MOMO .... BIG MOMO. Granted the man has been out of form this season, but he's still a beast of a player breakin the play down all over. Do we really need a holding player against the likes of Wigan at home, by playing Mascherano? Momo said himself he plays best with Alonso, he wins the ball and passes to him. His best games have been when he's had someone rite next to him to give quick passes too. He played brilliant a few seasons back, when we reached our record level of points, with him and Alonso in the middle. This season, when he's had a passing player close to him, the likes of Alonso, Lucas (as per Newcastle) he can be very effective. Gerrard plays too far from him, and passing isn't one of Momos great pastimes. While granted Mascherano is a brilliant player too, do we really need a holding player when we play the likes of Wigan, infact a holding player with limited offensive ability of Mascherano is only needed against the big three. We especially need offensive players in our middle, as our forward line (bar torres) is still weak. And Mascherano is just as limited as Sissoko offensivley. But Momo gets up and down. The goals against column is because of the much better defensive organisation, combined with a defensive midfield. IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL last season .... sure there was deflection on the first goal, but it wasn't massive. And i just knew he'd never save the ONE on ONE with Inzaghi, he never saves one on ones, same again at Reading this season. Even though Dudek was awfull towards the end, he'd make some crackin saves, and he was always decent with the one on ones.

I've watched the last two seaons, seen most games live on tele or on the net .... got all the dvd's ... can't recall a save though. Not even a basic save.

While at Anfield at the Portsmouth game, i noticed a few fans around me having a go at Rick Parry. And alot were under the census that Parry never favoured DIC to Moores, cos it meant he would be out of a job. As DIC usually bring in their own executives on most franchises they own. One of the guarentees of Hicks, was Parry would remain in his current position at Liverpool, and keep Moores at the club in some honoury capacity. Seems only human nature you would protect your own back :| Any thoughts on this?

He jus never saves anything. I thort he should have done better with that goal against Derby, something Peter CHech would have saved. Also sure the bramble goal was good, but a world class keeper should be making saves to win us games.

You're rite, i don't think he's ever made a ONE on ONE save, or made a save that made me go WOW. And he's been here 3 seasons now.

I can even recall our reserve keeper making a save, in the Coca Cola Cup against Fat Frank. Still can't remember Reina making a save.

Which are these games he has won for us? It was only last year, that Raffa was quoted as saying he only had 6 games to save himself. But he turned the season around, or shall we say our brilliant defensive displays hardly allowed him any saves to make. And of course the penalty shoot out against Chelsea made him into a hero. If you want to be picky, and i mean incredibily PICKY, the two goals we conceded against Tottenham he should have done better. He should have saved that tame shot by Faberagas, but was suprised at how quick it was taken. He was definately at fault against Reading with that free kick, and well he isn't no Schemichal he never saves the one on ones. Against Man Utd its criminal for a keeper to be beaten 6 yards out without a challenge. Against Derby, the ball was hit straight from the angle, if he had jus stood up it would have deflected against his body, but he fell to one side. OKAY I AM BEING INCREDIBLY HARSH THERE, but if you're going to win the league you got to have a keeper make saves, that in reality weren't too impossible to make. Peter Chec, the amount of saves he makes, 3-4 in a match, and thats with a good defense ahead of him. YOU HIT THE TARGET AGAINST LIVERPOOL - AND ITS A GOAL It's similar to when Kirkland was in goal for us ... you hit the target, and you score. Man remember even Brucie back in the day with his clangers, but he'd make some breathtaking savings too. The thing save Reina, he doesn't drop any clangers, and is great at saving penalties. Granted though he is a massive improvement from what we have had in the past. But i still feel we could improve in this position.

But when would you say he WON us a match, bar a penalty shoot out? Almunia won Arsenal the Tottenham game, superb saves, a penalty save too. Chech bales out Chelsea on so many occasions. I'm not sayin Reina is shit, i'm jus sayin he's never won us a match either. Hell, even the reserve keeper saved a great effort from Lampard in the Coca Cola. I just can't recall Reina making a decent save. It's like you hit the target against Liverpool, and it's in.

Can anyone recall? Before you get me wrong, he's a massive improvement on Dudek, and doesn't make many errors ... but these days any shot on goal always go in. So i'd like you to all cast ya mind backs to when he even last made a save? The goals against Reading, he should have done better, especially from the free kick that went straight in. I didn't think he was blameless with the Tevez goal. Against Derby, i don't think it was a massivley brilliant shot, if he had stayed central instead of falling the wrong way he'd have saved it. Todays too, granted a good shot, but it was hardly a blast. Pepe rarely has anything to do most games, but it's jus frustration i don't recall him ever winning a game for us (apart from Penalty shoot outs), the way chec, almunia, have been winning games for their teams respectivley. How many times would Schmeichal back in the day save a one on one, he used to single handedly win games for them. Hell, remember all those miraculous saves Grobbelar used to make! Maybe because Reina rarely makes mistakes, he's rarely in the spot light. Maybe because we rarely conceed goals and he has nothing to do, as he has a good defensive set up behind him. Anyways, what was the last save he made? It's a collectors item.
