Why? The point isn't that Rodgers will go on to be as succesful at Liverpool as Ferguson at Man Utd or that Rodgers is as good a manager as Ferguson. It was just said to point out that even one of the greatest managers ever, probably the greatest, needed time and patience to get it right and turn an underachieving club around.

Another waste of sub bringing Cole on. I really don't understand why Rodgers persists with him. He might be OK at times against the smaller teams in the Europa league but when it comes to the league he is finished as a player and brings nothing to the team. Enrique was more of a threat than him down the left, and I suspect Suso would've been more of a threat there if he was given a game ahead of Cole.

Team Sky are winning because of their budget though? Aren't they? I admit to knowing next to nothing about cycling but it seems to me that they have bought the best riders in the world and therefore have won races and I get the impression that the other stuff they do, in comparison, is quite inconsequential. It would be like Man City pointing to their medical department as a reason for their success, as an example.

I think its because we have changed a lot of stuff over the last 3 seasons. We've had about 4 different teams over those seasons, West Brom have pretty much had the same team since they got promoted. And its not just the line up, its also the style of play, teams like Swansea & West Brom get managers who are similar to the last one so there isn't a period of settling in. Our last 3 managers have been nothing alike, and it means when they first take over the squad most of the players they've inherited don't work in their system.

We were too complacent after going 2-1 up. That has not only cost us the win and qualification with 1 game to spare. It means we will have to take a 1st team squad to Udinese to try to qualify and that means we'll be knackered for the away match against West Ham, which isn't an easy game anyway. And Udinese I suspect will play a 1st team squad against us unlike in the other games because they want to put their players up in the shop window so they can sell them on for big money.

Rodgers definitely tiptoeing around the issue. He obviously meant to get it out there because he put it in his book.

More to do with the fact he is good mates with Rio Ferdinand I suspect. He has been useless this season though for Swansea and he's slow as fuck so hopefully we take advantage of that and Luis gets a goal or two against them and we get a win.

The stick he gets is ridiculous. The dailymail were actually having a go at him for using a notepad in the Arsenal game! Andre Villas-Boas notepad can't stop Tottenham losing to Arsenal | Mail Online I know that people will say what do you expect reading the mail etc but its just a really shit article to attack Villas-Boas for something that isn't even a big deal and shows that there is some sort of media bias against him.

Don't understand what Rodgers is doing with him to be honest. He'll be missing a month at the start of next year with the African cup of Nations so we might aswell get the most out of him before he goes away.

Enrique on the left wing? Can't say I'm convinced by that. Its either that or 3 at the back with Johnson/Enrique as wing backs. Which I'm not convinced by offensively either.

I said Forlan played in behind him. I haven't said anything about anyone playing alongside him. I'm not sure where you are getting this stuff about me admitting that he's been used alongside another striker.

I said Forlan was playing in behind Suarez in my first post on the thread aswell. So not sure what I'd be admitting to as I've been saying it all along. Maybe we just don't have the same definition for 'lone striker'.

The whole Duncan Jenkins thing didn't help but he was on leave since Hurricane Sandy 'trying to sort out his family home' according to an article in the daily mail yesterday.

Cavani only started two games in the copa america, the first two group games, and then the rest of the tournament was played with Suarez leading the line and Forlan behind him as Cavani was injured. If you're going to lie about something at least make it something that isn't easily disproven via google!

I think it was a fair argument last season as he wasn't very prolific and a 1 in 3 goal ratio isn't really good enough for a lone striker. But this season? He's the joint top scorer in the league and has probably been the league's best player so far. This system gets the most out of him, there's no need to tinker with his position while he's in this form. I agree that it would be madness to change his position, especially when Suarez can match any strikers record currently plus bring more to the team.

People keep saying this but he keeps being played upfront on his own for Uruguay & Liverpool. Cavani, someone who loads on here were hoping/wishing that we would sign, was dropped to get Suarez upfront on his own with Forlan behind. Surely if he was actually better around a centre forward they'd get Cavani on the pitch as he's been in lethal form for Napoli over the last 2 seasons.
