  1. I defy anybody out there to make sliding tackle at pace without one or both feet leaving the ground. Oh and I'm convinced if Dembele hadn't shit out it would not have been an issue. I was always told that you have to commit to the tackle or risk injury.
  2. Have another look at the tackle Jay's eyes are only on the ball Dembele (?) is not even contesting hence he makes the contact look worse than it is. You know what I could accept it if decisions were consistent from the cunts in the middle and we knew this was a rule. A far worse tackle at Stamford bridge gets a yellow. Ballotelli gets a yellow for pulling Johnson back Senderos doesn't. There is just complete inconsistency from the refs nowadays and there,s a few of them on the list that should be packed off back to the amateur leagues.
  3. The zfulham player wasn't even contesting the ball when J cleared it. Are we outlawing the tackle now in football? You've come up with the same theory as that gobshite failed ,Boro manager came up with.
  4. A red card that was rescinded by the FA which sort of disproved your statement. Just as a matter of interest how many of you out ther have played footy at a decent level in a defensive position and made a sliding tackle and been able to stop your body immediately upon contacting the ball? It was poor refereeing - check the Fulham players reaction to the tackle as it happens, there is none
  5. Just spotted this now. Did you see the incident ? Seriously? The ref had a clear view and was playing on. If you can't see that then get yourself down to the FA as you will surely be able to get yourself onto the list. Seriously if you don't think that ref,s pre judge certain players you're living in a dreamland.
  6. How low have we gone? Get to fuck . He spends most games with opposing defenders kicking the shit out of him with little or no protection from the moron in the middle because a certain bacon faced twat accused him of diving all over the place. I fucking despair at some of our so called supporters.
  7. Having had a good lok at the mancs, Chelsea, arsenal and City this week I Would say our squad is not looking too bad at all.
  8. Agree 100% but we now live in an era where the TV and internet fan demands instant success. Henderson, Lucas, Carroll are all youngsters and still learning their trade and yet there are people on this forum already writing them off. It is an exceptional player that prior to the age of 24/25 is a success from day 1.
  9. Ever had an elbow onto the side of the face? It can be painful. Ballotelli made no effort to jump for the ball but rather just led with his elbow across Skrtel Having said that however, this would not be an issue if it was not a second yellow. There are soft bookings in most games these days. The problem here is he got himself the first yellow through stupidity, from then on you're always on a tightrope
  10. Ha u noticed it too. As for Downinf I'm still wanting more from him. I'd like to see him go outside the fullback a few more times.
  11. Jesus did we watch the same game? I watched City take the Scum apart with lightning fast counter attacks hence a first 30 minutes that was always going to be tight. This is a side unbeaten in the prem so far and have scored something like 20 odd goals away from home. Bellamy probably would have played ,barring what happened with ,and yes we may have played differently up front. I thought it was a cracking match and but for Joe Hart we would have taken all 3 points I can't understand why you would be upset here apart from the fact that we deserved all 3 points.
  12. So as far as some people are concerned it's all his own fault. QROPSpensiondesigner.com/FreeGuide 1 / 1The Uruguayan FA - and Gus Poyet - have leapt to the defence of Luis SuarezGetty Images Suggested Topics Uruguay Spain Diplomacy London Luis Suarez has only himself to blame for the racism charge he now faces because he failed to apologise for, or personally explain, the Spanish slang which he claims has been the cause of the anger felt by Manchester United's Patrice Evra, the Kick it Out organisation said last night. Liverpool are preparing a defence of the Uruguayan striker which will centre on the striker's declaration that he used a word which Evra's "team-mates at Manchester call him." That word might be negrito, which means "little black man" in Spanish, but is used in South America both as a term of endearment and as a gentle wind-up. It is possible that an apology for any perceived slight could have enabled Liverpool to avoid a Football Association commission hearing which left their manager, Kenny Dalglish, reflecting yesterday on how his club have been on the receiving end of a series of perceived injustices from the football authorities. But none has been forthcoming, with the first public suggestion that Suarez used any slang coming when he addressed the Uruguyan press last week. A spokesman for Kick It Out said last night: "It would appear that Patrice Evra had no other option than to lodge a complaint in the absence of an apology or any sort of explanation. The process has begun and we await the outcome." The FA's decision, on Tuesday evening, to charge Suarez with abuse that "included a reference to the ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race of Patrice Evra" divided opinion intensely yesterday, with the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) preparing to throw its weight behind Liverpool's attempts to demonstrate that Suarez is not guilty. Liverpool are preparing a defence which will centre on the allegedly benign nature of slang derived from the Spanish word for black, negro. The AUF is seeking help from the Uruguayan Embassy in London and its own Foreign Office as it seeks to bolster that aspect of the case for the impending hearing. The sense of indignation felt by Uruguayans was also graphically revealed when the Brighton & Hove Albion manager, Gustavo Poyet, accused Evra of "crying like a baby" over alleged racist comments and another to join the Suarez cause last night was Liverpool's first black player, Howard Gayle, who insisted Liverpool would not support the player if he were guilty. Poyet is concerned that the charges brought against his compatriot set a dangerous precedent. "I believe [with] Luis Suarez, it's simple," he said. "I played football for seven years in Spain and was called everything, because I was from South America , and I never went out crying like a baby, like Patrice Evra, saying that someone said something to me. I'm really sad about this charge because it's going to become too easy. I can make a complaint about any opposition manager, and if I take it as far as I can he's going to get charged. Why are we going to take one person's word over another one's? It's too risky." Poyet, 44 , claimed there was insufficient evidence against Suarez, though the FA has been acutely aware of the linguistic complexities of the case. Its painstaking work on linguistic nuance has largely contributed to the investigation taking five weeks and careful reading of the more serious of two charges could see Suarez escape relatively lightly if he is found to have included a reference to the "colour" or Evra, rather than "ethnic origin" or "race." There is a significant difference between the Spanish word for black – negro, of which negrito is a derivation – and the same word in its widely understood racial context. The substantial number of United players interviewed by the FA may be key to the commission hearing. Dalglish said Liverpool had felt they were on the receiving end of a lot. "Everybody at every football club thinks that someone can do better or be more helpful but you just get on with it," he said. "Most of the time you don't want to say anything but if you don't say anything they'll walk all over you. They might still walk all over us anyway but you've got to justify yourself, you've got to have an opinion and you've got to make a statement of a belief you've got. At the end of the day we know we've got to play the game and we will play it but it doesn't mean we haven't got an opinion about when we're playing it and it also doesn't mean to say we've got an excuse. " The manager, who said he wanted the commission to do its work "quickly but correctly," insisted that the charge hanging over Suarez would not affect his form "for any other reason than, like everyone else, sometimes you don't play as well as you are capable of playing."
  13. Well it doesn't bear a great deal of relevance to the issue under discussion but I would agree that viewing this from afar it does seem that the moment a person of colour makes the cry of Racism everybody in the UK goes overboard in an attempt to be seen to want to rectify things. As for Suarez it's all conjecture thus far with speculation now over him "possibly using the word Negrito". The sad part is that when Luis is cleared some of this mud will stick.
  14. I have this mental picture of some sad lonely scruffy little bastard hunched over the keyboard in some backstreet internet cafe "www.liverpo....."
  15. Confidence and mental strength is gained through winning games and/or competitions. Two of the players you mentioned are what age 20/21? Dalglish is building a team here and success will not happen overnight. This thread would probably not have happened if we had manage to convert just a couple more of the chances we created on Saturday - it's a fine line isn't it?
  16. Patrice Evra reveals racist abuseJune 8, 2010 Email PrintBy Soccernet staff New France captain Patrice Evra is happy to be back in Africa - but has revealed the racist abuse he received in his native Senegal. GettyImages Patrice Evra has revealed that he was racially abused for choosing France over Senegal. Evra will lead France out against Uruguay in Cape Town on Friday, but the Manchester United defender decided to overlook Senegal, the country where he was born, to represent France at international level. "I grew up amid a Senegalese culture at home." Evra said. "But we became westernised very quickly and when I had to choose between playing for Senegal or France my father told me to follow my heart. "I opted for France, as that was where I had grown up, but I then came in for lots of abuse in Senegal. "I was called a monkey who grovels before the white man and labelled a money-obsessed traitor to the nation. But my parents helped me get through it. "I had not been back to Senegal since the age of 10. I have still not returned. It is 19 years now and I need an incentive to make me go." Despite the abuse, Evra is proud that the tournament is being held in Africa for the first time. He said: "I have two wishes. I want to win it for France and hope it is a huge party for football and all Africa with no security problems.
  17. I would have Gerrard above Souness and replace Emlyn with Johnny Barnes in your list. Souness had it all and he was a brilliant enforcer when needed , although today he would not get away with a lot of things that he did back then. I'm sure though given his talent he would adapt. I remember Ray Kennedy getting sent off at Highbury in the 1st leg of a League Cup game and afterwards complaining that Peter Nicholas (?) did him. In the return leg Nicholas was carried off after a tackle from Souey - justice delivered. Besty had so much talent and in an era when the pitches were shit and the defenders could kick lumps off you. Under today's rules and on today's pitches I think he would be almost unplayable at times.
  18. Bang on tHe money. I said to my lad they had come to snatch a win the only worry for me is that we are still letting our chances slip.
