  1. I don’t think the issue is ‘level of experience’, per se, more that there’s no-one in that midfield with the ability to stop their midfield doing whatever they want, and the central defenders behind them are both out of form. We’ll be fine if Arsenal never actually get the ball.
  2. Trying to sucker wools who don’t take enough notice of us to know that we’re putting our 3rd XI out.
  3. Full time 5-2 It wasn't all terrible, but the better team won.
  4. Beck on for Varesanovic - Norris moves further forward.
  5. 5-2 Hill intercepts a pass on our left, feeds Stewart who hits it first time low past the keeper from just inside the area.
  6. 5-1 Varesanovic gives the ball away on the edge of the area and Stanley finish the job.
  7. 4-1 Cracking strike into the top left corner from just inside the area by Jordan Clark after a strong run down the right.
  8. 3-1 Accrington Against the run of play in the second half, Dixon-Bonner gives the ball away on the halfway line and they take it all the way and round Winterbottom for the goal.
  9. Half time 2-1 We started well, but they've worn us down physically and taken their chances.
  10. 2-1 Accrington Goal mouth scramble in the last minute of the half finished off with a deflected shot from 10 yards out.
  11. Accrington have the ball in the net yet again, ruled out again, this time for offside.
  12. ...where one person's mutterings are worth twenty of anyone else's.
  13. 1-1 Accrington corner from the left, headed past Winterbottom from close range at the back post.
  14. Accrington corner from the right, the ball ends up in the net but the ref rules it out for a foul on Winterbottom, who stays down for a couple of minutes but plays on.
  15. 1-0 Dixon-Bonner gets a tap-in after strong pressing by Stewart and then good work by debutant Varesanovic.
  16. And that all-important team news :- Winterbottom; Gallacher, Norris, Clayton, Savage, Christie-Davies, Dixon-Bonner, Cain, Hill, Varesanovic, Stewart. Subs : Atherton, Beck, Walls, Quansah, Morton. I can’t believe I’m actually going to see Dal Varesanovic play a game that wasn’t a secret gig. Also, Clarkson, Boyes, Larouci, Longstaff, Williams... they can’t ALL be in the running for tomorrow, Shirley?
  17. “Kelleher to play” according to offal. https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/370891-caoimhin-kelleher-set-to-face-arsenal-in-cup-tie
  18. Wait, there's more! Harry Wilson : Came on with half an hour to go in the 0-0 draw between Bournemouth and Watford. Played a neat through ball to put Josh King clean through and the Norwegian should have done better. Finished the match by hitting the post with a free kick. Sheyi Ojo : Got 10 minutes off the bench in the Europa League draw at Porto, then 25 more in the laboured win over Motherwell. It will be interesting to see how much playing time he gets as Ryan Kent returns to full fitness. Liam Millar : Back into the starting lineup against St. Mirren, substituted after 68 minutes in the 1-0 win that took Kilmarnock back to the top of Scottish Football (non-Glasgow division). Loris Karius : Responsible for the first goal in Braga's 2-1 win over Besiktas in the Europa when he parried a soft-looking shot straight to an opponent. Not really to blame for his entire back four going missing for the winner. Since then he put in a sound display in the 1-0 win over Galatasaray, who must be proper shit (checks lineup, sees Babel). Kamil Grabara : Returned to the starting lineup against Barnsley after missing the midweek game; arguably unsighted for the Barnsley goal in Huddersfield's 2-1 win. Six games without defeat now for the Terriers. Marko Grujic : Started the game between Hertha and Hoffenheim; subbed off at the break with the Berliners two down (they got it back to 2-2 before conceding again). Taiwo Awoniyi : Unused sub as Mainz beat Koln 3-1. Nat Phillips : Unused sub (and probably not unhappy about it) as Stuttgart were battered 6-2 at Hamburg. Allan : Another weekend, another hard-fought draw for Fluminense 1-1 vs. Chapecoense, another yellow card. He's almost certainly better than Liam Coyle.
  19. My guess for the month in question would be Smarch
  20. ‘Irresponsible’ wouldn’t be the right word, but on current form playing Williams or Thomas Hill at RB and Gomez in the centre would be easier to justify. Also van den Berg missed the reserve game on Saturday with that virus that’s doing the rounds. EDIT: He was at the game yesterday though, so it can’t be bad shithouse dog AIDS or anything.
