  1. OCS caught a train and I bet they didn't even go first class.
  2. There is an element of that, but I'd argue that Gang of Four's influence was immense even though they never really took off in terms of popularity. Their late 70s early 80s stuff still sounds very fresh today as well.
  3. Never saw these and only recently got into them, but they're fantastic-
  4. Stig's done a grand job with the tournament, but there are some glaring omissions, so thought I'd start a separate thread for bands that could have made the final 64. First up for me has to be Ride, probably the best live band I've ever seen. Andy Bell did slum it in Oasis for a while before they reformed, but we shouldn't hold that against him. Next up, Adam and the Ants. I saw him a couple of years back and he was absolutely mustard, they're a lot more spiky and punkier than their most famous songs suggest. Finally, Jesus and Mary Chain- I caught them live in Newcastle a few years ago and they were absolutely immense, even though Charlie looks like a fucking tramp nowadays.
  5. Love The Kinks, this was one of the best outros to a Sopranos episode (the one where Tracy is beaten to death by Richie)-
  6. But I haven't seen her career take a downturn yet, resulting in her desperately taking a role involving excessive nudity and lesbian sex scenes to try and rekindle some of the earlier buzz.
  7. She's just toasting all the kids her fella literally murdered in the last few weeks. Disgusting behaviour.
  8. Yep. It's just infuriating. That Devi Sridhar article I quoted above is a very clear take on what we need to do. Instead we've got these ridiculous wars about wearing a fucking mask in a shop for a few minutes and endless wishful thinking that it's all over based on... well, magic, basically.
  9. It's almost as though the virus doesn't give a flying fuck what you believe. It's fizzling out. It's really hard to catch it. We're all immune anyway. We've probably all had it and didn't realise. It's not that serious. Summer'll sort it. We're British, Goddammit. Super Sunday. Freedom. Young people don't get it. Sweden, Sweden, fucking Sweden. You could be hit by a bus in 10 years time and it'd be recorded as a Covid-19 death. We don't need no stinking masks. Oh, excess deaths are down a few hundred a week after tens of thousands of people have had their lives needlessly cut short. Rinse and repeat. It's like an endless Y2K bug scenario. We take precautions, stop the worst of it then go back to doing exactly the same as before because the precautions were apparently overkill. Except in this case in the UK (and the US), the catastrophe actually happened just a few weeks ago and we're still being fucking stupid.
  10. Hahaha, that's superb. I'll be back to rep the fuck out of it. Wonder if the Geordie Mackem rivalry had anything to do with the savagery of it.
  11. Looks like the Tories' reform of the Lords is to stuff it with their own cronies so it can't cause the government any more bother.
  12. Sensible stuff- https://www.theguardian.com/world/commentisfree/2020/jul/31/the-northern-lockdown-represents-government-failure-on-a-massive-scale-covid-19 Chances of this shower actually organising it? Fuck all.
  13. I did that, but now I have to keep a minimum distance from schools and sports centre changing rooms.
  14. Arya should have slaughtered everyone in this scene instantly.
  15. Damn right you have, mine are in a display case.
  16. You have a collection?
  17. To be fair, quite a few of them inside the shop, including the cashier, should have been wearing masks since birth.
  18. I went inside a shop for the first time in about 4 months today- just the local petrol station. They supplied disposable gloves for handling the pump, there was free hand sanitiser to use on the way in, 2 metre distance signs on the floor for the queue and everyone was wearing masks. Left feeling quite happy that it was still being taken seriously. Just as I started the engine back up, 4 kids aged about 15 or 16 turned up with no masks, didn't bother with the sanitiser, pushed past the woman who was queuing at the door and started wandering about inside. Selfish pricks.
