    What are you talking about? Do you seriously think the council would allow a stadium to be built only yards away from our ground? The main reason we got permission to build on the park was because of the ensuing regeneration - and Anfield Plaza is a big part of that.

    Surely then the time to apply pressure was when the original bridging loan was re-financed onto the shoulders of the club, nowithstanding the weasel words of holding companies, blah, blah, blah.

    I don't see how people protesting outside a bank would influence how the bank would operate; the bank will follow whatever course of action it feels will give the best chance of getting it's money. To a huge bank like RBS, protests outside it's HQ, and the threat of some customers closing down their current accounts won't really add up to a hill of beans in the grand scheme of things.

    I get the impression a lot of people think all our troubles stem from not having world class full backs. It was the same when Riise was here (although he needs shooting for the Chelsea og). We're not exactly leaking goals left, right and centre, and while I accept we could always do with better players, there are more pressing concerns in the team than right (and left) full back.

    In what way could Moores ‘crack’ though? If he opened his daft trap to the Echo he’d just be binned off the board. It’s too late for Moores to help the cause in any material way. Even he led a march from the Sandon to the ground it wouldn’t make the yanks sell up. The only ways out of this I can see are if financial troubles force a sale, or the Dubians up their offer.

    The yanks might think that the Man City deal would make Dubai keener than ever to buy Club, reasoning that they (the Dubians) would not want to be outdone by their neighbours (Abu Dhabi), and may try to milk this situation.

    Why don't the Dubians just stump up the extra £80 mil and have done with it? Don't give me all this 'shrewd businessman' baloney though - if they were that shrewd they would have bought the Club in the first place for a lot less than they are reportedly prepared to pay now.

    The thing that pisses me off the most is that we’re not a good football team. I’m not saying that Rafa has had the financial backing that Chelsea and the mancs have given their Managers, but, the fact that our play is absolutely fucking wank is down to Rafa and I’m presuming his training methods. If we say that we need £20 mil players in every position just to play cohesive football then we are totally fucked. It’s only one game but watching Fulham when they beat Arsenal, they played miles better football than we’ve managed for fucking ages, and they had the big handicap of having distinctly average journeymen in the side like Danny Murphy.

    Actually, Parry has said publicly that if the idea of a shared stadium was brought up by Hicks/Gillett then he’d resign, but in reality I don’t think he would.

    I think pretty much every player that was (regularly) in our dominant sides had a good first touch - it was basically a prerequisite for getting in the team.

    It's funny how it reverted back to normal for yesterday's gave vs. Liege. Let's see what happens at the next home Premier League game.......

    Kuyt has got a touch of the Danny Murphys about him in that he's fucking gash and utterly infuriating, yet pops up with the odd important goal. On the Torres front, I think too often he tries to do to much, and is losing the ball quite a bit attempting to take the world on.

    The irony of Kuyt's corner was that although it was good, he only took it because it was extremely late in the game and we couldn't afford to wait for a regular corner taker to make their way over, so Kuyt just bombed it in because he was the closest player there.

    I'll think you'll find that Torres was responsible for the points by banging a terrific shot beyond the Sunderland keeper and into the back on the net; Alonso merely did what any professional footballer should be able to do - pass the ball accurately 10 yards to your team mate. Just out of interest, which exactly were the three previous games you claim Alonso was our best player?

    I think today's performance was a much needed slap in the face for the don't-sell-Xabi-he's-my-fave-player-and-I-know-better-than-the-Manager merchants, and hopefully people are wising up. As an example, just before half time Alonso took a corner, didn't beat the first man. Then just after half time, he came down to take a corner Main Stand side of the Kop and got quite an ovation - didn't beat first man, then we got another corner same side, this time the ovation was really muted, and for the record he didn't beat the first man again.

    Alonso was fucking atrocious today, even way worse than Kuyt, which takes some doing. One interesting note too at full time; when the whistle went all our players shook hands with the ‘Boro players, congratulated each other and generally took in the adulation from the crowd for a while, whereas Alonso immediately stalked off down the tunnel on his own.

    With constantly rising building costs, the paragons of fiscal discipline swan into town and commission a vastly more expensive stadium than the planned ‘Parry Bowl’, which even now after the ‘value engineering’ exercise looks like it’s way, way too expensive for us seeing that we will have to take out loans amounting to hundreds of millions of £’s to pay for it - debt which will be added to several hundreds of millions of £’s that is already secured around our necks. As already has been pointed out, the owners don’t give two fucks about the Club. If Rafa didn’t give two fucks he could just have a quiet life collecting his salary while mumbling inane platitudes at every opportunity.

    I would have preferred it if Nabil had replaced Kuyt. As it was, Kuyt moved into the middle which gave him greater scope to mess our attacks up - not that Keane was fantastic or anything.

    Today's game showed the value of having a centre back that's actually good in the air (not forgeting the dodgy attempted headed back pass, though) - Sami got his head to an awful lot today - especially in the first half. At least one of Skrtel and Hypia should play every game (form and fitness permitting).
