  1. I know one or two examples, but it's very rare. However it's common for one party to be more at fault, so accepting responsibility for your own part in things puts you on the same side. I'm not saying that's the case here of course, that's why I said "if".
  2. And talk to her about counselling, if she agrees it's a good idea don't carry on talking about it, book it (Relate are very accessible and relatively inexpensive). Taking that first step is the hardest bit, take it upon yourself to do it for you both, it will be the start of showing your commitment to improving things. All the other stuff will follow and will make the path ahead clearer. Sorry this won't necessarily help you make new friends but may help you get your wife back.
  3. You're kidding yourself if you don't think land is something worth fighting over, history is full of examples. Lebensraum.
  4. Hard to know where to begin with this. One thing I will agree with is the importance of truly listening, hearing, and from there understanding. If you're in the wrong and know it, do not attempt to defend yourself to her, that immediately puts you on opposing sides and pushes you further apart. Admit you're in the wrong, apologise apologise apologise, and show you're committed to making it up to her. And during this critical time never ever make any promise you can't be sure to keep.
  5. There's not much I struggle with more than trying to understand how the opressed becomes the opressor. I consider myself quite an empathic person so perhaps should be able to understand better, but I just can't get my head around it. It's horrific, unforgivable even, I find myself only thinking "of all the people".
  6. Couldn't agree more, unless 5-1-3-1 becomes our default formation next season, which would explain the need for another CB, further negate the need for Johnson to actually do some defending, and explain why we appear to not be looking at a replacement for Suarez.
  7. The release clause for Sanchez will be completely irrelevant as they are set ridiculously high in Spain across the board. Think of a realistic value in the current market and treble it. I think it's a legal requirement in Spain not a bargaining figure.
  8. We agreed to be bound by rules that while not explicitly clear, have always implied club and international matters are dealt with separately, a footballing covenant of sorts. FIFA have broken that covenant and we should publically call them out on it, so what if we suffer in the short term, look where playing nice has got us, again.
  9. If Jean Marc Bosman (who?) can take on the football authorities then Liverpool Football Club can. As long as we do so while making it publically very clear that we in no way condone his behaviour and shout from the rooftops that after all the hard work the club put in its unjust that we end up being punished more than the international team he was representing.
  10. Having read the books, or some of them, I'll only relent on the voice aspect of my Stannis critique.
  11. I'm not getting the Stannis love at all. Apart from being a bore, and miserable, and dour and completely lacking in charisma, he makes bad choices and despite how he views himself he's a bit short on morals. His only plus point, if you can call it that, is that we know he does have the strongest claim to the throne, although to the wider world he too is a usurper. And don't get me started on that voice, if I closed my eyes when he spoke I could easily picture a certain owl faced twat who gets the odd mention on the 'other forum', but with a bit more gruff.
  12. I think most would be happy if he could find a pass, not turn his back on a shot and not hang a limp leg out at a cross. And all would be quite ecstatic if the lazy get put in the effort commensurate with his wage.

  14. Hardly rose tinted . FC brought Suarez up, I said that episode was an embarassment to LFC but added it was silly to compare it to Toure crying because he wasn't made to feel special by his employers on his birthday. As an aside I don't believe Suarez tried to engineer a move to Arsenal, he absolutely wanted to leave and tried to engineer a move to Spain, however when that didn't materialise he thought he was up shit creek. But that's just my opinion, and a discussion for another thread.
  15. I didn't say it was City's fault, I said it was embarrassing to City as it demonstrated what the club is about at the moment.
  16. I'd take Pedro in a heartbeat. Can pay any of the forward positions, is ridiculously hardworking and while he's not your typical flair player is technically excellent. And he's a tenacious little so and so to boot.
  17. Fanchester, you suggested Tevez behaved that way while at Man Utd, I suggested he didn't and only started that shit when he got fed up at City. And if you can't see the difference between a player with Suarez's ability saying he wants a move to play at a higher level (while finishing 7th at his current team) and Toure (one of the highest paid players in the world, just won the league and playing CL) crying publically that the owners didn't make enough of a fuss over his birthday, if you can't see the difference, well I don't know what to say.
  18. Or is that just what they think they need, an arrogant fucker to take over the mantle from Ferguson? There could be a conflict there though, the previous arrogant fucker is still hanging around while the next one waits in the wings.
  19. Yeah and that was embarrassing for Liverpool, but at least in the case of Suarez his situation was more understandable in that he was engineering a move on football grounds. Toure on the other hand is being an entitled prick and showing the kind of respect (or lack of) some would say City deserve. edit- as for Tevez, I don't recall him speaking out or engineering anything while at Man Utd as he was only ever on loan
  20. Still, it is embarrassing for City too as it says a lot about the nature of the club nowadays and shows perhaps why some players sign for you. Not that anyone was fooled into thinking otherwise but it's not great for it to be so publically demonstrated. He'll be off I reckon, the owners won't be pleased he's shown everyone up - but unfortunately that will just be his welcome reward.
  21. He was shit all match. Had nothing to do defensively for the first 75 but still kept fucking up and falling over going forward.
