  1. Bill looks like he could rob a bank and the armed police would flee back to the station. The bullets would ricochet off his jaw.
  2. Good man Stig. Goalkeeper is a kicker of a choice. Genuinely two of the greatest keepers of all time in Nev and Jennings. My 93 year old dad is over for Friday night dinner with my mam and he loves these threads. He said Harry Gregg is one of the best keepers he saw live. Elisha Scott was one of our pre-war greats. I'm giving it to Pat Jennings. Irwin has to get in. Outstanding player he was and would probably make a greatest Manc eleven. Have to have McGrath and Lawrenson in as well. Again two of the finest defenders I ever saw. John Charles gets the final position. Obviously never saw him but he's considered a giant of the game. My dad said Johnny Carey was magnificent and maybe he was but I'm not finding a spot for him because McGrath and Lawro were two magnificent players. Loads of class in midfield. My dad says Blanchflower has to be in and like John Charles going on what I've heard I'm putting him in. Giles was the first opposition player I loved/feared/hated. A wonderful player and hard as nails too. The final player is Brady. I loved watching him and that's rough on Keane, who was world class. Up front it's Best, Bale and Rush. Rushy was the best domestic striker I've seen. Bale was a beautiful player and Best is considered a true great. Fair to say all world class. Subs: Nev Ratcliffe O'Leary Keane Whelan Robbie Keane Duff My dad was mentioning Cantwell, Billy Whelan (busby babe) Cliff Jones and Jimmy McIlroy there, but I don't really enough about them. Only found out Burnley won the league in the 60s through looking up Mcilroy on wikipedia so you learn something new every day.
  3. Beautiful that Yorkshire! What a player he was. That Forest team were terrific but he was a level above top team mates. Struck me the amount of great Scottish players there were. I mean if there was a joint England/Scotland team of greats, the Scots might have 7. Actually incredible they weren't perennial quarter finalists/semi finalists/finalists? when you think of how incredible their talent pool was. I mean the greatest spine in our history was Scottish. An all time Scotland, Wales and the two Irelands would be fabulous come to think of it. A thread for Bjornebye to work on!
  4. Domestic 10: Southall (Pat Jennings was better imo but his peak was when we had Clem whereas Nev was superior to Grob). Giles - the De Bruyne of his day. First opposing player I loved/hated as a kid. Hard as nails. Souey said him and Bremner schooled him as a young lad and thought him everything he needed to learn about being a top player. Gazza - a genius plain and simple. John Robertson - a forgotten genius. Brady - A beautiful player. Alan Shearer - a machine. A snidey bastard as a pundit but what a striker. Paul McGrath - a rolls royce of a defender. John Terry * cunt I know but Jesus what a defender.* Roy Keane - a poor man's Souey but a player that still would make a world eleven in his pomp imo. Bear in mind Souey would get in my greatest ever all time international 11 that is meant as high praise. Rio Ferdinand * I know I know but a great player in his pomp* Foreign 10: Ronaldo (Brazilian) - a joy to behold. Him, Ronaldinho and Rivaldo were footballing sex. De Bruyne - the best pound for pound player in the league over the last 5 or so years. Gullit - a candidate for a greatest 11. Maldini- in the greatest 11. Van Basten - enough said. Henry - brilliant player. A candidate for the best player to ever play in this country. Platini - a beautiful beautiful player. Zidane - see above but maybe even better than Platini. Diego - the greatest. Messi - top 3 of all time. Not a definitive list of the greatest players of all time but just players I really liked watching. Pele is the 2nd or 3rd greatest player of all time and Beckenbauer would probably make a greatest ever eleven - maybe it's because I rarely saw them as a kid that I haven't really considered them. Bobby Moore is probably unlukcy as well but I don't remember him when he was really good.
  5. Only joking about Giggseh lads but what an absolute scummy bunch. Scholesy kissing his daughter's toe was another one wasn't it? Strange fucker.
  6. To be fair to Giggseh, all he did was sleep with his sister in law. In the grand scheme of rapists, nonces, pervs and peados, he should be knighted.
  7. This kid is meant to be unreal and we seem to be linked with him. He popped up on some article I was reading on the top 10 u17 players in Europe and then I had a gander at him. Looks excellent. Ferguson would be worth buying when Mo goes even if it means tweeking the formation. Genuinely incredible player at 18. What I like about him most is his intelligence. Redknapp said it right that he is a mixture of so many elite players. I certainly see Kane in him and regardless of what you think about Captain Ingerlund, he is a really outstanding player.
  8. Tell you what An tha, if Mo does go, that's a real statement signing for the Saudis and you have to think it's the first of many statement signings in the next twelve to eighteen months. Guess who that really impacts - yeah Sky the stupid twats!
  9. Jesus, the media are desparate for Mo to go. I suppose it's possibly a huge story for them, but their precious brand, will take a huge hit. Latest is it may go to 200 million. Anyhow, if we sign two very good players today after Gravenberch, I think he's on his way. Right now, I think it's a load of shite.
  10. Fair point td. Gravenberch is an all rounder who can play a variety of roles including the 6. I think he has played that role for Ajax. Maybe, that's the plan here. In fairness, peak Fabinho was world class, so unfair to say if he will be that good, but I am seriously excited about this signing.
  11. Really exciting signing. This kid was a super player at Ajax. He's got bags of ability and exciting to think what Jurgen will do with him. Crazy ability and potential in our midfield now. Feel funny about this window. Our midfield is seriously exciting and young now, but our defence which should be a real lighthouse of experience, brains and cop on for the rest of the team is a bit of a clusterfuck. Feel like I'm committing a cardinal sin here and waiting to get torn apart by the forum, but Virgil is the most culpable. Trent has always been a mediocre defender who was looked after by Virgil, Big Bird, Fabinho, Gini and yes Hendo to allow his world class ability on the ball be a real positive. Now he doesn't have that support. Konate is a real plus and I'd be confident that Robbo will come good again, but Virgil looks like he's stopped loving defending. The easy thing is to blame the injury, but he was brilliant for nearly all of the season when we nearly did the quadruple. If he returns to even 75% of what he was, we'll look a lot more like ourselves back there. Right now, he scares the shit out of me. I'd love a really good centre half/right back and that's stopping it being a really exceptional window, but if we can build on this window in January, it's potentially a very exciting team.
  12. Carol has that Scouse Ma look about her. Great laugh but runs a tight ship and will clobber any fucker that skips the queue. Virgil you daft knobhead, no jelly and ice cream for you today. Only for Darwin, I'd fucking strangle you so take that pout of your nugget and count yourself lucky.
  13. Being honest, if we get those two over the line it's been an excellent window. Macca and Dom are outstanding, Gravenberch and Hincapie are potentially excellent and Endo is a decent squad option. I liked Hincapie the few times I've seen him. Thought Gravenberch was really good at Ajax. He's hit a wall at Bayern but he could take off with us.
  14. Gravenberch looks like a really good signing. 30-35 million for a lad with that much talent is excellent. A top class centre half is a must though, even more than another midfielder.
  15. Can't believe we aren't all over Pavard. Top class player. Only reason must be agent fees or/and wages. Was talking to a bluenose mate who watches a lot of German football. He reckons Endo is a very decent signing for us. Said Slob is going to be world class (I agree). Definitely feel that the midfield isn't too far off. Really don't know enough about Andre or Doucore to know if they have the ability to take a seriously expensive punt on. Didn't see the Palace game last night so can't comment. Really want a centre half. Feel like that is the big weak point this year. Virgil isn't the same player, Konate will have a spell out, Big Bird is likely to have an extended spell out and Gomez will be out for months and is no longer good enough. Hope I'm proved wrong.
  16. Yeah it is tough on him in that sense. An unheralded lad from a German team, when a week ago, we were waking up to box office news of Caicedo. He looks a good player so I'm excited to see him. Dom and Macca are going to be brilliant here. It isn't all doom and gloom, but we definitely need a centre half and a very good one at that.
  17. Got to be honest, the more I hear about Endo, the more excited I get. He seems a very good player. The Bundesliga has had a few flops, but it's a very good league. Celebrated players like Veron and Schevchenko have been flops over here so let's see what this lad can do. 2 more players please though.
  18. Unless we were indicating to Lavia and his reps, we wanted both him and Caicedo, he basically knows we are his 2am shag. Absolute shambles this. Let's be honest a few days ago, most of us would have been delighted to get Lavia in. I really the look of the kid, even if he is a few years away from being elite. He seemed really keen from what we were hearing. Now, he just feels a bit like a 2nd or 3rd choice and regardless of what profession you are in, that is not a good way to get someone in. Obviously, he isn't going to turn us down, but can't say I blame the kid for being more than a bit fucked off. Chelsea will aim to fuck this up and to be fair given what we did to them with Caicedo, we deserve to be taken to the cleaners by them and Southampton. Amateur hour.
  19. Trying to not be biased. Liverpool: More famous and better supported club. Best (at the very least the second best) manager. Superior fans and a more iconic stadium. Better team. Chelsea: A huge club in the modern landscape (hate to write that). Owners who will always spend big. A good squad that is potentially very good. A very good manager. London factor and more of a Latin population etc as well as a lifestyle for the super wealthy that any other English city doesn't have. (I much prefer Liverpool being from here but for footballers I can see the lure of London) Caicedo and his entourage don't strike me as the loyal types. That's not a criticism as there is no loyalty in this business and he owes Brighton, Chelsea and Liverpool fuck all - I'm sure he's a really good kid who had a very tough start in life - good luck to him in a way. That's why I don't buy all this we've given our word to Chelsea shite. They probably want Chelsea to know that they could still sign him because Chelsea are egotistical knobheads who are likely to cave in and give them what they dream of. That doesn't necesarily mean he is refusing to come here. He's just playing it out. Brighton seem to hate Chelsea so that will work in our favour. As I type this, a mate just whatsapped me and said Chelsea are offering 65k more a week. 215 vs 150. If we really want him, i'm sure we can work around that.
  20. Caicedo owes us fuck all. He's a poor kid from Ecuador who has a brilliant talent that has taken him and his family out of poverty. If he goes there, he can fuck off but I wouldn't begrudge him the money. We are a world famous club and rightly or wrongly for a foreign kid, Chelsea are too. He grew up dreaming of playing for Real or Barca probably. Football clubs let kids go every day of the week, often lads born and bred down the road from them. They don't lose any sleep for their shattered dreams. There's no loyalty in this business. If he is fucking us around by not doing the medical, we should pull the plug and move on. Having said that, I would love him here. He's a brilliant talent and could be a huge player for us. Right now, it's all clickbait shite. Sure all morning there was nonsense of whether Kane was on the plane or not, or whether he was staying. It's a journalist wet dream having us and Chelsea seemingly fighting it out for him, even more so with the game coming up.
