  1. More speculation today about us possibly signing him this summer. Have to say i'm starting to warm to the idea. He's quick, tricky and scores goals. Added to that he has a mean streak which I think Rafa likes in a player. I'm not saying our players should be overly dirty but they could be a bit more competitive at times and Boa Morte would definitely bring that as anyone who saw his challenge on Saturday would profess.
  2. "Everton have qualified for the CL with substantially less resources than your team." And they didn't have an injury list that would have seen them relegated within half a season. Tw*t.
  3. Steven Gerrard has hinted he will discuss a new deal at the end of the season as he believes Liverpool are now "heading in the right direction" after Tuesday's defeat of Chelsea. The Reds skipper has been one of the driving forces behind the Reds' march to the Champions League final but has long been linked with a move to the defeated semi-finalists. The 24-year-old had made no secret of his desire to win trophies but despite having had his head turned by Blues owner Roman Abramovich's billions last summer, he now looks set to fulfill his ambitions with the Merseyside club. Negotiations over a new contract have been pencilled in for the summer and Gerrard told the Liverpool Echo: "I didn't want any distractions [before the semi-final] and it will be the same before the final. "But I'll be sitting down with [chief executive] Rick Parry and the gaffer and discussing the future." He added: "A result like this helps everyone at the club and we'll have a lot of positive things to talk about. "I've said all along all I wanted to see was the club going in the right direction and this shows we are."

  7. CARRA: CUP FINAL WILL SPUR US ON Paul Eaton 26 January 2005 Jamie Carragher today blasted Liverpool's critics while predicting last night's Carling Cup victory will kick-start their season. Carragher admits he was astonished at the weekend to see and hear the reaction to the Reds' 2-0 defeat at Southampton, which even led one newspaper columnist to brand it the club's worst performance in 40 years. The Liverpool defender was delighted with the team's response as they booked their place in the Cup final last night, and he says the thrill of reaching another Cardiff showpiece will drive the Reds on in the league over the coming weeks. "I read in one of the newspapers it was the worst performance in 40 years at Southampton," said Carragher. "That was the biggest load of nonsense I've seen. To be honest, I took it with a pinch of salt because I knew it was written by a Man United fan. "I've been in the side for eight years. I know the Southampton game was poor, but I tell you what, I've played in a lot of games like that and some which were even worse. "We're fifth in the Premiership, which by Liverpool standards isn't good, but when other big clubs have bad times, I don't see them getting the same stick. "Manchester United and Spurs got relegated in the '70s didn't they? People should bear it in mind that no matter how great your past is, you can have bad periods in football. "To compare us with 40 years ago is ridiculous. We're fifth in the league, in a major cup final and in the last 16 of the Champions League. I bet there are lots of clubs who'd like that. "This result has now given everyone something to look forward to in February. Not only have we got a major final, we've got the Champions League kicking off again around the same time. "Sometimes, I don't know what people expect. The manager's only just arrived. I know we've been inconsistent in the league and I know the manager would like us to have more points. "But he should be judged much later, not because of one bad week."

Is it just me or is anyone else noticing just how infectious this guy is !!! The smile the lad seems to have on his face all the time is great to see.Was amazed at the reaction of the players when he scored on saturday ,to see Gerrard and Risse et al sprint down to celebrate with him was excellent- its very encouraging to see on bad point tho , after stevie g scored ,did he not seem to push Kewall away from him ???

  12. They are useless away from St James. the only thing I can put their excellent home record down to is 1) its cunt of a journey for London, southern and Midlands clubs and 2) The fact away fans are stuck up on the top tier meaning they can give their team virtually no backing.
  13. Another snub for Slur Alex. Kewell, Ronaldinho and Emerton. "Any player in the world would want to play for Manchester United" Alex Ferguson
