  1. The state of football in England may be fun to watch, but is it good football? The leagues in England are by far the best soccer to watch(watching Serie A is slow suicide), but does it hurt Englands chance of being a real player on the national front ever again? Again i may piss some people off by comparing it to a sport that is not viewed by many english fans, but just hear me out. Basketball in America is a sport that is not as much fun to watch when it is played at a technical way. The great athletes that are bigger, faster, stronger and playground-like are by far more entertaining. But when you put a technical team(college ball is what i am talking about) up against an athletic team that just plays by instinct they usually fail or have a hard time playing with them. I see great parallels in English Soccer. Maybe that is why it seems that English club fans hate international soccer. I hate seeing our(American Team) pro basketball players fuck up every international tournament. The Europeans in basketball are sooooo much better technically than our great athletes and we struggle when we should not. My case in point was a thread about Riquelme recently that said he would basically suck playing in England. That is a bit sad when you compare what he does everywhere else. I am trying to say that English soccer, (yet exciting), is a bit like pick up basketball in the states. I can send a team that plays technically and has much less talent against a squad of instinctivly great athletes in basketball and drive them nuts. Am i somewhat correct here or am i off the reservation? I want to express that i love the EPL more than every other league, but it may hurt English players more than help. My only argument is the amount of English players desired by the so called technical leagues.
  2. Are there any better than Gerd Mueller? He has to have the best, not because it is unique, but because it is child like and consistent. Plus he did it quite often. I would put a clip of them on here but i don't know how.
  3. I agree whole heartedly. The same thing can be said in the states. Basketball is the one suffering over here.
  4. I will never be able to be a Liverpudlian, or experience what has happened, but those clips about made me cry and i am happy to say i am an adopted(hopefully) supporter of LFC.
  5. Worst Liverpool half i remember watching. OK it is over let's move on and win this.
  6. Water is the only thing that expands when frozen isn't it?
  7. CL is pretty important to do well in cause it seems to attract the big name players. Do you think we would have Torres if we weren't in 2 of the last 3 finals? We must do well in the CL and Prem, the other tropies are for the young guys to win.
  8. Orlando- Church Street and Pleasure Island for going out at night.
  9. Thanks for the answers. The pitch for that game was poor too, maybe that's another reason. About the black players, i always assumed Europe was way ahead of the US in the inclusion of black athletes, that's what i meant by that. Just an observation.
  10. Just saw a classic match between Scotland and England 1979 on FSC over here. I have a few questions though: 1. When the keeper got the ball, he would roll it and then pick it up again, what was up with that? 2. Is there still a British Isles tournament? Never heard of it, and when did it stop? 3. Where are the black players? The game looked really slow. And Dalglish look a bit shitty that game, had the one assist, but lost all kinds of possession. First game i saw him in. And Jock Stein is a big man!!!
  11. That's like that Jamaican joke: White man and a Jamaican in a bathroom with the same "WY" tattoos on their dicks and the white guy says when erect it is his wife's name "Wendy", and the Jamaican says mine is "Welcome to Jamaica and have a nice day". By the way any New York city Reds fans on here? Going to the city this weekend and want to see the game.
  12. The American owners have shown a bit of good ownership up to THIS date. Will be interesting the next few years, but they seem to support Benitez and have the fans interest at heart. It is early, but i like what i see.
  13. Believe it or not, try Halifax, Nova Scotia. Small, fun and great little day trips that are not so European. Ask NP to second that.
  14. Don't post too often but i read this website almost everyday. The whole Carragher thing got me to asking why it seems no one in Europe(at least Germany, England, France etc...) is patriotic. Last year i took 23 students to Germany and everyone told me that patriotism is supressed there(i guess because of the two wars). Is England the same? Maybe there is a different dynamic that i am missing with the club v. country stuff, but it seems sad that you all(generality) really don't care about the national team. I personally miss the Cold War Olympics(not the Cold War) and all that stuff. We Americans(Canada too) when it comes down to it are pretty patriotic, what's up over there? Am i wrong on this?
  15. Before you say such nasty stuff, look at the casualties incurred on Dresden, and other such cities using hundreds of bombers. The difference is the number of planes and bombs(and don't say the English would not have used it if possible). Wars are stupid even the one we are in now. But until we can go back to the days of self-sufficiency and lower population, than wars are going to happen. This is useless, people will believe what they want to believe, it comes down to knowledge.
  16. ...beyond the fact that his is the manager of Everton, how do you rate him? He seems to be right up there all the time with teams that have more money. Seems to me he does well with what he has.
  17. Don't know how to start a poll and that stuff, but who likes him, loves him, or loathes him? I think he is the heart of Liverpool FC right now along with Carragher. And with what has happened the last few years he should be idolized and not demonized because of past indiscretions. He is a Red through and through in the modern world of football and should be seen as such. He stayed, Owen did not, I love the guy. :inlove:
  18. Did you watch the game? The US kids did alright for awhile. Tevez came on to score.
  19. If you think what we have got recently for 11 Million Pounds, i am a big fan of that. Think of it that way. Wasn't Alonso, Momo, and a few others around that range? I say bring in 5-11 Million Pounders and sort it out from there. Fuck the 1 player for 30 mill.
  20. The newer Jersey respects the older one, we just do things better that is all. By the way, let me say South Jersey, North Jersey sucks ass.
  21. I don't live in Florida anymore and i don't want to start a new person. Help.
  22. How is his injury coming? I always understood that an achilles injury was somewhat career ending.
