You keep mentioning this. The Tories were in trouble long before the Truss budget. They got rid of Johnson because they were nosediving in the polls and unless they rolled the dice they were on course to get hammered at the next election. They didn't suddenly find their moral compass.

Not sure how people imagine that without these pledges to protect business and the rich voters would be put off voting Labour works anyway.
