  1. After Gerrards immense contribution on Saturday I almost forgot about a cracking piece of skill that seems to have been overlooked. About midway through the first half Alonzo (I think) sprayed a 40 yard cross field pass towards Gerrard stood on the touchline on the halfway line. The pass was slightly overhit and was dropping down over Gerrards head for a throw in until he leaned forward under the flight of the ball, lifted his right leg backwards and cushioned it with the heel of his right boot about 5 ft off the deck. The ball, under his complete control, plopped back over his head right in front of him and he continued on his way with the ball at his feet. Please tell me that's what happened and that my eyes weren't deceiving me and where I can see it again.
  2. Saw him play against my local non-league team Northwich Vics in the 3rd round of the FA Cup in January. Did OK but nothing special and was subbed after an hour. Was some way behind Liam Lawrence and Dean Whitehead who were the two best players on the park.
  3. Good choice. Probably the best MOH game available and only a fiver. Bargain. The opening scene where you storm the beaches on D-Day is particularly realistic (think of Saving Private Ryan in pixels) and if my memory serves me right clearing the streets of Nazis and taking heavily fortified bridges in Holland takes some doing. Let me know how you get on.
  4. Vladi, You can't go wrong with any of them although the last MOH was probably the poorest of the five available on PS1 and PS2 suggesting the series may have run its course. IMO Call of Duty is better than MOH and the 'Big Red One' just released is supposed to be the best WWII shooter available (not played it yet but it's on my Xmas wish list) BIA is slightly different to the other two in that it places more emphasis on tactics and team strategy but nevertheless you wont be disappointed with it. Hope this helps. Whatever you choose - enjoy. Flathead
  5. Agreed. That's exactly what Crouch is. A good footballer and a decent, hard working professional. No more, no less. Unfortunately the premiership is full of good footballers and if we want to mount a serious challenge for the title we need players that are better than good especially up font. Personally I think Crouch has played quite well for us so far but ultimately strikers are judged on goals scored and he has failed to deliver in that dept. Never the less as long as he is a Liverpool player he will continue to receive my full support although I think that chanting his name out of sympathy as suggested in an earlier thread would seriously de-value the chants aimed at the likes of Carra, Gerrard and co who have earned that right through their performances on the pitch over the past couple of seasons.
  6. Pako and Mark Hughes were having a right barney at one stage although from the Kop I couldn't see what they were arguing about and it was a while after the sending off incident so I doubt if it was that. Anyone shed any light on the Mark Hughes and Carra incident? Soon after the sending off Hughes was having a right go at Carra for some reason and again after the final whistle. Carra appeared to be trying to calm him down and explain something to him but he was having none of it. Watching MOTD last night it looks like Hughes was upset about Carras involvement in the sending off perhaps suggesting that he encouraged the ref to dismiss the defender (sorry can't remember his name and if I could I certainly couldn't spell it) but I didn't think he did too much wrong. Surely as captain he is entitled to have his say on such matters?
  7. Couldn't agree more. Booked a half day holiday today to queue for tickets only to be told that I could not join the queue so late in the day as the ticket office staff were struggling to cope dealing with those already in the queue
  8. I keep hearing how Kirkland would be Englands next no 1 if only he could keep injury free but I'm not so sure. Didn't see enough of him at Coventry to comment on his performances there but at best I would say his performances for us have been nothing more than average. It's a worry as I dont think replacing him with Dudek is the answer I'm afraid. Dudeks a great shot-stopper but not a great all-round keeper either. Perhaps in time Kirkland will fulfil his potential and become a great goalkeeper. Fingers crossed.
  9. Emlyn Hughes RIP. Will always remember his goal celebration after scoring with a 20 yard screamer of a volley in the Goodison derby in the late sixties or early seventies when I was a kid and proudly holding aloft the European Cup amidst hundreds of flashing cameras in Rome in 77. The guys enthusiasm and passion for football and inparticular LFC was immense. YNWA.
  10. FrankH According to the official website tickets are only on sale at the moment to fans who attended either or both of the two earlier CL games. They go on sale to the general public who didn't attend either from Monday 11/10/4 which allows a week and a bit until the match for postal applications to be processed and the tickets distributed. Unlike the Monaco game this should allow more than enough time for the ticket office to get their act together and post the tickets to fans who applied for tickets rather than return uncashed cheques and apologetic letters of incompetence. Pretty sure the ground will be full for the Deportivo match or at least attended by a number in excess of 40,000.
  11. First timer here guys so be gentle with me  Think the real problem here lies with the shambolic allocation of the tickets in the first place and not the cost. I'm a ST holder but coz I did not a attend the AK Graz game I had to wait until the fans with ST's that attended that game and then the fans with fan cards who had attended that game too had been given first refusal. That left me with just 6 days (incl the weekend) for the ticket office to receive my postal application, process it and post me my ticket. Needless to say I didn't get a ticket only an apologietic letter from the club admitting that due to the extremely high number of postal applications received once the tickets became available to the general public ie fans that had not attended the AK Graz game there was not enough time to distribute the tickets. I've no problem with the loyalty policy being adopted by the club. I actually agree that fans who attend the 'smaller' cup games should have first refusal on tickets for the 'bigger' matches but give us a little more time to apply and receive our tickets once they become available to the general public. Another reason for the poor turnout for the Monaco game could be coz the club encouraged low priced father & son tickets for the AK Graz game. Good idea but I think they forgot that the AK Graz game was played in the school holidays when kids would be allowed to stay up a late to watch the match. The Monaco game was played after the kids had gone back to school and therefore these fans with first refusal probably didn't take up the offer for this reason. Combine the two issues together and hey presto empty seats and lost revenue for the club. Crazy.
