  1. Read the update from the bbc posted 20 mins ago. Its saying there was apparent some confusion and Afghans with Visas are being allowed to leave
  2. Tweet unavailable https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/world-58279900?at_custom1=[post+type]&at_custom4=6970A3C2-04E1-11EC-8DE7-46CABDCD475E&at_custom3=%40BBCBreaking&at_custom2=twitter&at_campaign=64&at_medium=custom7 21.20 update Americans are confident that Afghan nationals are being allowed to the air base and considering the us envoy met them yesterday..
  3. Is pointing out what's actually happening them ,defending them? The bbc are reporting the Americans are confident anyone with a pass is getting through.
  4. I'm presuming you didnt see you words..beyond the 31st of August?
  5. It's quite ironic looking back that those most opposed to Blair's wars were the likes of Tony Benn and Corbyn, who have been proved to be right, whilst the Tories were all for them.
  6. Every single news outlet has reported they were cooperating. On the news today it said they were working with the army and stopping people who didnt have the necessary paper work. So your assertion that they were not cooperating is patently untrue I'm presuming you have a link for this latest development?.
  7. I thought it was just corbyn who drove people out of the labour party?
  8. Excellent watch that. Didnt realise the Afghan army were not answerable to anyone and carried out atrocities on their own. Also nails a few of the myths on here that the invasion was in any way a success and the stuff about womens right.
  9. Ah ok. But we view Pakistan conpletely different than Afghanistan? In political terms.
  10. 1 aspect I dont get is the support in Pakistan for extremism ,yet I thought they were a close ally of the west?
  11. as said above ,I think its clear they have considerable support throughout the country. I heard someone on the radio trying to explain the Taliban and saying they are not 1 uniformed entity, they very much very from region to region,so whilst 1 area may not be too pleased with them, another will see them as much preferable to the inherently corrupt gmnt they replaced. It's a very complex situation.
  12. It's almost laughable how much of a car crash this is.An expert was on radio 4 before saying we will still be having problems at Christmas. If someone would have predicted this 12 months ago they would have been laughed at,yet now delays ,food shortages, industries like fishing decimated are met with a ..yeah but what you gonna do?
  13. Someone on here nailed it the other day. The Taliban were fighting for a belief. The army were fighting for money.
  14. As much as people may deny it,I think the media still has a massive influence in this country.
  15. https://www.aa.com.tr/en/europe/uk-says-taliban-cooperating-with-british-forces-in-evacuation/2339144 As I.said yesterday.. its how long this fragile agreement holds and what happens afterwards ,is key.
  16. I'm fairly sure I never said I liked them..I said they were there now and we are going to have to deal with itm I also said they have a degree of support of support in the country which makes the option of simply removing them from power both unrealistic and difficult..as America have proven.
  17. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.rferl.org/amp/the-rise-of-mullah-yaqoob-the-taliban-new-military-chief/30805362.html Moderate is obviously a relative concept
  18. I think there is a degree of support for them in the country which means the situation is not as clear cut as people are making out. The fact is that they are in now and at a diplomatic level we are going to have to work with them.
  19. Well there was an army general on the ground yesterday saying they were cooperating and there is the fact that 1000s of people have been evacuated but you seem to know better. No you are right..every single taliban member is a maniac and every single afghan person detests them. Nuanced thinking like that will see time through this I'm.sure.
  20. Apparently they done deals with the northern tribes in exchange for power sharing, so time will tell how that Pans out. I think the people are utterly sick of war so I'm not sure how likely a civil war is. They seem to be cooperating with the evacuation so far,but fuck knows what will happen when we pull out. Time will tell I suppose. I've read several pieces which state there are moderate forces in the Taliban but it's not 1 entity and tvery much varies from region to region
