  1. It's a "top-level" trophy apparently, according to the beeb, but only when the mancs win it.
  2. That's exactly what I texted my manc-loving mate just before Jones skied it. Ideally, I'd have loved a red card and the mancs reduced to 10 men (Smalling should have walked if that prick Mason was doing his job), but that'll do. David Moyes = football genius!
  3. Because, simply put, the mancs don't want to get further embarrassed if/when the bid is unsuccessful or if there is something they have done wrong/underhand as was the case with the "spanish lawyers". If the bid is made via a 3rd party they can always be in a position to issue a denial and wash their hands off it.
  4. That stopped to be the case when Gollum was appointed a manager.
  5. We miss Flanno more than him - at least Flanno scores.
  6. Exacly what I thought of as well! I was pissed off with Reina for being stupid enough to make that challenge, particularly given that Carra (I think) was covering for him. I had no qualms with the decision as by the rulebook it was a pen all day long and so was this, no matter what others want you to believe.
  7. Journo: David, do you think your team can finish 4th this season and get that final all-important Champions league place? DM: Champions league? Youre having a larf...
  8. I should keep my mouth shut before a match but lesson learned, though in my defence I didn't expect us to be playing with 9 men in this game. Johnson and Aly were fucking shite - from start to finish. Even with them, if Lucas had started instead of Coutinho we might've had a chance. Ultimately though, the bucket stops with Rodgers and for me he takes the blame for trusting our non-existent fullbacks and not playing Lucas from the start. We dropped 2 points today because of that. The derby is a must-win now! I am also hoping the mancs get a draw tomorrow and the bitters lose.
  9. I rarely post in match threads before the actual game taking place, but I am very confident and can't see anything other than a mauling in this match - Villa are fucking shite. I also hope we don't pick up any new injuries to key personnel.
  10. The mancs propaganda machine seems to be working overtime - this article from the beeb tells us The Rapist is fully behind Gollum (no shit!). I won't quote the whole article, but will include this little pearler: "In contrast, Moyes arrived from Everton without a top-level trophy as manager, although that soon changed when United beat FA Cup winners Wigan to lift the Community Shield on 11 August." How desperate can they fucking get? We are counting Community Shield as a top-level trophy now? 'kinell!
  11. Correction - Gerrard was one of the best finishers at the club. He ain't no more. How many goals has he scored so far from open play? How many goals he's had to his name last season? Voted "yes", because didn't like the alternative - Gerrard introduced sparingly in games, only when needed. It is the best for us and the best for Gerrard, given the circumstances. I am confident he will adapt to his new role as he is intelligent and capable. It is, but what's the alternative - he can't play the way he used to - he ain't Gerrard of old (circa 2005) where he is the focal point of our attack.
  12. Maybe the mutants come to their ground with a bag full of old dusty shoes - just in case. The bitters throw house keys, the mutants go with old shoes, each to their own I suppose.
  13. Watch Suarez' reaction when Sturridge strikes the first time (the shot which was saved by the goalkeeper) - you can see he is living every moment of it.
  14. How good is that? I have to admit I am one of those who defended Rafa to the hilt and wanted him back pretty badly, though I am the first to put my hand up and say that Rodgers did, finally, helped me "get over" Rafa. While we haven't reached the dizzying heights of Rafa's tenure yet, I believe it is just a matter of time with Rodgers, provided he continues in the same vein and is fully backed to the hilt by the yanks - the latter still remains a real concern, though, as always, time will tell.
  15. Very impressed with him today. To have the balls to swap Stevie and Lucas and then hook Coutinho off unceremoniously and introduce Sturridge who, lets not forget, hadn't played for god knows how long and put him right in the middle of it all when the game was still in the balance - that deserves to be applauded. Sturridge made an instant impact and, to be honest, without him I am not sure we would have won that game. I said it many times, particularly on this thread, that Rodgers' quick thinking and the fact he is not shirking from change when such change needs to be made are two of his best qualities. It is refreshing to see. Well done Brendan, we are lucky to have you!
  16. What a bloody relief that was! I was absolutely dreading this game, particularly after all teams around us won. When we threw the 2-0 lead away I found myself thinking "here we fucking go". Thankfully, it wasn't to be and I am glad we shook that particular monkey off our collective backs. Our forward play is simply superb at the moment. Sturridge came in and he was like duck in water - no rustiness, no worries. It was as if he hasn't been away at all. Young Raheem was very impressive again and is my man of the match, but special mention needs to go to Brendan Rodgers today. He had the guts and courage to swap Stevie and Lucas, particularly in this game, given that we've never won at this ground in the PL, but also to hook Coutinho off and put Sturridge instead when the game was still in the balance - that deserves to be applauded. Well done Brendan! We've suffered in games like these in the past because of indecisiveness, negative tactics and poor play (remember that Stoke game we drew 0-0 after the "Rafa rant" where Stevie hit the post at the last minute?), but Rodgers was spot on today with his subs and tactics and reacted quickly when we needed to change things. All in all thumbs up for me and I am looking forward to our game at Anfield to give Villa a hiding next week. Onwards and upwards.
  17. Suarez wanted to bite down hard in frustration, but with Rodgers' words still ringing in his ear he decided against it.
  18. The extreme freezing conditions are set to continue over the whole of East US in the next week and with no end in sight, the met are still at a loss as to the actual cause for this highly unusual cold weather front coming from the East.
  19. AP: I understand you are now the new Manchester United manager. Congratulations and I hope you have a long stay.
  20. John Horton needed a rare miracle so Sakho cracked up a smile for him.
  21. 'kinell! What are the Fabio twins doing there - taking lessons from Coutinho?
