  4. I know no one probably is in the mood for pics from that match but here's a couple of randoms for any masochists amongst us... Gerrard gives us a full demonstration of his range of facial expressions 1. The fuck 2. The fuck *walking* 3. The fuck *hands on hips* 4. What The fuck *arms spread* Torres has been learning SG's expressions but it came out as more of a "Que Pasa?" face. It's a spanish thing. Woyston was also puzzled by how cwap we was weally weally puzzled Gerrard chips in with a helpful "The Fuck?" to clarify things And a "Where the fuck did all the red shirts go?" for good measure Pepe says "How the fuck did that get there?" Ok I'm gonna stop with the really dud captions now You say "Thank the fuck!" Let's leave the last word to Pepe who sums it all up pretty well here

  8. The story doesn't make sense... JT did not win an injunction as far as I know he applied and went to court for several days and was unsuccessful. The story was unable to be published during the 'application' period that effectively gave him a temporary injunction of sorts while the super injunction was sought. Once he was unsuccessful the legal precedent, that celebrities who trade for commercial gain on their public image can not keep material info about said public image out of the public domain, had been set. So long story short, how would any subsequent players following that legal precedent be able to 'win' a super-injunction to hide where they've been putting their knob?
  9. The Kenny Huang thread had just hit 5200 posts when I posted that... so in my defence I can no longer be held responsible for my actions... anyway here's a few randoms from the match...
  10. The Times took an experimental step into a new online subscription model for its content quite recently. A 'brave' or 'foolish' step depending on your perspective of trying to generate revenue from online content. They have locked their content behind logins and therefore reduced their traffic with the resultant impact on online advertising revenue. Since they moved to the model there has been a huge amount of pressure on their journalists to break stories first. To publish content that will draw subs and traffic. As others have rightly pointed out The Times has been going downhill at a steady pace ever since they were bought by Murdoch. They were no longer the bastion of exacting journalistic standards they once had been. However, the decline has gone into free fall since the pressure to convince people they need to subscribe to The Times because they have some "ITK" coverage no one else does, was ratcheted up. The Twitter and related social media PR tools promoting The Times content are just part of their sales strategy. I'm not sure if this is really about individual journalists or individual stories - though I can't be certain - I suspect their main agenda is that they are trying to sell subs and make a go of this new business model.

  16. It's brilliant you've got something to look forward too. No contest really. Ripping Yarns is classic stuff and the testing of Eric Olthwaite is a real fave of mine.
  17. Roy despaired when Torres asked after the game plan was explained for the 4th time... "so where is the treasure again?" oi mate, what about your guide dog? bugger.
  18. Well the options and approach will depend on a few things 1. Has she already told them what she earns in her current role? If not, it's quite easy to say - "I am so happy you've offered me this role and I really want to accept it because you're a great company and this is what I'm really looking for etc etc but it's slightly less than what I'm on now and while money isn't the most important consideration for me and I'm looking forward to working with you (insert more stuff they'll want to hear here) - I have financial committments and wondered if there was any room to move on the salary? If they say no and she wants the job, she can say that she understands but would really appreciate a timeline being put in place for a salary review in six months (but only go to that as plan b) 2. If they know what she was on and they have offered her the same or more - it's a little trickier and you would have to take into account several factors 1. Does she have a skill set in short supply? How hard was it for them to find a suitable recruit? 2. What is the personality of the person recruiting her like and has she built any feeling of rapport with them? If the answer to 1 is yes and the answer to 2 is they seem OK and yes then I would give it the old, I've been offered a job by another firm I applied to and they've offered me a lot more money line, but I would rather take the job with you because of you having such a winning personality haha ok just kidding with that last part, but you know give them all the standard bullshit about feeling their role is such a 'fit' and how enjoying the work and contributing is so much more important than money. (yeah right!) She can then finish with how, even so it has made her rethink what market rates are now for her skills and would they possibly consider reviewing their offer... etc etc etc It's really hard to give advice without knowing the specifics but those two options are pretty safe because not many firms would think you were grasping or rocking the boat asking about money if you say that you are either 1. taking a pay cut to move (if they don't know otherwise) or 2. Have a better offer elsewhere (and it makes you look good that more than one company wants you). If you take the job after floating either of those options they won't think you are too much of a clown either so long as you are a decent liar and phrase it right. So that would be the advice I would give to her.
