Yup. He has to provide something going forward, which he hasn’t done this season. Defensively the right side has been targetted by almost all teams for around a year now and it is working for them. He has too many lapses of concentration where players just run off him and he has no awareness of them having done so. With VVD out it obviously conplicates things, but I would start by trying to shore up that right handed side by playing Gomez there. Stop shipping goals as easily as we do and hopefully then we can start winning some 1 - 0 and such. Currently we’re behind in almost every game after 5 mins and we have to stop that.

Add in that we also are the team that has the 2 that wastes the biggest chances and it is easy to see why we are where we are. We need wholesale changes, not just in midfield but also defence and attack. Probably coaching and sports science also, a bit of a mess.

I agree with this. Why haven’t we see the likes of Keita or Ox or Hendo etc being tried to be offloaded to someone? Keita wasn’t good enough last year, nothing new this year or similarly with Ox, why wasn’t he moved on? Fine to say buy a midfielder or 2 or 3 or however many, but we haven’t shifted any of our existing ones. And don’t get me started on Arthur, what kind of impact, any at all, has he had for us? Not played a minute has he? No point at all in his signing. Not even as emergency cover or whatever. We have been very very far from ruthless with regards to our midfield.

We simply have to get Trent away from RB. He is way to big a liability defensively and currently he isn’t even offering anything going forward. Stabilise the back and try to not concede in the first 5 minutes would be a start.
