  1. Got to admit I really like Buendia. I notice he somehow only scored one goal last season but he looks absolute class on youtube. Proper old fashioned number 10. Reckon he could play several roles in our system.
  2. There's one small problem with selling a player for £100m and bringing in someone else equally good for £100m. Agent fees.
  3. Just saw Tony Hall being interviewed. Why was he so evasive? Why not just say we can't do a choral version in current circumstances but expect things to be back to normal next year? Got nothing to do with the lyrics.
  4. He obviously has talent so maybe it's just the injuries. What about the Steven Gerrard Academy in Scotland? He might be the sort of player Rangers have lacked against all those teams camped in their own half.
  5. Woodburn not with the seniors? Not a great sign really.
  6. Yeah - I mean the main thing is one of Fab/Hendo. We don't really need both at Anfield.
  7. Anyone think Klopp may be planning this set up for home games? Fabinho/Henderson Tiago Keita/Ox We don't need excessive defensive cover
  8. We are of course assuming that we aren't in for anyone else. It does seem odd though - £27m for a player Klopp rates so highly isn't huge even for a 29 year old. One thing we often ignore is signing on and agent fees though - we were amongst the highest payers no so long back.
  9. On White - it would be exciting to see a CB who can bring the ball into midfield and initiate attacks. I'm struck by the old videos how often Hansen was involved in setting up goals by creating an extra man. The problem though is that we play with two really attacking full backs so understandably Klopp might not want the CB to be out of position. Perhaps it would be most suited to when teams park the bus at Anfield? Or maybe if we change our approach - say our usual full backs aren't available.
  10. Is it guarantee to buy? I don't really want to see him on loan again.
  11. That sounds fairly generous. If Cardiff had come up through the play offs I thought they might be interested.
  12. He can obviously score all kind of goals, I'd be interested to know what his chance conversion rate is. More like Owen or Origi? Difficult to tell from highlights packages.
  13. Thought I'd bump this although I know it's too late for the BBC team. Clemence Nicol Hansen Hyppia Hughes McManaman Gerrard Souness Barnes Dalglish Rush I've avoided players who were only here for three or four years because I don't think that is enough to be a Liverpool legend. Really you need to have played 300 or more games I think. I played around with the formation but it's hard to look past 4-4-2. Right wing was the hardest spot to choose.
  14. I don't have a problem with Norwich valuing him at £20m. He's their player. Players are only 'worth' what someone is willing to pay. Since we could get Tsimikas for £12m we walked away.
  15. He was alright I think. The problem at that time was none of the defensive signings really came good, too many injury prone players and attitude problems. Who could we have signed. I suppose we might have tried looking abroad for quality defenders but that wasn't so much the trend back then. Perhaps we could have tried Colin Hendry after 1996. Southgate went to Villa from Palace for £2.5m although he wasn't really a CB at the time.
  16. Anelka was a loan so we didn't get rid of him as such. The fact Diouf came in as a replacement suggests a possible panic buy? Collymore was linked to united but they turned him down over concerns with his temperament. We didn't seem to taken such things seriously enough at the time.
  17. Mark Kennedy Igor Biscan Bruno Cheyrou Djibril Cisse It's unfair in a way, you can't blame players for not being world class but they got the hype. I wouldn't include people like Kewell/Balotelli who were obvious talents that didn't work out. The excitement made some sense. The mystery is why the guys above were hyped in the first place. I think the story with Diouf was he was recommended to Houllier by someone he really trusted - Patrice Berges? - and so he went with him.
  18. Even for Klopp 8 midfielders seems an awful lot. We know he doesn't like to have people sitting around. Also anyone else surprised by the apparent lack of interest in free agent Ryan Fraser? I'd have thought some quality side would fancy a punt on him!
  19. If Thiago is independent of Gini then who is going if he's brought in. Milner? He might not want to leave. Otherwise it would be 8 midfielders not including Grujic or Woodburn.
  20. Gini deadline is needed. Not putting fault on either side but business is business. The team is not facing major disruption this summer - he has admittedly played a lot of games and Hendo is currently injured but Keita's end of season form was a real positive.
  21. White looks like someone who'd be a perfect partner for VVD and bringing the ball out would give us an extra option in attack. Latest I heard was that Brighton were really not looking to sell him so he'd cost top dollar.
  22. What people are forgetting about Ox is that this season was always going to be a recovery one. He had a very bad injury. I still think he's at his best driving through the middle and shooting but let's give him another season to see where he is. He might really benefit from a good pre-season
  23. FEG - I don't see us signing Thiago unless Wijnaldum leaves. In which case it ought to be roughly revenue neutral (transfer fee-wise).
  24. You do realise there's this thing called Covid 19? Sort of damaged peoples finances? And neither of us have any idea how much City will be spending this summer - I'm just saying it's possible.
  25. Frankly if certain other clubs are going to splurge the cash this summer it's a p***take. Wasn't the main reason for City's acquittal that it was too long ago? No reason to stop another investigation next year if they don't keep to it. So long as the owners are not taking money out of the club I won't complain.
