  1. I thought he reffed it well. On the other hand, the Mancs had nothing riding on it, so it doesn't actually prove anything.
  2. Ferguson: "I thought Phil Dowd had a disappointing night." Well obviously Dowd will be disappointed - the team lost, despite his chalking off a perfectly good Wigan goal and allowing United to play on for a hundred minutes.
  3. Fair or unfair, at least it means that someone at the club understands the difference between success and failure. I was beginning to doubt that.
  4. "The digital clock at the DW Stadium shows that there were a sum total of nine minutes 41 seconds of injury time." No dodgy dealings in the Premier League, then...
  5. Why can't Maxi start all the time? WHY?! Notice that Kenny didn't mention him in the post-match - on the offal at least.
  6. I'm not keen on the new away kit, either.
  7. Carrol must be the least-skilled diver in the league. What are our coaching staff spending their time doing?
  8. "The transfer fees for Chiek Tioté, Gabriel Obertan, Davide Santon, Yohan Cabaye, Hatem Ben Arfa and Papiss Cissé – with Demba Ba, Sylvain Marveaux and Mehdi Abeid all signed on a free – still leave Mike Ashley £8m in profit on the Carroll deal." Guardian Warning. The full article contains mild implied criticism of the manager. Those of a sensitive disposition should look away.
  9. I don't follow the Mancs, so I didn't realise they'd ever had a first team with so many inexperienced / small club players in it. Where did they finish?
  10. Not Bascombe, but I thought this was interesting (OK, your idea of 'interesting' might be different): "If Liverpool finish sixth, it will equal or better the best ever Premier League finishing position for Stewart Downing, Charlie Adam, José Enrique, Andy Carroll and Jordan Henderson – a sizeable chunk of the Liverpool squad. While this does not necessarily prove anything, it does temper somewhat the notion that Liverpool are under-performing."
  11. Polynesia? it could be. The most widely spoken 'Polynesian language' (there are many) is Tahitian with only 117,000 living speakers (Ethnologue data). So it seems improbable...
  12. When a £35 million striker and a £20 million midfielder turn out to be appalling .... supporters work out the profits from sales, subtract the fees from purchases and use this an excuse for buying pap. So he does read TLW.
  13. "We still have Newcastle in our sights?" Newcastle United 30 50 Liverpool 30 42 Is that the same way that Downing has Messi in his sights?
  14. Christ, that was some goal. Up there with Coates'. Hope they drop him for the next match...
  15. Hope Coates' goal isn't being held against him...
  16. Jon Flanagan and Jordan Henderson start for Liverpool against Wigan Athletic at Anfield this afternoon - offal
  17. "Kenny Dalglish believes a moment of bad fortune was the deciding factor as Liverpool went down to a 1-0 defeat against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday." Id he beginning to follow The Way of The Owl?
  18. I've just seen the game for the second time (the live version was at 02.45 out here) and I have to say that he looked better than OK. In the first half, in particular, he was knocking ball after ball down onto the penalty spot, but there was no-one there to take advantage. I don't know if it will continue, but it was the most dramatic turnaround I can recall, given how utterly useless he's been up till now.
  19. "If we keep three clean sheets every eight, we'll be fine." Ambition
