  1. Graham Napier has just taken a hatrick against Surrey in the Pro 40. Also bowled Ponting through the gate earlier for only a few runs. Excellent bowling.
  2. Been listening to Freddies legends on 5live with the fast bowling quartet from the 05 Ashes. Has been very good and gets you in the mood for this time around. Just a shame that neither of the current sides match up to those two. It really was a fantastic series and the programme has recalled some commentary highlights including Flintoff's over to Langer and Ponting which was as good an over as I have ever seen.
  3. Just caught with the cricket as been out. Not pretty. Agree with the general sentiment on here. Can't see us doing much in the Champions Trophy although these things can be a bit of a lottery. We will be buggered Finn and Broad in particular aren't fit. Dernbach is gash. Should give him up. LFD, I think the feeling with Prior is that bowlers have worked him out in ODI's - ie, bowl full to his legs. his scoring area is drives and cuts through the offside. Having said that, I would have got him back in the side. He has been consistently one of our best batman for a long time now.
  4. Fuck me, this show never fails to deliver on absolute fuckwits.
  5. Funny what people like isn't it. As far as I'm concerned Hussain is top dollar and insightful. Of course, we are totally agreed on Knight though!
  6. I agree. Atherton has always offered a great deal of insight, Hussain is really sharp and I like Vaughan on TMS. However, I don't think it is as easy as rolling out every former England skipper in to the commentary box. Really can't see Strauss offering much.
  7. Hartley - what a dick. If Best gets on the plane then all is good. Add Wilko and Gatlands's squad will be closer to what it should have been in the first place.
  8. That's where he has batted for Yorkshire and Eng Lions/A sides. I wouldn't have any worries with him being in there for the 1st test.
  9. I could be wrong but I think he has been doing alright. Certainly recall one ton but think he failed against NZ with the Lions. Agree though. Think he looks capable and would better option than Bopara ever could be - why we have persisted with him is a mystery. I think he needs a year or two of solid performance at county level though. Not sure technically he is in the Root class yet.
  10. Joe Root. He's got the lot from what I can see. Top talent with good temperament. Definitely has a big future at this level. Agree with LFD. If Bairstow performs keep him in and move Root up to open with KP back in at 4. Bairstow not performing and nobody else banging the door down is what will keep Compton in the side.
  11. Absolutely. And for me it still wouldn't be enough. Sometimes it is clearly evident that a player is not up to it. He is a good batsman but I just think he is too limited at this level. It's not as if he is a young player still learning his trade. He's 29/30 and this is pretty much what you are going to get from him.
  12. Think it is a Compton v Bairstow showdown for the last berth for the Ashes. Really want Root up at the top of the order sooner rather than later.
  13. That's not going to happen now! Think 250 would be good enough. Probably worth another 50 on a decent outfield. Swann to do the damage. Not convinced England are all that at the moment. Need to sort out the batting a bit.
  14. Only just heard this now. Terribly sad. A truly inspirational, remarkable woman. Never has rest in peace seemed more appropriate.
