  1. He needs to talk less and stop describing mediocrity as 'terrific'. He's obviously media savvy and realises it's important to keep them onside at least as far as his own position is concerned. It's quite common for someone not delivering to talk an awful lot.
  2. Entirely true and it's my concern with our manager. After years of rounding down our expectations we've finally ended up with someone whose expectations seem to be manifestly lower. We need to remember that if we finish where we are at the moment that's nosebleed territory for our manager and backroom staff. I just cannot consider a run consisting of 1 win in 5, being beaten by Oldham in the FA Cup, West Brom at home plus a couple of away draws to Arsenal and City where we conceded leads on both occasions to be described as a 'terrific run'.
  3. Couldn't get to the game last night, but from watching it I was quite surprised by reaction at the end. Perhaps after a steady decline over four years the supporters have had enough? We like to think we're different from other teams support but I'm not sure we're that different.
  4. I know Sturridge is a big loss, his pace and positional play opens up the opposition and creates space. I just don't get where all the tempo, pace and passing precision can go from one game to another? It's not as if West Brom played like Stoke a few weeks ago, they were well organised with very little ambition until the last 10 minutes but its not like they were pressing the hell out of us.
  5. So the manager takes credit when we win or manage a decent draw but not when we lose? His selection was shit tonight and Borini is complete shite. Both his responsibility.
  6. Rodgers really isn't that great unfortunately, we can make all the excuses we like. He comes across as a mid-table Premiership manager destined to have a successful career as a mid-table Premiership side manager.
  7. Disappointing but plenty of time yet. Just shows that our best 11 playing in their strongest positions and we're a decent side but there's not a great deal of depth. Sturridge missing and the ensuing reshuffle and we look back to being very, very average.
  8. As much I dislike him I can't deny that he's an outstanding manager and we'll probably not see the like of him again, thank god. His ability to build teams, gel them together often bringing in players who individually don't seem that special is unparalleled in the modern game. He's also a completely classless c*** who has no problem crossing the line and pushing it as far as he can to gain any advantage. Luckily for us he's not going to go on much longer, speak to genuine manc fans and they have a very disjoined relationship with him. You rarely hear his name sung at Old Toilet, in fact they spend more of their time chanting about us. His relationship with the Glazers, the way he's defended them and his role in them getting a foot in the door in first place has left a very bad taste in the mouth. The view is that the club is just a vehicle for demento, there's very little genuine affection. A manc supporting mate of mine expresses a concern of a lack of legacy, he doesn't even think Ferguson would want the next manager to be successful. His view is that the moment he retires they should get him as far away from the club as possible. I don't believe they'll win 30 titles before we win the next one. Once he goes all bets are off. Whomever comes in will obviously inherit a stong position of dominance but it won't take too much for things to become jittery and the wheels to come off. A few months post demento being unsuccessful should do it.
  9. Superb player, outstanding career, from around 2004-2008 he was for me the best defender in the country and truly world class. He should have been a defacto starter for England during this period. Personally a bit surprised he's going now although completely understand. He's been excellent over the last few weeks and thought he might be able to offer a lot for a season or two.
  10. A bottom feeder if ever I saw one, made a very nice hanger on career earning a huge salary for well bugger all. He was earning near enough a million a year apparently a couple of years ago, god knows what he's on now?
  11. Brazil are ranked 18th according to Fifa so they are going to be shit. I'm expecting an easy four or five nil England win by the end of the night.

That's a very good point, easier to manage than my suggestions.
  13. Yep agree entirely, his England career will continue until he's quietly sold in a couple of seasons most likely to Sunderland.

That's really the key for me too. It's really not that tricky to resolve. - A flat rate cap on all transfer activity per season across all clubs. It doesn't matter what your turnover is, how big your support it, what share of TV deal you get or even whether your geographical location gives you a revenue boost. Every club operates with the same limit therefore preventing any club from financially doping the market and distorting sporting integrity. - With the exception of infrastructure no debt can be placed on a club directly. If you own a club you can borrow as much as you like and invest in your club but the liability remains with the borrower rather than placed on the club. - Ownership is direct rather than indirect, no complex web of management companies masking ownership and debt. - Same with investment, you can invest as much as you like but it's direct. No setting up another company to lend money to the club. You pay your tax on the investment where required and the investment is clear to see on a published balance sheet. Any breach of the above rules results in a ban from European competition.
  15. No they're not but they are still a formidable side, we've been excellent and bossed the game. They can't get the ball. It's been very reminiscent so far of the way quality European opposition have gone to the Etihad and taken them apart over the last couple of seasons. Just hope we get the goals to go with the performance.
  16. Exactly, he was up on his feet complaining as soon as we scored. It wasn't a head injury and he chose to stay down. It was a foul just like the one on Suarez. We should be putting the ball out because an opposition player decides its a foul? Outstanding strike, we look a genuine threat going forward with Suarez and Sturridge. If we can cut out silly defensive lapses....
  17. Not unlike the goal we conceded against United a couple of weeks ago? Poor from Agger playing them onside and then as a whole poor giving Dzeko a completely free tap in. We've played really well here and yet we just don't appear to be able to do the basics. It doesn't matter what style of football we're adopting.
  18. We desperately need a quality defensive coach, sorry but Brendan and his current faceless backroom staff are clearly clueless.
  19. That's the trouble with our new found philosophy, if we don't actually get that much possession we're always vulnerable because we're clearly not setup to defend.
  20. He's not yet back to being the same player pre-injury although his reputation has grown disproportionately whilst he's been away.
