I don't understand why it is embarrassing, so it's not a blanket ban I understand that. The Landlord/Owner of a Bar/Restaurant/whatever doesn't need the Government to introduce any kind of ban. They can just declare their establishment smoke free. Where I live there are some bars that are no smoking (their choice) and some that allow it. My local pub has recently introduced a smoking ban from 11-2.30pm for lunch and it is working fine.

For me his previous footballing record isn't in issue with regards to his return and can't really be used as justification for it either. Using this logic Robbie Fowler has a better record than Owen so does he 'deserve' to be brought back too? To be honest I don't care how he left us last season, I still believe he could do a job for us and my only sticking point is the amount we have to pay for him and the personal terms involved in the deal. If we can get him for no more than 12m and have the payments spread over a few years I would be more than happy...no idea if this is remotely possible however
