Scotland can count themselves unfortunate to be in the same group as Ireland & SA as they are in good form and look to be a team on the up. Contact shouldn't automatically mean a foul, the brushes of legs/thighs & attackers throwing themselves to the ground needs to stop also, it just not a foul. Is it impeding the attacker? Probably yes but in vast majority of cases it requires the attacker to deliberately fall to the ground. That to me means it shouldn't be a foul. It called cute/clever play, to me its cheating. Just like arguing and surrounding a ref its been allowed to grow and become the norm. Difficult to row back on it once its manifested itself in the game. Same applies to time wasting and feigning injury. These harsher measures the refs have introduced will disappear by Xmas (it already has in many cases)

Obviously we'll need to see how performances and results are to properly judge the window but purely based on players brought in and let go I think its a steady if unspectacular 7.5/10. We've gotten rid of quite a bit of dead wood, annoyed Phillips has gone out on loan & not been sold but that's only minor. The squad as a whole is stronger although there are definate question marks about right back and the centre back area. In CB we have the numbers but do we have the reliability and necessary quality. Much will rest with Gomez and how he peforms, i think he'll become 3rd choice moving ahead of Matip in the pecking order. Before the long injury he was looking like a rolls royce of a young CB, hopefully he can rediscover that form & level of performance.

I would say 7 points from 9 and playing two tough away games is a good return. Of the all the teams looking to finish in the CL places or better we've had the toughest start and that doesn't even counter in the two red cards either. Its a big week ahead off the pitch because the recruitment team need to get the fingers out of their arses bring in 2 quality reinforcements.
