  1. It's tough being a young player. But surely the point is we only need one star to come through for this process to have been a success. If--and obviously it is a huge IF--Pacheco or Bouzanis or Pourie make it through to the first team, then it will have been worth it. Where it all falls down is if Rafa leaves. Any coach will want his own men/players in place... What I don't like is the lack of opportunities given to local lads -- and if they are given, then it is in a no-win situation. I'm a huge believer in Rafa -- but I can't deny that I'd like to see Spearing have a game -- I think he's as good as Plessis -- and Guthrie as well, for that matter. But I'd like them to play in the same situation as Plessis did against Arsenal. With support from experienced players. I think the Academy coaches have done good jobs. The problem is the scouting. And even then, there is hardly a surfeit of Scouse kids making names for themselves in other clubs, so it's hard to see where they have dropped the ball as well. At least it is for me.
  2. Spot on again - it's always a balm reading these after an iffy result. I hope everyone thinks the tie is over. We can definitely do them down there - and Terry won't be as up for kicking Torres all the time. One thing that really stuck in my craw was when the twat stamped on Torres when he was down on the ground. That should be reviewed and he should be banned. Fucking mongoloid shithead.
  3. Hasn't reached Canada yet. But they have forecast a thunderstorm later, so it may be connected.
  4. I thought it was Barry from Auf Wiedersehen Pet for a second
  5. I still can't believe it happened, let alone happened 19 years ago. Life is such a precious thing. We all owe it to our family, our LFC family, to work for justice and to make sure that it can never happen again. Peace. Justice. LFC.
  6. cheers! did you go Dave? good game? Who scored?
  7. Good article to be fair. He's still a twat though  "When you play against Wigan or Everton. I'm sorry, I respect them a lot but the first thing is they work hard defensively and then offensively it is like 'We will see what we can do'. It is always complicated, it is always difficult. These are the games that are going to be most difficult as a player. To be a champion, no matter what happens, you have to win against Middlesbrough and Wigan and Everton. They are the teams that you have to beat. It's no good if you beat Manchester, Liverpool, Chelsea if you've have lost against Middlesbrough and Villa. In our heads we think games like Wigan are going to be easy and when we step on the pitch it is not as easy as we think. It means that in our heads we are not ready." Emmanuel Adebayor: 'That penalty for Liverpool – it was like PlayStation. Why? Because I couldn't believe it...' - Premier League, Football - The Independent
  8. "For a manager whose side had progressed so falteringly, with a formation which so patently did not work" What a twat. This would be the formation that didn't work against Besiktas, Porto and Marseilles, against Inter Milan and Arsenal? The formation that has us going 10 games with 1 defeat of late? Unbeaten against "The best footballing team in the world" ™? Dickhead. And this is just rewriting history: "Liverpool were dysfunctional for much of the game; unsettled, misplacing every other pass and as much in distress as their manager. By the time Benitez intervened, sending on Ryan Babel, the game was beyond tactics." Arsenal outplayed Liverpool for 20-25 minutes - that's all. Arguably Liverpool outplayed Arsenal for the entire second half. What a herbert that dick is. Why would Benitez intervene when Arsenal were getting battered?
  9. Third pair of underwear and its only 8.35 am
  10. After Hillsborough. Went cold turkey for 5 years or so - just the odd game here and there. Gave up my season ticket, moved away, couldn't face it. Moved back to Liverpool for a year in 1995-1996 and got right back into the swing of things. A lot of that was due to the football we were playing then, which was excellent. Plus there were a lot less arseholes around. Sky had a role in that too. Football seemed cool and family-orientated. I lost the fear and started giving myself to it again. Now I'm worse than I ever was. Everything is important. I wake up at night worrying why the U-18s lost to Derby. How will Plessis fit into the midfield. Just where does this leave Jay Spearing. I can only get back home 2-3 times a season, but the fire burns just as bright.
  11. You're talking bollocks mate - he's got great hair.
  12. I agree - and that's fantastic, it is what the reserves are for. What I was saying was that the infrequency of games makes it difficult for injured players to get match practice with them - timing wise. I thnk Kewell and Alonso had a game each (against the ManU), Pennant had a game too - but it doesn't happen as much as it could because there aren't enough games. The plus side is that the younger players get to gel as a team and develop that way. It's just harder for a player who is injured to get a game at the right time.
  13. well, slight exaggeration, but they hardly ever play competitive games any more. I think the season is about 20 games long - and they've had god knows how many postponements in that recently. The reserve system is a shambles - unless players are loaned out, there's no way they can really get competitive games under their belt
  14. Exactly - he's been a bit off by his own standards - but even so, there's nobody else I'd rather have in my team. You can fuck off Terry and Eboue and Ferdinand and Vidic and all of the other flavours of the month. This man is a fucking God.
  15. Can I just say he was absolutely immense today! His second half was Istambulesque.
  16. I agree, he's not good enough. But he's been out for ages and it's sharpness he's lacking. I think he'd have buried that chance if he'd had a few games under his belt. Saying he should play in the reserves isn't really an option though - the reserves only play once every 4 years.
  17. He's learning his trade - learning to use his left foot as well. I reckon he could move to the right flank next season.
  18. I often suspected so with their consistently easy draws, but look at the headlines from the front page of UEFA.com: Roma won’t stand and admire WORLD BEATERS Captain Future Defies UNITED SUPERHEROES Scholes praises “AMAZING RONALDO” For fuck’s sake.
  19. His name is Jamie Beddard, he does have CP - but he still looks like Jamie Carragher... and how do I insert a photo?
  20. In fact, Matt Damon looks a bit like Carragher in that Pic!!! Last weekend I was babysitting (sad fuck that I am) and ended up watching Carries War. In this film is a guy with cerebral palsey (I think) - anyway, he staggers around a bit and can't speak, Mr Johnny his name is. I swear to god, for the first 10 minutes I thought it was Jamie Carragher. He was the exact double of him. The only way I knew it wasn't him was because the dog wasn't whining when he spoke. (well there were other things too...)
  21. Definitely worth it - great films. Probably been said a million times, but Damon doesn't half look like Finnan.
