  1. thought it might be good to start an 'official' one in the last 24 hours before the polls open. here is an electoral map of the US, with the likely outcome... RealClearPolitics - Electoral Map i can't believe that louisiana, a state devastated by a hurricane and ignored by the administration, would be heavily leaning toward mccain ? that still gives me cause for concern. i am also personally concerned about the possibility of violence, with either result. i really do wonder if obama would actually survive a full term in office. hope i'm wrong.
  2. at the risk of being labeled the oldest, crankiest, most boring person on the thread, i'd have to say that i dislike almost everything that is 'current' and 'popular' in terms of TV and movies....it all bores me to tears. i haven't been to a movie theatre in about five years. i've hardly ever watched network TV shows and the last DVD i rented would have to have been in the 90's * *although the wife has been taking a new found interest in porn videos, which is great. but she buys those, so they don't count
  3. apocalypse later - one man's personal struggle with apathy and procrastination - set in the shed out back, far from the wife. great thread !
  4. now that's an animal i could get behind ! imagine the carnage that would bring to the table...
  5. an animal responsible for more deaths than any other in the history of mankind, an animal that likely would survive and prosper in a post-apocalyptic world, lost to an adopted lab/circus chimp from the south of england ?
  6. from the globe and mail (canada)... Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin was prank called by a Quebec comedy duo who have also fooled heads of state, Rolling Stone Mick Jagger and Microsoft gazillionaire Bill Gates. Palin apparently believed she was taking a call from French President Nicolas Sarkozy, and talked to the pair known as the Masked Avengers for about six minutes, apparently not cluing in until the trick was revealed. "We have such great respect for you, John McCain and I, we love you," Palin says to Marc-Antoine Audette. She apparently does not have such a great knowledge of Canada, however. She does not seem phased when Audette names singer Stef Carse as Prime Minister or comedian Richard Sirois as Quebec premier. Palin suggests that the two go hunting together, and refers to Sarkozy's "beautiful wife," Carla Bruni. "Oh, have we been pranked?" she says when informed that she is not talking to the French leader. The prank call will air on Montreal radio station CKOI on Monday night.
  7. it's my first year and i love it. it's easy to get excited about something you enjoy.
  8. my worry is that the decision of battlefield location will open up all sorts of legal challenges to the competition...and nobody wants to get lawyers involved. in this instance, the fact that the chimp lives in bournemouth does not necessarily restrict him from traveling to the contest site. why would he be allowed home field advantage like that, unless it is some one-off draw like the FA cup ? the blue whale certainly would not have beaten the beaver on land, for example. i would have thought that a voter would best consider the winner based on three locations - one that favours each competitor, and then a neutral venue.
  9. got to be africa - home field for the chimp, but the worst place to meet a mosquito.
  10. i don't dislike all americans either - i lived in san fran for awhile and went to school in montana for a year. i met some very bright, intelligent people there (mostly SF though). i'll be less surprised if they elect mccain than i was when they gave george bush a second term. saying all that, you know your country does not have a great reputation when even canadians start disliking you. scary thing is that, since 9-11, they (mostly) really don't care what the world thinks of them. that's the real problem - isolationism/protectionism. obama is the kind of leader who might actually be able to reverse this worrying trend.
  11. onward and upward...is torres fit ? if so, i think we'll unleash a hailstorm of goals on them - 4-1.
  12. i also predict alan sex is going to have something to say about this one.
  13. i sponsored the horrible little bastard, so i have to vote for him. it's all about stealth - the chimp would never know what hit him until he dies a feverish painful death from malaria weeks later.
  14. camel toe to the abdomen and his (ample) guts spill to the ground. camel with ease.
  15. no fights scheduled for today then ? shame - i needed an outlet for my anger. have to take it out on the kids again.
  16. you didn't vote though ! it's too late - what a tragedy congrats to the eagle - best of luck
  17. cats never spread diseases like the bubonic plague though, do they ?
  18. and just where would we be if it wasn't for cats killing all the rats and mice ? not to mention all the songbirds that wake you up in the morning. it's very short-sighted to suggest that the world would be a better place without cats - they are essential to the well being of our society. the best 30 minutes of TV ever might remind you of the consequences...
