  1. Perhaps Babel is harping on about staying with us as he's been told we're not signing a new striker and he's therefore needed as back-up..Roy seems to rate him more than Rafa did (despite signing him, albeit as left wing).
  2. That song was the only thing that kept me going as I sat drowning my sorrows one night in May in Athens whilst waiting for the first ferry back to my island hotel! "Oh-wo-oh-wo-oh wo, we've got the best midfield in the world....." There was conga going on around Syntagma Square all night to that tune.
  3. Yeah, I just read that on the BBC link to the Evening Standard - it made me laugh that bit. He is clearly a c*ck!
  4. Tom, Best of luck with the recovery. I'm eternally grateful for the work that you and your mates do on our behalf. I hope you get back in green soon, and I'll sing a rendition of 'Scouser Tommy' in your honour when I'm next on the Kop. Take care lad. YNWA.
  5. Ngog should have only played about half a dozen games last season as part of his development. However, with Torres getting crocked and there being no back up he had to start far too many games for such an inexperienced player. It may have done some harm to his development in terms of his confidence, given the unrealistic expectations of the fans and the media as 'Torres' back-up'. The point is that he does have very good potential and if his 'development plan' can be put back on track he could turn out to be a decent striker in a couple of seasons. A loan spell could be a good idea, but with only Jovanovic as cover for Torres, I can't see him being released. Wolves fans that I know don't want him to go to the Baggies, as without being burdened with the expectation that he should automatically step into Torres' shoes, their objectivity allows them to actually see his potential.
  6. Who is it now then? Insua off (apparently), Aurelio gone. I'm probably being thick, but can't think of an obvious back up in the absence of a new signing?
  7. Agreed. Get behind the team. Get behind the manager!
  8. Being surrounded by dumb Brums, I've spent the last few days at work arguing with s*n readers that it was all a load of sh**e started by some Evertonian taxi-driver. It's frightening to think that people that I work with are thought of as intelligent yet they fall for this crap hook line and sinker!
  9. "There you go again with them negative vibes Moriarty" He should get down to Tescos, buy all the England flags and paraphernalia and put them in storage until the Euros 2012. He'd make a killing and be able to buy Queresma for the 2012-13 season.
  10. Sven, the saviour - thank God for that!
  11. You see, the odds were always stacked against the poor bloke......
  12. Not going to waste my time wading through the rubbish some have obviously been contributing. It's been clear from the moment that Rafa arrived he's immersed himself in the culture and the communities in Merseyside. Regardless of what has happened at the club this season, he's a legend in my eyes. Well done Rafa lad.
  13. I think Woy is the only sensible option at the moment. He'll only cost 2 1/2 million to buy out of his contract. He has a record of stabilising clubs. He has a good European record. He's willing to work with a limited budget and his missus is from this (that - I'm not there at the moment!) neck of the woods. The only question for me is if he would be willing to leave Fulham where he has stability and a team and fans who love him, to come to this club in its current mess? Only Woy knows.
  14. As if we haven't got enough problems without him fiddling the club's taxes (allegedly)!
  15. I wasn't expecting that to be funny - but it was!
  16. Istanbul 2005, Cardiff 2006 - mentioned many times already by many others. But I wouldn't have experienced Athens in 2007 or watching us beat Barca at the Nou Camp or Milan at the San Siro or teaching Real Madrid a footballing lesson at Anfield - all fantastic experiences - without Rafa. YNWA.
  17. If I were Kenny I'd be making four phone calls tonight. To Gerrard and Torres telling them that with their help he'll make this club great again and get us challenging for the title again next season regardless of what the World's media thinks of us. Then to Carragher and Reina telling them to get into Gerrard and Torres' heads whilst in South Africa and convince them that they need to stay at Anfield. 12 points clear by Christmas; the Kenny and Sammy show! Sorted.
  18. Fair question, but in my opinion, if anyone has a genuine interest in showing support, they should pop over the road and pay a lot less for a T-shirt promoting the issue from the HJC shop, where all the funds go directly to the HJC. Lots of colours, lots of designs. I can't see why anyone would pay fifty odd quid to the club when they could pay a few quid directly to HJC.
  19. Having cancelled my leave and sought a refund on my pre-booked flight to Hamburg, I'm now going to be working in London on Wednesday-Thursday. So as I'm on my own, I thought I would go and cheer Danny Murphy on in the Europa Cup Final on Wednesday night and was wondering if anyone knew of any decent pubs where I could soak up the Fulham atmosphere? Ta....
  20. I usually click on the gossip section on the BBC Football page. You always see some incredulous shite about us from the Mail and the S*n. As soon as you see whose published it you know its not worth eating your chips out of let alone reading.
  21. I expected this to be a G&H thread!
  22. Rafa's 2009-2010 Performance Development Scheme Objectives: 1. Work within the budget. 2. Finish in the top 4. 3. Win silverware. His delivery against PDS objectives doesn't seem to have met Meatloaf's minimum standards. Better the devil you know? Maybe. It'll be difficult to quantify the benefits of keeping Rafa if he goes on to reclaim a top 4 finish next season but wins f**k all again. People will continue to bitch and moan. But I can't help feeling the alternative is like throwing out the baby with the bath water; hiring someone like O'Neill and cementing our position in mid-table mediocrity. If Rafa stays and sets himself a 'performance development action plan' the media and so many fans will continue to compare his performance against what could have been achieved with a monied-Mourinho-style manager that would somehow unquestionably have brought instant success. Damned if you do, damned if you don't. One things for sure though, none of us really know what's going on at this club anymore. Whoever the manager is next season, whoever our striker is and whoever our captain is, they'll have my full support!
