  1. Usually I agree with what you have to say mate. And a while ago I was a big fan of Tevez but the more I see of him the less impressed I am. He just seems to run around.
  2. ...is a rich man's Dirk Kuyt. What did he do tonight apart from run around a lot? Yet he got man of the match. 1 shot that I can remember and no crucial passes. I'll bet his goal record this season isn't far off Dirk's 7 either.
  3. I'm not saying he's some kind of goal machine, I was replying to him being compared to a lower league player. I'm all for saying he's not good enough, but some people are completely ignoring the contribution his goals have made at times in the last few years, especially in Europe.
  4. He obviously wants to work with the legend that is Phil Brown.
  5. Personally, I think results have caught up with performances. We were getting away with it earlier in the season - not playing well but winning. Now we're not. A lot of people talked about it being title-winning form when we played poorly but won. Not over 38 games though. You have to play well at some point. I just hope it's coming soon.
  6. We haven't actually lost (Spurs in the Carling Cup apart) in games where we've conceded the first goal and we have actually conceded the first goal a good few times. Most of the points lost have been when we've been stuck at 0-0 or thrown away a lead. This, to me, suggests that when we're behind we go for it more, whereas when we're ahead or level we sit on it and "control." Kind of contradicts the notion that the first goal is all important.
  7. Why don't you go home Why don't you go home Your season's over Why don't you go home
  8. I'm not trying to be a smart arse, but I was very surprised when we signed Babel. Not because I thought he was crap, but he just seemed like a very un-Liverpool and un-Rafa signing. We never seem to be in the market for young players with huge potential who cost a fortune. It's usually the mancs or Chelsea who buy these players and ease them in until they either turn out to be world beaters or they sell them on. We never seem to be in a position to do that with young players because our starting 11 is usually not good enough for us to be holding anyone back, so I was shocked when I saw Rafa buying him, because I just couldn't see him going straight into the team from what I had seen of him at Ajax. He's a player who has to be indulged - let him try as much as he wants until something comes off. Liverpool have never struck me as that type of team.
  9. It seems to happen every season in the winter. We get a couple of injuries, a few results go against us and we seem to retreat into our defensive shell and play some god-awful football. It happened under Houllier and it happens under Rafa.
  10. I'd only sell Dirk if I had to or got a great offer. If he's happy enough to be a squad player then great. He can cover any of the attacking positions and you know you'll get 100% commitment and a bit of a goal threat from him. He reminds me on Murphy and Riise. He'll get you a goal but you know he's not going to get any better as a player and you can definitely get someone better than him for the starting 11.
  11. Can I just say, I don't want us to play a weakened team (and by that I don't mean Benayoun in for Kuyt / Babel in for Riera, I'm talking Lucas in for Gerrard, Torres and Alonso "rested") but I fear we might. I'm going to the game on Sunday and I want us to slaughter them. Fucking slaughter them.
  12. I sent an email to a mate yesterday morning joking that Ngog would start up front on his own on Sunday after those 2 goals. Can you imagine if that particular bomb was to be dropped about 3pm on Sunday?
  13. "Everton, Everton out of the cup" would surely suffice, no?
  14. That would be horrible. It's probably good enough to beat Everton actually, but there wouldn't be much patience on offer for some of those players.
  15. Jesus. Forget I said anything! :|
  16. I've never seen Reina on the left wing so I'll take your word for it
  17. To be fair, our strongest team didn't do much on Monday night.
  18. How can he be gash and score more than 100 Premier League goals?
  19. This should be good. We don't have to go mad after the final whistle. We don't have to go mad during the game. We don't have to go mad when we see the team sheet. No, we get to go mad 3 days before the match at what might be the team, according to Dave Maddock. Excellent.
  20. One of Babel, Benayoun or Kuyt should have made the right hand side their own by now. Dirk doesn't have the quality, Benayoun doesn't have the end product and Babel still looks like a work in progress (in reverse if anything.) Gerrard is still our best right midfielder.
  21. I can see something like that happening too. Maybe Yossi starting too. I hope Lucas and Mascherano don't start together in midfield, but I wouldn't be surprised.
