Maybe the idea with Gakpo is for him to be the Bobby replacement longer term, with Darwin staying left wing, where he's looked most dangerous so far anyway. So we're trying to give him as much experience through the middle as possible. I'm really puzzled by the signing and trying to make some sense of it, basically, because I want to believe there is still some kind of long term plan behind our signings and we'll be good again one day.

I think Mount could work in midfield for us. He’s a lot more physical than Harvey Elliott, and he’s much better defensively than Henderson is these days. Although that is not saying much.

We’d be sending them £15m and Keita for Brozovic, they wouldn’t be paying us, surely. They’re probably holding out for just £15m.

As good as Haaland has been I still think Suarez’s 13/14 season will never be topped. Was much more of a complete footballer than Haaland is.

I don’t think he’ll ever get to Alisson’s best level - not many ever do - but he’s by far the second best goalie we’ve had in recent years. Alisson aside he’s probably the best we’ve had since Reina’s first couple of seasons. Goalies can keep going for a lot longer than outfield players so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him give it another year or two here. But he’s more than good enough to start somewhere else in the Premier League.

I’d go with that midfield three and Elliott at the weekend. Play Nunez on the left with Salah through the middle.

We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to spend £40m on Gakpo, but we were apparently fine with passing up the opportunity to spend £40m on Bruno Guimaraes.

The Man Utd owners have taken lots of money out of the club, without doing that they wouldn’t have anywhere near their current level of debt.

And again this window, if we had only £40m to spend, midfield was a more pressing issue than left wing.

We could have spent the Nunez money more wisely, imo. Not getting into the Nunez debate here, but if we knew what the budget was and the needs of the squad, we should have been looking at a midfield option as well as a forward.

We’re favourites on Betfair, so it will surprise quite a few people. I don’t bet against Liverpool, I can’t bring myself to do it, but it looks like free money today.

The injuries have really fucked him over. If he’d been more available he’d have played so much more and could have properly kicked on. This season he’s barely played and when he has he’s been worse than when he first got minutes in the first team. Doesn’t bode well for him.
