Yeah, everything. Went over everything thoroughly. The only processes running are the standard cPanel processes that take up little or no memory at all most of the time, the mail server, Apache, ftpd, SSH and MySQL. Apparently, the problem was that MySQL was hogging all of the memory which was then causing the server to swap out to the disk which slowed things down which resulted in a downward spiral.

Sorry about that, that was me. I mucked up. Server wasn't really overloaded.

Another 1 gig of RAM. I don't expect the problems to magically disappear straight away, it'll probably need further tweaking now to take advantage of the extra RAM. I'll be watching the server closely over the next few days and making sure downtime is minimised. Hopefully that's also the end of those 'Server Overload' messages.

Yeah, but that'd be way dodgy (people's avatars being deleted etc). I don't think vBulletin supports it either. It's better than the way it was, but it's really like throwing deckchairs off the Titanic. The memory upgrade (see announcement) should improve things no end.

Avatars are now served from the filesystem instead of the database. That should take at least some pressure off the db.
