  1. Been better tonight. Did what TK suggested and it was fine but my missus wasn't happy with the wire across the living room so went back to wireless and had about 4 disconnections in 3 hours. Last night it was every 10 mins so maybe its settling down. If not going to have to buy a 10 meter Ethernet cable
  2. I'm not worried about the speed, 20meg is as slow as it drops. It actually loses connection completely for a seconed or 2 and then reconnects. Happens every 10 - 20 minutes
  3. That's worth a try, maybe its the wireless connection thats the problem.
  4. Decided to take the plunge and ditch my 1.9meg broadband and go for BT infinity as its just become available in my area. On their website they said I would be able to get 17 meg download speeds and 2 meg upload. The engineer fitted everything yesterday and showed me I was getting about 22meg. Now this fluctuates between 20 and 30 meg everytime I test the speed which is great but the problem is when I am playing MW3 it seems to drop connection for a split seconed, which kicks me back to the lobby and I get a message saying server connection timed out. The BT engineer did say I may get problems with speed for the 1st week but didnt mention a stable connection problem. Anybody had a problem like this ? Anybody know how I can fix it without spending the next couple of weeks on the phone to some shaved chimp at BT. Cheers
  5. It will connect wirelessly to your Internet easy enough and that will allow your son to play online. Not sure about the amazon deal but if you google cheap Xbox live you should get it for about 30 quid for a years membership. You get a cable to connect the Xbox to the tv but for HD quality you need a HDMI cable. They cost about 3-4 quid in asda or tesco
  6. No need to get anything larger than a 4gig hard drive unless he plans on downloading stuff from Xbox live which is unlikely given he's 10. Even if he does the cheaper option is to buy a memory stick from play or amazon. With regards an extra pad, see if you can get a pre owned one or even a cheap non Microsoft one as his spare. All the kinect games are designed for the "family" so get kinect sports and that type of thing and he'll be fine.
  7. We used to be doing the time trial but I know what you mean. Another trick was use the boost mushroom in races and active it just before the corner your talking about and you would get so much speed the little jump pad would send you flying over the shortcut but as soon as you took off you would need to start turning ready for you landing so you didnt fly straight off the track.
  8. You could but the whole point in the hop was to turn super tight corners at full speed which hasn't been the case with any mario cart ever since. Me and my mate used to have ghost valley 1 down to what we used to think was an unbeatable time and I would get home from work the following day and the fucking stoner would have been puffing all day while playing and would have knocked 2 tenths of a second of the time. Fucking devastated.
  9. Those are mental times. Donkey and Bowser were slow as fuck if you couldn't handle them. Professional users only
  10. It was certainly rated higher by the critics. From wikipedia Since being released Super Mario Kart has been listed among the best games ever made several times. IGN ranked it as the 15th best game ever in 2005, describing it as "the original karting masterpiece" and as the 23rd best game ever in 2007, discussing its originality at time of release.[5][43] The Age placed it at number 19 on their list of the 50 best games in 2005 and in 2007 Edge ranked Super Mario Kart at number 14 on a list of their 100 best games, noting its continued influence on video game design.[12][13] The game is also included in Yahoo Games UK's list of the hundred greatest games of all time which praises the appealing characters and power ups and 1UP.com's "Essential 50", a list of the fifty most important games ever made.[11][44] The game placed 13th in Official Nintendo Magazine's 100 greatest Nintendo games of all time.[45] Guinness World Records ranked it at number 1 on a list of the top 50 console games of all time based on initial impact and lasting legacy.[15] Several sequels to Super Mario Kart have been brought out for successive generations of Nintendo consoles, each receiving commercial success and critical acclaim.[51] The first of these, Mario Kart 64 was released in 1997 for the Nintendo 64 and was the first Mario Kart game to feature fully 3D graphics.[52] Although reviewers including IGN and GameSpot felt that the single player gameplay was lacking compared to its predecessor, the simultaneous four-person multiplexer modes – a first for the Nintendo 64 – were praised
  11. It may be but wasn't it dumbed down slightly? I seem to remember they did away with the little hop you could do to power slide round the corners but I might be talking out of my arse.
  12. No way. Mario kart on the snes has still not been beaten to this day
  13. What are you playing on ps3 or Xbox. I play every night and never get lag on the 360 and my broadband is only 2.5 download and 0.8 upload
  14. Same here, my made is a nightmare for it. He's has even on occasion been found on the kitchen floor covered in shit. His wife goes mental and rightly so. Just signed him up
  15. A good tip is try the silencer. The maps are so small as soon as you pull the trigger they descend on you. With the silencer you avoid that happening
  16. Crossfire is the Russian one you mean. I would like pipeline and downpour from mw1 and terminal from mw2. If overgrown is in fact in the next pack it will be the third time I have paid for it. Activision have a fucking cheek
  17. Are there any larger maps? Apparently the disk contains strike, crossfire, overgrown and high rise which will probably be the 1st map pack
  18. Its Modern Warefare 2.5 rather than 3. If you liked MW2 you will like this. I probably prefered the maps on MW2 but that may be because I know them inside out. On the 360 I havent seen any lag, glitched lobbies or wankers with the tactical respawn. They have toned down the "noob tubes" so you dont get dicks running round just using these. In my opinion they have nailed it considering the mass exodus of infinity ward employees and made a game thats ironed out the things that made MW2 annoying. I know Dynamite has mentioned the UMP but I havent found it too bad. I use the M4a1 with kick and a red dot and find people drop just fine. Perks, slight of hand pro, hardline pro and marksman pro, concusion granade and a bouncing betty which are deadly and you will be good to go
  19. I prefer the red dot but you can now unlock a hybrid sight. Red dot and acog scope combined. Click left and right on the d pad and you can switch between the two
  20. You get a bouncing Betty at about level 30 I think which is similar to a claymore. The main difference is they have to run over it. Still handy if you want to get into a corner and actually snipe as opposed to quick scoping
  21. Deal of the week in blockbusters. £30 preowned. Just bought it and was lucky enough to get one with the online pass.
  22. COD2, COD World at War and both Modern Warefare 1 & 2. The mile high club achievement on MW1 is the hardest achievement I ever got. Not sure is you have tried it but I almost smashed up the TV a few times. Took me hours. World at war is probably the hardest game to complete on the hardest difficulty. I also have the usual suspects in King kong and things like that when the 360 first came out. I cant be arsed anymore though but I will probably try for the 1000 on the new Call of Duty
  23. Don't you find there are too many shotgun spammers?
