  1. Before this I said if we play, we win. Well we did exactly that for the first 45 minutes and we’re deservedly 3-0 up at half time. We then did what we seem to have had a propensity to do in recent games and let the opposition back into the contest rather than finish them off. Whether we actually “take the foot off” to conserve energy, or just lose concentration and application I don’t know. If that’s what we are doing it’s a dangerous game. I felt if we kept it solid for the first 10 minutes of the second half we would then be able to get City to over commit and pick them off, but that lasted about 2 minutes and then they were up for it in the following 10 minutes. We then settled it down and by and large were comfortable until Mahrez came on, and it was a bit sticky until the final whistle, bar for two chances we had that really should have been taken, yet weren’t. Fernandinho and Silva were lucky not to have been dismissed, particularly the former for his “tackle” on Mane that was reckless and should have been referred back to the referee, and Silva for persistent, nasty kicks and because he’s a cunt. They plainly miss de Bruyne and although it goes against our way of playing, it might be prudent that we man mark him the next time we play them, if we have a player who can do that. Our passing was off at times, with some players more at fault than others, but overall we were better than them, and should have been given their loss of players and tough game during the week, and we deserved the win, and they will know that. It could just be that this result, and the two draws we have had despite being second best to them, might be the factor that places doubt in their minds and confidence in our minds that we aren’t going away and pressures them into mistakes in later games. We’re in the final, they aren’t, that will annoy them. Allez les Rouges!
  2. Forgive Dossena a lot for those goals!
  3. Trent? Buy a decent RB who’s a bit more solid defensively and would cost less than a midfielder might. Use the difference in money to add to the budget for a new striker if either of Mo or Sadio leave.
  4. RIP to the 97, not forgetting all who have been affected over the years since.
  5. The finish for the disallowed goal in the first half was impressive, when he chipped Allison on the run, that was class. I don’t like the way he (or any other players for that matter) hits the floor too easily, but that seems to be endemic in professional football today, I’m sure Klopp might attenuate that should he ever sign for him. Have to say I think he’s good, but then I thought Ollie Watson was too!
  6. There aren’t many who could, especially if we’re on form. city and Real are probably two who could, but if we play as well as we can against anyone, then we win.
  7. City will be more concentrated on the CL the nearer they get to the final, and they will get to the final I think, so they might take chances in the League and that’s when they may drop points. We have to win all our games to be certain of taking advantage if/when they do slip. They may just think they’ve won it today and that could be to our advantage. We need to be better than today though.
  8. Against most teams our system works, even though other teams know what to expect. City have more technical and tactical ability though and are exploiting our weaknesses ruthlessly, but do we have a plan B to throw them?
  9. Apart from the pass for Jota’s goal, Trent has been a total weakness and they’re targeting him all the time. Klopp has got a job and a half on at half time because they have had our number pretty much from the kick off.
  10. Burnley have never won a premier league game that they have been behind in at half time. For that reason alone they deserve to go down.
  11. It’s Ramadan from 1st April until 1st May, that will possibly have some effect on Mo, Naby and Sadio given the strict nature of when and what they can eat etc.. No surprise Mo’s struggling if he started Ramadan knackered.
  12. So, many journo’s fail to call out City and their Arab owners on shady money dealings, when the owners of another Arabic owned Premier League club had the wherewithal to have a journo who disagreed with them chopped up and put in bin bags. Coincidence?
  13. Sadly I have to admit if there’s one team in world football who could pick us apart, it’s these. Conversely, if there’s a team who could rip them to bits by putting pressure on a defence that is rarely tested, it’s us. We play as we can, and we win. Just do it Reds.
  14. Don’t worry about GOT, by tomorrow they’ll have got over the shock of losing to Burnley and the sabre rattling will start (not literally I hope). There’ll be the usual calls to make the Old Lady a bear pit, get there early to ramp up the atmosphere, “remember the Wimbledon game”, etc. etc. They might not even provide sandwiches in the Brick. I wouldn’t put it past them to actually get a result and prolong the agony.
  15. tommo84 Proud to be loud Today at 10:23 PM #12,356 I keep hearing people connected to Everton talk up the youngster Anthony Gordon, but I don’t see anything special. He’s a diving little shit who runs a lot but just ends up on the floor. Sometimes he gets the decision as he did a few times tonight (inc the first penalty) but if that’s your best player then you’re in massive trouble. Not just us who see it then? Only referees and bloos.
  16. Gordon appears to be perfecting the “art” of simulation and taking it to a new depth. When will these fuckers of referees learn to see through all that shit like ours did last night?
  17. Churlish it might be, but boy, do we seem to be doing things the hard way these days? We’ve won 3-1 away yet, somehow, it still feels a bit disappointing? Probably four goals better than these and it was a stroll in the first half, and even though they came more into it in the second half, it was our sloppiness that got them a goal back and our sloppiness that allowed them to stay in with a sniff until the end. We’ll surely be more focussed on Sunday against City, and we’ll have to be to get the result we want I think.
  18. Should’ve been 4 up at half time, to be fair they’ve rolled up their sleeves this half and got back into it, but only because we’ve been dogshit. There’s still time for us to get at least one more and we should. Edit: We have!
  19. Fucking dire this half. Happening too much when we’ve been bossing games we step off it then struggle. No need.
