  1. A twat from Benfica who also happens to be good at stepovers just won the league for the Scum, that's why... By the way I agree we have good reasons to be optimistic....
  2. A nice way of bending the trouth your way that!! Asking price from Porto have been quoted several times in press to be 20+ - Thats why Atletico chose the cheaper option in Simao - £ 15 million - We were obviously in for Quaresma due to all the fuzz in the Spanish/Portugese/English press, however we decided to buy Babel for a fee way lower £ 10-11 million. - Nani moved to United for a sum of around £ 18 million, however only £ 14 million were paid in cash, also he is a lot younger and it seems Demento is putting a team together for the future when Giggs and Scholes has expired. A younger player is more patient in respect to playing time and is easier to form/mold. - Malouda went to Chelsea for £ 13,5 million, way below Porto's asking price. - Riebery went to Bayern for £ 17,5 million, and Bayern got a deal where they pay £10,7 million in 2007 and a further £ 6,8 million in 2008. - Real Madrid is preparred to pay £ 15 million for Robben, way lower than Porto's asking price and he is a quality player who won Chelsea the league two years ago when they played 4-3-3. In other words none of these players were available at the same price as Quaresma, they were all cheaper options.... At least that is what it seems, nobody can predict if Porto is ready to lower their asking price later on! Hopefully he will not end up at any of the clubs you mention, and I seriously doubt it, as the fee is to high and he wants CL football. (Though with west Ham paying £ 17 million for Bent anything is possible) Why the three coaches you mentioned has not moved for Quaresma could have several reasons: Price, system, age are some of the factors that can be part of that equation. Thank God demento hasn't, as we would have been in serious trouble concerning a fight for the title with him and Ronaldo on each wing..... And I just have to add, it's not like coaches have God given right to be the only ones able to spot a good player without questions being asked, Cisse, Veron, Forlan, Morientes, Schevchenko, Ballack aso are all proof of that. these are all good players who have(In the case of some of them - so far)flopped for the managers mentioned. They make mistakes and have their own thoughts and opinions just like the rest of us that do not always pan out. But it seems, according to some people, they are orakles and us forumites are not worthy of questioning their God given gift of spotting true talent - F*** that :notamused: Your comment about Reyes being more attractive than Quaresma is so dumb I actually feel sad reading it.... :wallbutt: Given your reservation for reserve players, why do we/you worship one of the England reserves - Remember we all dream of a team of Carraghers....
  3. Is that a joke, or are you serious? Porto wants to hold on to him, who wouldn't, hence the price tag. Only a few clubs have the cash to buy him, in other words few potential bidders, some of which already have wingers (Chelsea,Utd,Barcelona,Munchen) or they must prioritize other positions in the team. He would be a perfect match for Liverpool because we are crying out for such a winger, it is the position we should prioritize the most with Torres now at the club and we have/had the cash to buy him.
  4. I love it when we beat that demented alcoholic over at Old Toilet in the transfer market, no wonder he is getting pissed off: Liverpool Echo: A lot of other top clubs were after him, so we had to move quickly,” revealed Benitez. “One of those other clubs plays in red, and Lucas told me the other wears blue, but I won’t say which.” Leiva told the manager Everton and United were those clubs, while Atletico Madrid were also hoping to secure a deal.
  5. Sorry about the thread above, here we go: PSV is a big club, bigger than those mentioned anyway..... (Philips Sport Vereniging)

  7. Let's talk to Fortress Investment Group LLC, it'll be known as: Fortress Anfield Stadium
  8. Sure, but we are talking a different class of quality on Alves and Quaresma, thats why they are priced at £ 15-20 Million. Benayoun is a squadplayer Rafa thought were good value, fine but he is no Alves. Babel has lots of potential, hence his cost of £ 10-11 million, but he is no finished article like Quaresma. The big question remains does benayoun and Babel have the quality for us to win the league, that's all that matters... I hope so but I fear that they do not! I just happen to think Quaresma and Alves does have that quality... And please don't give me that crap about him being a flop at Barcelona, I remember another young kid who were also a flop who got shipped out and went on to play for Napoli. :D (Riquelme is another)...(The system, the coach, your age, the league, it all influences the success a player achieves)
  9. At the moment I think we have one to many forwards who are good at holding the ball up, which is important but I would rather we traded one of them for an out and out poacher - Villa or Milito... My choice would be to offload Crouch, but some people would probably choose to offload Kuyt.
  10. You two will get loads of stick tomorrow for starting another wing thread  Let me join in on the fun... Can´t help it, sorry lads.... Agree on Rashid´s comments about Quaresma, and I am bitterly disappointed that we have not signed him! Concerning Alves I think he would improve our right hand side a great deal, as Rafa does not play a first 11(He tends to change formation in order to exploit weaknesses in the oposition or to quel their attacking strenghts... His options would double on the right back right wing positions as well as we would have perhaps the best wing back in the world. He is very quick, great desire to win, tackles with ferocity and a has a good shot... If we want goals comming from the right then he would be our man, as I do not believe for one second that Pennant and Finnan will bag a lot between the two of them this season... Quaresma and Alves were the two players in addition to a world class forward I wanted to see at the club this summer. We have bought Torres who is 23, imagine if we bought these other two who are both 24, damn the future would have looked good.... Other wingers, I think you have mentioned most above Nick, but Joaquin perhaps or Giovanni Dos Santos(he is an unfinished product, but could become a great player, however we need someone to perform from day one). Also Riebery looked lively in the WC last year, however he is now at Bayern M so that ship has sailed.
  11. Why is Demento so angry, of course he wants to play for a BIG club....;)
  12. He has skill though and I hope he does well....
  13. By saying that he "fell over like a sack of potatoes all game.....", what I meant was that he went down as a girl crying all game, now that is hardly a great strategy if you want to get away? Enticing potetial bidders was he;) Unless he is more of a man this time around the PL will eat him alive....
  14. Torres will be our new Kenny and I am waiting for Milito or Villa to take Rush`s place..... I guess they would be in the same price range as well Quaresma could be our new Highway on the wing!! Glory days are comming back ;)
  15. He is, fell over like a sack of potatoes all game.....
  16. If the retractable roof in the old leaked pics covers the whole of the ground, we got ourselves the noisiest stadium to date.... Can't wait 'till we bring home the title in 2010/11 ;)
  17. "just worried about the queues of blueshite walking around kirkdale now developing a nice store of half-bricks ready for the big day. Gotta keep those cunts away from the place somehow." HAHA made me laugh
  18. How can you be bored by "soccer" ;)
  19. Have these picture been leaked we would have all thought they were fake because of the shit quality...
  20. Cannot really get a real feel for the stadium as a whole as the pictures leaves a lot of the stadium to your imagination... The design looks ace, contemporary and futuristic, unique in the same way Valencia's new stadium will be. http://www.stadiumguide.com/valencianew.htm A few things that I am sceptical of though: 1. Pictures looks unprofessional to say the least. The world was waiting for this unveiling, but I think it was pretty amateur like. Anyway 2. The crowd seems to be stuck way to far away from the pitch in that view to the Kop picture. I would have liked it as close to the pitch as possible, and also the left stand does not seem as steep as the right one and the Kop (Could be down to the amateur quality of pics) 3. Never liked open corners at stadiums as noice escape and the stadium seems somhow unfullfilled/half finished. All in all very happy so far, but I like to see to complete plans including the GA outlay before I conclude anything. However I love it in comparison with the old design........G&H thanks!!! Looks like the old design we saw leaked, anyone care to leak them again as they have the overview....
  21. It´s a football cathedral, a place of worship..... It should come with an alter so we can all kneel to the wolf .....
  22. Henry comes to mind, but it seems to me that Malouda and Mancini were his number one targets... Perhaps the price were to stiff for his budget or he did not want to pay over the odds, or they did not want the move bad enough? I also think he had a look at Quaresma, as I doubt there would have been so much fuzz in the Spanish/Portuguese/English press without any truth to it.. Ronaldinho, Alves, Cicinho, Messi, Ronaldo, Robben, Cole, Lennon, Simao are all some players I think he may have preferred... But for obvious reasons some of these are unobtainable Benayoun is probably also meant to play in the hole behind the strikers, but there are planty of player rated higher in this role as well...
  23. Unless you know more than the rest of us, how do you know Rafa has got the payers he wanted? If he could choose freely I very much doubt he would have had Benayoun and Babel as the first names in his notes for most wanted winger in the world.... Chelsea and Man Utd have the best wings in the Premiership and in modern football, and especially in a high paced and physical competiton such as the Premier League this is an absolute neccesity... Now whether it was Rafa who refused to be held for ransom or the budget not big enough to go for the big fishes I don´t know, but I am not convinced we are strong enough in this area to challenge for the title... I think G&H have had a great influence so far, especially concerning the new stadium... A commercial structure seems to be developed, and the new youth structure could be a great gamble.. I am just sick of the Scum and their fans rubbing it in (17 years and all).... I just want us to have a strong enough team to go out and destroy those c****.
  24. Perhaps he is happy, but I am not, yet anyway...... That being said I did not agree with his negative approach to away games last season or that we were not more offensive in the CL final when one nill down. And please don't make this into a Zico wants Rafa out comment, as I would not have had anyone else.... Difference of opinion is what makes this forum interesting, and a coach does not have a veto over what is to be considered a fact
  25. More of this please:thumbsup:
