  1. Like I said before I'm talking about properties not owned by the council, therefore I'm not suggesting this.
  2. It's the level of compensation that's probably the issue. If you have the right to injunct you can expect some serious coin in compensation, sometimes so much it makes redevelopment unviable. Only takes one blue nose!
  3. I'm talking about the houses the club or the council don't own. Ayre wouldn't have mentioned it unless its an issue.
  4. As you can probably tell I don't tend to post much on forums so slate me all you want, however thought there was interesting point raised in ayres interview. He mentions rights to light being a blocker on the afield redevelopment. Without wanting to bore people too much on this it means that where someone's light is impacted from a development they are entitled to compensation. That sounds all fine but recent case law has (or in last 7 years) enabled people whos light is affected (assuming their window has been there for over 20 yrs) to injunct developments (I.e prevent from happening). Further to this, there is now case law which enables people who are affected to claim up to 50% (usually 30%) of developers profit (combined), in return for giving up their right to light. Clearly this can sometimes constitute huge sums. This clearly is highly onerous and it's a massive issue in property development at the minute as people are injuncting developers left right and centre. Put very simply, it seems as if one of the main reasons anfield isn't being redeveloped is because surrounding or nearby property owners are ransoming the club (or threatening to) should they take forward redevelopment proposals. All it takes is one person to injunct and the club wouldn't be able to redevelop even if they had planning consent to do so. Anyway apologies for this thoroughly boring post, you know know why I don't post very much!
  5. Deco for me has been one of the most overrated players of the last ten years.
  6. i'd have him back at the drop of a hat, he was immense for us. sadly i think his missus won't allow it.
  7. he's no different to mike riley. he was exactly the same. anyone have any stats on number of red cards/pens he's given at old trafford over the last couple of seasons.
  8. Sky Sports News understands Rafa Benitez has been sacked from his post as Inter Milan manager after just six months in charge. The former Liverpool boss was only appointed by the Serie A giants in the summer but has failed to impress during his time in Italy. Benitez was handed the unenviable task of following in the footsteps of Jose Mourinho after the former Chelsea chief secured an unprecedented treble of the UEFA Champions League, Serie A and Coppa Italia titles. The 50-year-old has seen his side struggle in league action this season and they are currently seventh in the Serie A standings, 13 points adrift of leaders AC Milan, although they do have two games in hand. Outburst Inter's defence of their European crown has also stuttered as they finished second in Group A behind Tottenham and suffering a miserable 3-0 defeat at the hands of Werder Bremen in their final group fixture. A meeting with Bayern Munich, who Mourinho's Inter defeated in the Champions League final last summer, was on the cards in the last 16, but there will be a new man at the helm for that fixture in February. Benitez was understood to be on borrowed time after his outburst in the wake of the Club World Cup success when he called on club president Massimo Moratti to back him in the transfer market if they wanted him to stay as coach. Moratti has pointedly refused to stand by the Spaniard following his explosive comments and it now appears his patience has run out.
  9. surely the point here is that if it wasn't from the brave men and women who fought for us in the second world war we would have been invaded by the nazis who would have slaughtered our troops, women, children and the elderly. many of us wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for our grandparents. people gave their lives for our freedom. we should respect that.
  10. Did I just read this right?! 'Southampton were without hamstring victim Matt Le Tissier but Carlton Palmer took over as the creative provider. He set up Matt Oakley's fourth minute opener.'
  11. what fucking scum bags trying to sack the board at the last minute. i just hope this deal goes through. what worries me is broughton's comments " I am only disappointed that the owners have tried everything to prevent the deal from happening and that we need to go through legal proceedings in order to complete the sale." does anyone know whether this is in relation to the spat with nesv or with regards to them trying to remove purslow and ayre?
  12. By Dan Roan BBC sports news correspondent Liverpool's board met on Tuesday after it received two new bids to buy the club, BBC Sport understands. It is thought one of the bids is from Asia, with the other from America. A source close to the negotiations said: "Both would significantly reduce the debt and give the current owners their original investment back." But the club's co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett are understood to be opposing the sale of the Reds to either of the two parties. Three independent members of the board - managing director Christian Purslow, chairman Martin Broughton and commercial director Ian Ayre - all favoured a sale and are weighing up whether to accept one of the bids. But it is thought Hicks and Gillett are against accepting either of the bids as neither would see the American duo walk away with a profit. Liverpool were put up for sale by American duo Hicks and Gillett in April with debts of £351.4m. The pair paid £174.1m to buy the club in 2007, while also agreeing to take on the club's debt of £44.8m. It was said to be a new dawn for the Anfield outfit, with outgoing chairman David Moores describing it as "a great step forward for its shareholders and its fans". But little has gone right for either the club or its owners since then. In August there were abortive bids from Hong Kong businessman Kenny Huang and a consortium fronted by Syrian businessman Yahya Kirdi. Many of the club's fans have become increasingly outraged at the pair mismanagement of the club, which is said to be still £237.4m in debt. The Royal Bank of Scotland have set a deadline of 15 October for that money to be repaid or a penalty fee of £60m will be due. If not the bank has the option of extending the deadline once again or decide enough is enough and either sell the club to the highest bidder or put it in administration. Many fans of the Merseyside club are keen to see RBS call in the debt, even if it means them going into administration and receiving a nine-point penalty from the Premier League as a result. Whether these bids signal the beginning of the end of a saga that has blighted the club in recent years remains to be seen.
  13. broughton's going to lose all credibility if this is another hoax. can't help but feel it's horse shit.
  14. $860m - can't see him having the capacity to buy lfc, pay back some debt, invest in the squad and a stadium.
  15. i can't see us getting any buyer who'll completely wipe out our debt and build a new stadium
