  1. Souness is having a mare here. Man United have gotten penalties for less contact all season and last. Don't know why he has to dig out Salah like that. He got kicked on the ankle, it's a foul. Simple.
  2. Love how Jota doesn't give an iota.
  3. Moyes having a big moan at the decision to award the penalty to Liverpool. Sweet sweet tears.
  4. Deservedly man of the match. Pity he isnt registered for the CL.
  5. If we're truly not playing Matip (who is allegedly medically fit), then I'll be surprised if Nat Phillips doesn't play vs West Ham today. He was on the bench ahead of Rhys Williams last weekend. And he would have played in the CL if he'd been registered. Being the more experienced player, I reckon Klopp goes with Phillips today.
  6. They keep trying to spin the narrative. It's all bollocks.
  7. Phillips wasnt registered for the CL squad because we had at the time, 4 other CB options. Then he couldn't be brought in ahead of Rhys because he is 23 years old. That disqualified him from the homegrown under 21s option we could have used him for from the B list. Hence, Klopp's use of Rhys in the CL. In the PL, Phillips would almost certainly be used ahead of Rhys because we registered him for the PL. He was even on the bench last weekend.
  8. Fully agree. Need to manage the minutes of the front 3 especially. I'm ok with the starting line up. Think Klopp was always going to sub them on at some point in the 2nd half. And that's when I fancy our superior quality upfront making the difference as the Danes tire.
  9. Redknapp was just being daft trying to defend Digne. Kamara for Fulham got sent off vs Palace for a similar offence on Saturday.
  10. They are also ignoring the fact that Digne actually kicked him at the start of the move. The ref played advantage. And then the cunt chased after Walker Peters and stamped on him from behind in full run. Indefensible.
  11. So James Rodriguez is starting today after Ancelotti was giving the sob story of him being injured by van Dijk? Thought Ancelotti had more class than that. Seems he's been infected by them bitters.
  12. I know people are entitled to opinions and all that, but considering the fact that Adrian could have easily have cost us a goal three times in 90 mins, I struggle to see how his performance is deemed ok or fine. True, he did a couple basics right and made a point blank save (on a move which would have been ruled offside anyway). However, even the shittiest goalies make good saves occasionally. Kepa for example, still makes some saves despite costing Chelsea a goal every other game. Adrian saved his worst for last when he came out for the cross in the last minute and neither punched or caught the ball. We just got lucky the Ajax player panicked and blasted it over. That was 2 dropped points right there.
  13. Won 2 or 3 empthatic headers towards the end. So it's not just a waste of height either.
  14. Jota and Minamino linked up quite well. Wont mind seeing Jota start vs Sheffield. Would allow us put Mane in the middle and Firmino on the bench. Milner eventually arrived in the 2nd half. Henderson coming on probably helped with that. Gomez was good overall. Fabinho, MOTM. And oh, Adrian made things interesting. In a shitty way.
  15. Dont know what he was thinking there. Almost tackled Gomez off the ball.
  16. Damn, so he is injured again? FFS. Thought he was being kept back for the weekend because he just recovered from covid.
  17. He is categorically the worst official in the Premier League. It was reported in February that he even failed a FIFA fitness test after Mike Riley put him forward for the International list of refs.
  18. It doesn't help either the way IFAB keep fiddling with the rules to complicate issues further. The handball rule is a mess. And the offside thing keeps getting messier. Last season, it was armpits. This season, they are drawing the lines from shirt sleeves. So what happens when a player is wearing long sleeves? Or is there a memo that players shouldn't wear long sleeves any longer? What's to stop clubs messing with their sleeve designs going forward? I do agree with @Barrington Womble regarding the use of VAR challenges like in tennis. It was an idea I also suggested when VAR was originally being introduced.
  19. Definitely a factor. Another thing I'm curious about is what would Coote had done if Van dijk and Mane had been wearing long sleeves? Because they are now apparently using the shirt sleeves as the area to measure their lines from. So if you're wearing a long sleeve, the VAR official would have to guess exactly where a short sleeve would have been on your upper arm? Or are they banning wearing of long sleeves? It's all a shambles really.
  20. Dale Johnson also highlighted how Coote and Oliver have already been involved in very poor decisions previously. And last night, both were at it again. Jimenez kicked out in retaliation at Koch's cock. Coote did nothing and Oliver in the VAR review room also didn't bother with recommending any punishment. Another controversial example of Oliver and Coote being in cahoots.
  21. The long twitter thread from Dale Johnson is informative regarding the offsides. However, note how often he mentions the word "subjective". That's the problem. When it comes to major decisions like offsides, the decision is still subjective and prone to human error. The whole system would always be compromised by the incompetence of the officials. Because the cunts in the VAR review room still end up choosing which frame to use and where exactly to pin the initial line.
  22. There were quotes from Klopp earlier in the year about him being impressed with Phillips' performances on Bundesliga 2. Could have just been mere words though. It seems he isn't very highly rated because we were looking to loan him out again but couldn't sort out any deals with Championship clubs. Thankfully for him, he's been kept on. Hopefully he takes his chance when it comes and it turns out to be one of Klopp's many unlikely success stories.
  23. Even with 4 senior CB options last season, we skated on thin ice a few times because the injury record of Matip and Lovren wasn't great. Someone here already asked- "how many times did we have all 4 of them fit at the same time"?. I reckon it was for less than 10 matches all season. I recall Henderson had to play CB in the club world cup. And Klopp had to temporarily recall Nat Phillips to play in the FA cup against Everton. So it's clear we had issues last season, even with all 4 CBs and Fabinho registered in the squad. I dont know of any serious club going into a season without having 4 proper options at CB. Matip was always going to be a gamble. So I dont understand how people want to justify letting one of those guys go without replacing (i.e Lovren, who despite not been fit regularly, still played 14 games). This is a shorter season, with fewer rest periods. The pressure on the squad was always going to be immense. If there is any season to have a 'bloated' squad, this is the one. Injuries, covid infections and fatigue are all higher risk factors this season.
  24. At 23 years old, he really should be the one pushing to step up as a center back option in van Dijk's absence. Here's hoping he turns out to be Baresi and Maldini rolled in one. Alternatively, we'll settle for him being a taller version of the legend called Ragnar Klavan.
