  1. Amen. Th FA seem to think that just cos someone dons a ref's uniform and takes charge of a game that they should automatically be entitled to everyone's respect as a professional. They should earn it like every other professional in the world has to earn it.They should also be required to explain their decisions after a match like the managers have to.And for fucks sake FIFA hurry up and give them all the help that technology can provide to reduce mistakes as much as possible.
  2. I know. That's my point. Defenders get away with manhandling attackers at every set piece and cross into the box in every game so if that's a pen today then they all should be pens. They aren't though and neither was that today imo. Plenty of it going on in the Stoke box too, in particular shawcross on Carroll.
  3. If that was a pen then the ref's better start blowing for one at every corner in every league game when every defender man-handles every attacker every time. Shite decision but we should've made sure it didnt matter.
  4. Bloody hell that's exactly like watching my lads team. Most of them are 6 or 7 but they have to play under 9.They get hammered week in week out but none of them care and the parents all enjoy bringing them. We've scored a few goals though. Exactly as football should be at that age.
  5. Is it april 1st? FORMER Ireland manager Steve Staunton is on the verge of returning to Liverpool in a coaching role. Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish, who took Staunton to Anfield as a 17-year-old in 1986, is expected to make the announcement on Monday when he travels over to watch a Liverpool XI play Bray at the Carlisle Grounds. Speaking at a press conference yesterday to launch a Dundalk Legends v Liverpool Legends fund-raising game at Oriel Park on July 23, the 102-times capped former defender confirmed that a deal, which would see him return to work in the top-flight for the first time since leaving Aston Villa in 2003, was almost agreed. When asked if his new club's manager would be in Ireland on Monday night, Staunton -- who played 109 times for Liverpool in two spells fat the club -- simply responded "possibly." Since leaving Darlington in 2010, Staunton has filled a number of scouting positions, most notably for former Irish team-mate and manager Mick McCarthy at Wolves and, from Christmas last year, with Middlesborough. While reluctant to speak about his new job, Staunton (below) was happy to talk about his 21-month tenure in charge of the Irish team and suggested he should have been afforded more time in the job. "We were given certain agendas and we achieved those. We took young players through, we were to improve the seeding and we did that against the teams like the Czech Republic and Germany who were rated sixth and seventh in the world. My record speaks for itself. "I've no problems with the FAI. I got my chance, I gave it a go and I'll move on. "Did it hurt? Everything hurts, but the one good thing is that I know I did my job. I can hold my head up high." Dalglish set to give Staunton coaching job with Liverpool - Soccer, Sport - Independent.ie
  6. A good example is the FIA in formula 1.The rules are set, teams try to find loopholes, invariable they do find loopholes and the FIA then act to close them. UEFA are wasting their time if they aren't prepared to adapt the rules as clever clubs try to circumvent them
  7. It is,especially since it now appears to be £400 million and they have in effect agreed to sponsor stuff that dosent even exist yet as part of it
  8. Exactly, as @swissramble on twitter says, they can distribute the money against various things in a way that suggest each individual part of it was a fair market value. It completely makes a mockery of FFP already.I mean what sponsor has ever wanted to sponsor various areas and buildings around a football stadium before? They get no exposure from it so why would they bother.Just a cover story for City to bend the rules is all
  9. This is what I'd be interested in knowing.Council must be getting a cut. As for the value of the deal itself,if UEFA are true to the rules they will examine the deal,if they believe its worth more than City's true naming rights value then City will have to disregard the excess that UEFA deem it to be inflated by.

  16. It be easier for us oots to plan a trip if we knew there would be tickets available rather than the current situation of booking flights etc months in advance in the hope tickets might go on general sale for the game you want.
