Premier League Round Up (Oct 8-10 2022)

Another one of these where we didn’t win. Getting sick of it now, it feels like I’ve stepped back in time seven years (Covid season doesn’t count). It doesn’t help when everyone else won either. Chelsea, Spurs, United… I won’t mention City because what’s the point? What they do is no longer relevant to us. We’re back in the chasing pack again now, and not chasing particularly hard.

For the time being we need to worry about catching the likes of Newcastle, Brighton and *double checks notes* Bournemouth! I mean, seriously? We beat them 9-0 and since then they’ve won more games and more points than we have. Fucking hell.

Fair play to Gary O’Neill though. Maybe they aren’t as shite as I thought they were and that it was Scott ‘Scotty’ Parker holding them back with his sour face and complaints about a lack of new signings? I’m not sure I buy that like because man for man they do look like a Championship side, but O’Neill keeps talking about how when it comes to attitude and mentality they’re the best group he’s ever been involved with.

They’ve been fighting and scrapping for him in every game, so maybe they were fed up with Parker. I don’t think it will last but they’ve already picked up more than I thought they’d manage in the whole season so give O’Neill the job, and indeed the Manager of the Year award.

How on earth is Brendan still in a job though? Leicester actually took the lead against Bournemouth but still couldn’t win.

Daka pounced to fire in for his third goal in four. There was a VAR check as he did look a fraction off but the technology showed otherwise. Must be nice to actually have functioning cameras eh?

Frederkicks was then booked for diving even though the replay showed there was contact. This is one of the many reasons VAR is shit. It was probably a pen even though he absolutely made the most of it. Had the ref given that it would not have been overturned because there was contact. The ref not giving a pen is ok, but can you be booking a player who goes down when he’s caught? VAR can’t reverse the yellow card unless they tell the ref he’s wrong nd to check the screen.

It didn’t matter because my boy Billing blasted in an equaliser and then my other boy Solanke nodded it down for Christie to win it.

That Poundland David Luiz Brendan signed looks fucking hopeless. Leicester fans are turning on Rodgers massively now and apparently Leicester have had to cancel the usual birthday dedications they do at the stadium because fans are sending in jars names like Zach Rodgers and Brenda Nout. Pretty funny to be fair.

Newcastle smashed Brentford at St James’ Park. It might have been different had Brentford not had a goal disallowed early when it was goalless. Toney was fractionally offside but let the ball go and didn’t touch it. Mbuemo ran through and scored, but they said Toney was interfering with play. I mean, he was like, and to me that’s offside. But that’s not how it’s meant to be anymore is it?

He made no play at the ball whatsoever and allowed it to run under his foot. That should have stood, but I admit I’m not exactly neutral here because of how much I despise Newcastle. Did you see the fucking banner they had? If you didn’t, have a look at this but before you do, make sure you’ve got a bucket nearby to puke into. Fucking cunts. They’re the absolute worst.

What a proper piece of work that Staveley cunt is. Women in Saudi Arabia aren’t even allowed to drive cars. They have no rights and they get jailed if they speak up about it. Yet this twat is doing their bidding because it pays well. I hate her even more than I hate Eddie Howe. Absolute monstrosity of a human she is.

Brentford were in the game for a long time and had their chances before they capitulated. Having fallen behind to goals from Bruno and Murphy, they pulled one back from the spot from my boy Toney, but Bruno lashed one in from 25 yards and that was that. Tell you what though, Wilson ran offside and had to move out of the way of the shot. Yet that one counts? Fuck off.

Almiron took advantage of a dreadful error by Pinnock and then the poor bastard put through his own net. What a horrendous couple of minutes for him. Some serious Jon Walters shit there.

I don’t like that Bruno Guimares fella. Bleached blonde hair always makes me immediately think “what an absolute wanker” (not you Roger, if you’re reading this) and he’s no exception. I already thought that anyway because he took the oil money to sign for a bottom half team. They probably won’t be bottom half this year, but that’s not the point. Anyone who goes there automatically goes on my shit list.

It doesn’t help that he’s clearly a very good player. As is Trippier, another greedy moral vacuum. They’ve bought well and it’s only a matter of time before they end up going mad and pulling off all kinds of crazy money deals. They just need to crack the top four first and then we’ll have another Man City on our hands.

And get this, they said on MOTD that Eddie Howe has a sign in the dressing room that says, wait for it…. “Intensity is our identity”. I’m beyond fucking livid at this. Cheeky plagiarising CUNT. Not only have they stolen our catchphrase, it looks like they’ve stolen our intensity too, because we sure as shit don’t have it anymore.

Presumably “Plausible deniability of human rights crimes is our identity" was too wordy for him.

My hatred for Eddie Howe just grows by the week. The snivelling little broken nose, Saudi human rights denying, bootlicking Evertonian twat. I’ve been saying for a while that he’d have made a great Nazi and he proves it every time he opens his mouth.

City beat Southampton 4-0. Frankly that’s the minimum I’d have expected. That’s probably level par. I’ve not watched any of it, mainly because we’re playing them and I’m already mindful of what might happen, so why add to that concern by watching them steamroller everyone in their path?

Diego Costa returned to Staford Bridge with Wolves and he got a warm welcome from the Chelsea fans. He was a really good player for them, plus he’s a cunt and Chelsea fans love them.

Havertz opened the scoring with a looping header from a Mount cross. Up to that point Wolves had been in the game and had a couple of good chances they didn’t take. That’s standard for them. So toothless they could be sat in a Newcastle away end.

Pulisic made it 2-0 and then Broja came off the bench to bag his first ever Chelsea goal to wrap things up. Chelsea look good. Their squad is really fucking good and Potter knows what he’s doing. We’ll do well to overhaul them.

Wolves are in trouble. They can’t score and they don’t even have a manager. What’s Mendes playing at there? You’d think he’d have a list of managers lined up but no-one seems to want it. No wonder, they’ve only scored something like three goals all fucking season. That Nunes looks a player, but he’s in a shite team.

What a fucking waster Adama Traore is though. All the ability and physical gifts in the world but he just doesn’t look arsed anymore. That physique and speed is wasted on him, the fucking bum. If I had that body and pace I’d have been absolutely unstoppable, like Brazilian Ronaldo. He’s doing absolutely nothing with the gifts he has, and I hate him for it.

Spurs beat Brighton thanks to a first half header by Kane. Brighton did what they so often do. Dominated the game and didn’t take any chances. They used up a months goal supply at Anfield, the pricks.

Onto Sunday now. Everton took the lead against United but went on to lose. Deservedly so. They were fucking woeful. Because they are. United are still shit too, which makes it all the more galling we couldn’t beat either of them.

Even more galling is this. If United had done this last season then Everton would have been relegated. That’s all it would have taken. For United, Chelsea or Arsenal to have beaten them. Any one of them. That’s how close we were to being rid of Everton for good, because they wouldn’t have come back. Even more reason to hate United.

Iwobi fired Everton into an early lead with his customary one goal per season. Antony scored for the third Premier League game in a row to level it up (good finish) and Ronaldo came off the bench to win it with his 700th goal in club football. I mean, give the devil his due, that’s fucking incredible. He’s still got 300 hundred to go to catch Pele, but in the age of social media that shouldn’t be difficult. Ronaldo can include training goals, friendly games and even TV adverts to boost his tally. Well fairs fair, Pele was counting goals against his kids in his back garden.

Rashford had a goal ruled out for handball late on and honestly, what a fucking joke that is. I don’t blame the VAR because he doesn’t have any choice. It’s a black and white rule whereby if there’s any contact with hand or arm it’s automatically ruled out, but its fucking bullshit. Rashford is tackled, the ball bounced up onto his leg and chest and brushes his arm, there’s nothing he can do and there’s no real advantage.

How is it ok for defenders to handle accidentally and escape a penalty, but forwards don’t get the same luxury? This is what happens when you take judgement and common sense out of it. Then again, with these referees it’s probably for the best.

I really hate that Antony’s face. Every single thing about him just screams out “CUNT!!”.

Speaking of which, Lampard. It makes me laugh seeing how he is with their crowd, giving it the beans and relishing the adulation they’re giving him. That fat tory cunt hates scousers and would drop Everton in a heartbeat if a London club come in for him. Still, keep falling yourself blues, it’ll make the inevitable acrimonious departure even funnier then usual.

Aaronson was brilliant for Leeds at Palace. He set up their first goal for Struijk with a mazy run and shot that hit the post and he then put one on a plate for my boy Bamford, who missed. That miss proved crucial as Edouard headed Palace level soon after, totally against the run of play.

Palace were better after the break and Eze’s fine finish won it for them. Good player him, I like watching him. Same with Olise, he’s quality too.

Dan James is at Fulham, When and why did that happen? Maybe I knew about that and just forgot, but it shocked me when I saw him out there for Fulham at West Ham. It’s not like Leeds are flush with good attackers so why did they let him go? He did alright for them. He wasn’t great but then he was never going to be. He’s decent enough though and I don’t get why they’d sell to a team they’re likely to be competing with.

Edit: Just checked and he’s actually on loan, which is even more mental. What are you doing Leeds?

Fulham took the lead Pereira early on but a contentious penalty saw Bowen equalise. I’d be proper pissed off it that was given against us as when do you ever see refs give pens for jostling on corners? Pereira kept blocking off Dawson before the kick was taken and was pushing his luck, but the actual offence he blew for was a clear foul by Dawson, who just fucking clotheslined him and then fell over. Pereira does nothing but stand his ground and get smashed in the jaw. Ridiculous.

West Ham’s second should not have stood either because the ball definitely brushed Scamacca’s hand and then arm. He gained no advantage from it and it was completely unintentional, but rules are rules. Just ask Marcus Rashford. Yet more inconsistency. Marco Silva was booked for protesting about it, but he had every right to be fuming.

You could even tell by Scamacca’s non-celebration that he knew he’d handled. He stood there looking guilty as fuck, and then when it was given he went nuts. Why would you not have gone nuts to begin with if you knew it hadn’t hit your arm? Honestly, that was a fucking disgrace.

Antonio wrapped it up in stoppage time at the second attempt after he’s fluffed his lines the first time. He also dribbled the ball with his hand like LeBron James as he ran through and somehow VAR thought that was fine. Apparently because it became ‘second phase’ when his first shot was saved that bullied the initial offence. Get the fuck outta here you fucking clown. That’s a blatant, deliberate handball.

The officiating in this game was a fucking disgrace really. Chris Kavanagh was bad enough on the field but whichever cunt was on VAR was worse. Probably that Darren England fraud, the invisible man who never leaves Stockley Park.

Back to back wins for the Hammers who are starting to climb the table now after a horrendous start, but Fulham got hosed bug time here.

Finally, Monday night and a draw between Forest and Villa. I watched none of it as Villa are dull as fuck and frankly I had better things to be watching. I did follow it on twitter and my big take way was that Villa fans really hate Gerrard and Coutinho. Maybe it’s not a true reflection off the fanbase as twitter does tend to give a false impression. If one hundred fans sale Gerrard and fifty thousand say nothing, it’s easy to assume the one hundred represent the majority when they might not.

So let’s put it this way. Villa twitter wants Stevie out and thinks Coutinho is a fucking waster. Much as I enjoy ripping Villa fans I can’t really blame them for either of those views. If I didn’t love Stevie so much I think I’d hate him, if that makes sense. If I didn’t have that attachment and he was managing my club, he’d annoy the fuck out of me with his interviews.

As for Coutinho, what a massive disappointment he is. So inconsistent and flaky. Everyone knows the talent he’s got but he only ever shows it in little glimpses now. I’ve always been of the view that Villa had done well to get him, but actually he’s done well to get a move there because he hasn’t justified their faith in him. He’s playing second fiddle to Buendia, a vastly inferior player but someone who at least wants to make an impact on games and isn’t just happy to amble along through games doing nothing and being subbed.

We got £140m for him. Sometimes I have to stop and think about that and let it sink in, because it’s mental. Daylight robbery. I still miss him from time to time though as he left us with a lot of good memories. No trophies though, they didn’t come until he left and financed the moves that put us over the edge. It’s a shame we don’t have another one we could sell now to do the same.

Great read, but I wish I hadn’t read it, as it’s got me wound up all over again. I’d barely calmed down after that shafting we got from Oliver and VAR last Sunday. Referees and lawmakers  are utterly clueless. Those handball situations are a joke. Plus, compare the handball last Sunday versus the Brentford one and the one Napoli got on Wednesday. The most blatant clear cut penalty is the one not given.
