Bellingham fiasco aside, we were crying out for an athletic DM (and ideally someone who could cover the right back area) and a left sided centre back. Two outstanding young candidates were on the market, Caicedo and Gvardiol, who fitted the bill perfectly, around the 80 million mark each. They would have been cornerstones of the team for years like vvd and Alisson were. It's mad to think we didn't even entertain the thought of going for them. There's no way we can't afford that.

Tchoumenai is even more out of our price range than Caicedo.

Pissed off but not surprised at the Bellingham news. If we somehow instead managed to nab Tchoumanei and Caicedo for similar money we would be almost sorted. We'll probably end up with Mount and Nunes, with a 40 million net spend after we offload Kelleher and Phillips. It's how we roll.
