  1. I don't think they're anything like H&G , those cunts were known as bad owners even over here. The only good thing any rangers fan would say about Hicks was that he didn't mind paying high for a top class player, but then that didn't matter when he wouldn't shell out for the rest of the team. Gillette, if i remember correctly, was owner or part owner of the Montreal canadiens who were dogshit at the time. FSG's problem is that they're relying on things happening that most likely won't happen, they're naivety is their downfall. FFP is a case of UEFA covering their own ass in the sense that we know clubs will just find a way to circumvent the rules (The city and etihad airways situation for example) and really all they have to do is dress up the documentation to suit UEFA because there's no chance in hell they'll ban the likes of Chelsea, City, Madrid, etc. from their competitions, especially when the idea of a "Super League" has already been bandied about for some time. Now obviously they'd need other clubs to fill out the league, but the thing with that is there would be plenty of clubs willing to do so just to be part of the exclusionary elite, even if it means they don't really have a shot at winning the thing do to their finances.
  2. Yep just brings up the old adage "you don't have to agree with someone's politics to want stick your cock into them".
  3. I get your point, and maybe I'm just being naive here, but I feel like the club is a more attractive purchase if Suarez is still on the books. He's genuinely a top 3 player in the world and assuming whoever would be buying us next would actually want to own and operate a successful football club it doesn't make sense to sell him as it would drive the price down if anything especially as we don't have the expanded stadium yet nor obviously a new one. It really is hard to figure out just where most of the blame lies. On one hand I don't think FSG are as incompetent as our recent dealings might suggest which leads to Ayre and/or the fucking "committee" being the obvious one(s) to blame. On the other hand they're not experienced in the realm of football which is quite obvious by the fact they, at least publicly, keep banging on about FFP which anyone can see is absolute bullshit. Thing is, at the end of the day FSG employ Ayre so if Ayre is the incompetent one then it's up to them to replace him full stop or change his role so he doesn't touch the fucking transfers at all. So as much as I've been in the "wait and see" camp I think FSG have some questions to answer after this shit, they're digging their own grave.* * - of course if we end up making the CL all will be forgiven provided they buy CL caliber players in the summer and keep Suarez.
  4. Ayre had to ride his Harley over there as we weren't about to send a plane to a country in the middle of a revolution.
  5. We'll have a fuck ton of money available in the summer if we don't make the CL as Suarez will be off to the highest bidder. Now, whilst I think we CAN make the CL with our current squad and I didn't think a winger should have been first priority the fact that we look totally fucking incompetent again is very unsettling. After all, we could be rich as fuck and it means nothing if we can't negotiate a fucking deal.
  6. Of course it is, every one knows you can't negotiate with more than one player at a time over the course of a month... On second thought maybe that's just us.
  7. I don't understand how anyone can be so incompetent at negotiating deals in a day and age with instant communication and contracts that can be signed over fucking ipads. Obviously FSG aren't firing themselves, so Ayre either needs to be sacked or reduced to a commercial only role where it's not as time sensitive as a transfer window. Fuck the journos who're covering for him too.
  8. I think they've been hit and miss myself. On one hand we've spent money but not necessarily got quality in (Suarez, Coutinho, and Sturridge not withstanding, I suppose maybe you can add Henderson here now but he's nowhere near the level of Suarez and Sturridge that's certain) whilst on the other you'd think if there was a ever a time for them to buy players it'd be now given the start we had and the obvious lack of depth in the squad. Anyway, I believe that whenever we get confirmation that FFP is the load of shit we all think it to be, they'll be looking to sell us on. In the surprising circumstance where it's implemented as stated then they'll be here for quite a while.
  9. To be fair I think the best thing they could to do to help is fire Ian Ayre (or change his role to commercial negotiations only as a compromise), problem is it's so late in the window that getting someone else in AND buying players is probably not happening.
  10. Of course it would of but to be honest I'd just rather they stop stealing everyone's money in the first place...
  11. That's a fair assessment. I'm of the opinion that Lucas is capable of being good enough (or was before injury anyway) so even if we bought a replacement it wouldn't surprise me if he rediscovered his better form but if he ends up a squad player then that's fine with me too. One of my favorite players and as you've said seems a sound person but at the end of the day it's Liverpool FC that I support not Lucas FC.
  12. Seems they were worried about his knee but to be fair in that region it can be a host of issues. Just going to have to wait and see. That said we've needed a competition/cover for him for ages now so if this forces the issue then a positive can be taken from it.
  13. We all know that no one would give a shit had it been Sturridge or Gerrard doing that, whilst someone like Welbeck would probably get an award for it. They can fuck off.
  14. I think his main problem was that at Everton his main goal was being "better" than us (ie- above us in the table and/or having longer cup runs). At the scum, obsessed with us as they are, his expectations are far more than that, he actually has to win things.
  15. Laudrup is the first name I thought of too when I read Dr. Troy's post. Hope it doesn't happen as I do think he's a good manager, wanted him or Pellegrini when we replaced Rafa and then Kenny. Obviously Rodgers has done well so can't argue with that but Laudrup was definitely a better man for us than Hodgson, of course most on this forum are probably a better idea than Hodgson.
  16. I think a good Englishman like Sam Allardyce deserves a chance at a club like Manchester United. Moyes OUT, Sam IN!
  17. I actually see talent in Aspas, unfortunately for him though he's just off the pace here. Almost everything he does or tries to do is at least half a step too slow for this league, especially with the way we're playing now. Most of the times I've seen him for us I can see what he was trying to do but I can also see that he never had a chance of doing it when he tried it. Like others have said if he was younger then we could give him time but he's 26 and should be moved on for his own sake as much as for ours.
  18. On the right of the front 3 in a 433, on the right of the 3 in the 4-2-3-1 or through the middle in the same formation. Possibly could even play in the middle 3 of the 4-3-3 as long as he's advanced. Basically you can find a place to put him in just about every formation we've had success with, the hardest one being whatever the fuck we call it when we go 3 at the back. As others have said though I doubt very much he'll be coming to us.
  19. The Europa league only serves to fuck up our league campaign though. The extra revenue isn't substantial enough to really increase buying ability and it's not prestigious enough to increase our attractiveness to other players. The only good thing to come from it is that the 2015 will have the winners qualify for the CL.
  20. The three points is definitely vital here, 9 from 15 over the last 5 would have been looked upon as a decent run before we got fucked out of at least 2 points by the officials.
  21. I think most people would be fine with chalking it down to injuries if we had capable back-ups, particularly for the two injury prone players you've just listed. You can argue we do when it comes to Gerrard but Allen is starting to look injury prone as well and Rodgers doesn't seem to trust Aspas to even give him a chance, we'd have been better off keeping Borini and saving the money. Not sure what's going on with Alberto as Rodgers played him earlier in the year, maybe he didn't think he'd be effective against Chelsea but when a kid is given his debut out of position ahead of you it can't be good for your own confidence.
