I've not been on here much recently, too much going on with work and family. The company I work for, based in the North East, has a box at St James Park and I was there yesterday with colleagues and customers. There were 4 reds out of a total of 10. It was sobering having the piss ripped from you by Geordies, flipin' Geordies. I read this thread and saw the usual rhetoric about Rafa from Ant, Juan Galonso, Code and avoided my first urge to post with anger. We're all supposedly reds who want the same thing, success and pride in our team. Kenny- my hero as for most people of my age (47). His return, after the horror of Hodgson, was a real thrill and the football we played after he got settled last season was superb. But this season, after the purchases in the Summer, it's getting hard to see where we are going, and he's had pretty supportive stable owners. Contrast that with Rafa's last 3 years. What I have seen this season is the lack of a regular formation, spine to the team, and pattern of play on too many occasions. Since Agger got injured we have nose dived and Ant's love Carra is plainly embarrassing at present ( great servant,hero of Istanbul but 12 months late in retiring). I can not see why are not playing Coates rather than Carragher, giving Carroll a run of at least 10 games uninterrupted to get match fit, settled and given a fair chance to succeed or leave without the excuse of a real and fair try over a sustained spell. Sterling should have 15-30 minute cameo appearances, give Adam Morgan time on the bench and a few late runs. Try Adjoran and a few others with a sub appearance, do something to shake it up and show the non performers it has to change. Get pride back in playing in a red shirt. I love Kenny but I'm unsure he has it about him to do such things. I know one thing, a Rafa Benitez team would not be getting humiliated like recent games and not completely out thought tactically. I can't understand why anybody would not question where we are and where we are headed.

I was at a company management meeting held this week down in Brentwood. Our Manager down there (Spurs Fan) was adamant a mate of his (financial/insurance type-we're not I add!) was sorting financial deals linked to Villa coming next month. If he did he hid it well! Looked like he could still play. Saw him warming up before a run about 3 weeks ago when I was coming back from the Grosvenor Arms in Aldford and saw him out running a lot. He lived about 800 yards away from a pub called the Rake & Pikel in Huntington, in a nice place but nothing too over the top. I am about to power down & leave for the game but I can say today's game is now almost unimportant. Can't believe a death of a non Liverpool player could have such an impact.
