  1. Even game. Chelsea look dangerous on the break, but then so do most teams against us if they beat our high line. We've played well, just need to do a bit more from midfield or from that right hand side,.
  2. Much better second half, great goals, we obviously need to tighten up that defence though. Getting 2-1 up and then leaving a player like that completely unmarked on the edge of the box isn't the best defensive play.
  3. Only two players come out of that first half with any credit - Matip and Allisson. Bar the first 10 mins or so, we looked knackered, lacked concentration, second to almost every ball, and lucky to go in level. The crowd haven't been much better. Big improvement needed second half, which I am sure Klopp will make clear.
  4. Think Klopp said before the game 90% wouldn't be enough to beat the team and so it turned out. Half our team, mainly in defence, were not at their best for whatever reason and that meant we conceded three goals. Far play to Brentford who kept going and were effective in how they attacked us, but we had enough chances to put the game to bed.
  5. If we'd defended properly we'd have comfortably won this game. The back 5 have been awful.
  6. Not going to get an easier QF than this! Ukraine look absolutely lost and completely out of place. Looking very good for England to get to the final.
  7. Shoot on target and it's in the back of the net, who'd a thought it!? GET IN!
  8. 5 decent chances now and none on target, damn frustraing...again!
  9. Three good chances spurned already and some awful defending. It would be nice to win a game comfortably!
  10. The crowd back for this might just work in our favour and make Burnley come at us a bit more leaving a few gaps at that back...well that's what I am hoping...
  11. Well that was emotional! Seeing those scenes afterwards, seeing Allison's reaction to scoring and looking up at the sky, in tears.
  12. Just not clinical enough all season. So many chances to win some games.
  13. Frustrating as fuck this. It's the story of our season, just not good enough or clinical enough
  14. Clearly offside with the player standing in front of Allison!
  15. After his tantrum the other day, Mane has been really poor today.
  16. Why is it every team we play throws themselves to the floor and they get a free kick? Yet we have got fuck all this season from actual fouls.
  17. If he's happy to stay it makes so much sense to have this committed defender as part of the squad. He just exudes the right attitude and commitment to the team and is excellent in the air, makes a big difference to that side of our defence. Just wonder though at his age if he would rather play regular football somewhere else. He'll go for a decent fee. Guess it all depends on the money and if we are buying/selling/losing any other defenders.
  18. Hope the front 4 have been practising their shooting all week and nothing else. This feels like it has been one of the most wasteful seasons up front I have seen. If we'd taken a few more of those chances things would look a little better. No idea how this will play out. Like everyone else, hate playing these, so a win would be nice. Think we might have left it too late now for top 4.
  19. Mane has been brilliant up until the past few months where his form has dropped off a cliff. But he's not the only one to have played poorly in this team recently or had massive drops in form, and given what a great player he has been and is, plus the effort he exerts on the pitch, he's one I'd keep for the time being. It's a team game and we shouldn't be scapegoating certain players cos they might not be our favourites (not suggesting you're doing that here btw!). Firmino is a tough one for me. On his day he makes the team click to perfection. His form, however, has also fallen off a cliff for much of the season. Sometimes however we see some amazing touches and play, other times he's passing it to the opposition with what should be an easy pass. He's not as energetic as he was. And this leads me to my main point, I think the team are physically and mentally exhausted, not just through their exertions for the past 2-3 years and amazing achievements, but no doubt are missing the crowds more than any other team. Our style relies on the relentless energy, intensity, quick play, which I would think is best when the adrenaline is flowing through the veins. The crowd helps to inject that into the players and I believe we have been most affected by the dead empty soulless stadiums and football we are seeing as a result of the pandemic, and I can imagine it's hard to reach those energy heights when it feels more like a training game. That's not to excuse the players in any way, they have performed well below par, and the lack of concentration in key moments is the most frustrating part of it for me, both in defence and in the final third. It's not helped by the fact that outside of the first 11, which on its day is arguably the best in the world (or was), we have players who are either regularly injured, not trusted enough by the manager, or just nowhere near the same level. This season has been a complete clusterfuck for so many reasons, but the rot set in a bit earlier than that. I agree with what you've written. Getting continuously shafted by VAR on very marginal decisions, starting with the Henderson goal vs Everton, will eventually get to the players. VAR has sucked the joy out of football, especially when offside decisions are using arms FFS. Then, losing crucial first 11 players to long term injury, most sides would struggle with that, and we struggle more because the drop off is too much to their replacements. When you think about the players we've had out for extended periods, a drop off in form was inevitable, espeically when the manager has tried to fix it playing other players in those positions that are not natural to them to cover for it. COVID has affected all teams, but I do feel we miss the fans the most, shown by the ridiculous recent run of results at Anfield. So all of that, plus tired players mentally and physically from their efforts over the past 2-3 years. I just think they all need a proper break, including the manager who needs time to reflect on the team (who stays, who goes and what to change about our tactics), and the fans back ASAP. It's really unhelfpul having international footie this summer. And then the AFCON next winter. This is why we need a few more players at or near the level of what the first team is capable of. I'm not convinced FSG will fork out for them though, we will see. I am positive though that if this team gets a rest and with players coming back, if they can stay fit next season, we will be up there again.
