky I recall.
  22. and sir shit-a-lots interview still to come. Pretty good day for us today
  23. haha. Although, im not sure you'll need the chainsaw to achieve the terror effect with the stubbs mask.
