  1. Great finish from Suarez. And some shithouse diving from Mascherano (and most other players on the field).
  2. So you don't think us trailing at home to them after an abysmal, gutless first half showing might have added a bit of extra grit to his brief showing? He could well have been sent off in the first half if he'd played, but he could as easily have dragged a far better performance out of his team mates. All conjecture at this stage.
  3. What he did was stupid, but it's fair to assume he would have been a little more level headed at 0-0 and with 90 minutes to play. I thought we were better against Swansea when he came on too.
  4. By the way, fair play to the two lads in the stand who held Mario back when he was going postal at Smalling for no reason. Possibly saved him a second yellow.
  5. I thought we lacked intensity and aggression more than pace for much of today. The loudest roar today was for Gerrard's first challenge. Things like that set a certain tone, especially at home.
  6. Quite a lot in this fixture over several years. We missed his leadership today.
  7. Gerrard's down the list on players we should hear an apology from today. At the risk of being cruel, he was probably more effective than Lallana and Moreno today over his 40 seconds.
  8. I'd give Mig credit for the penalty save and some effective - if scary - footwork when under serious pressure.
  9. Got it wrong today starting Lallana over Gerrard, assuming Stevie wouldn't have been quite so hyped up at 0-0 with 90 minutes ahead of him. He's gotten most things right over the last three months, but today is a big blow in looking for a top four spot.
  10. Mig, Skrtel and Sakho aside, we were below par absolutely all over the park.
  11. Gerrard should reflect on his mate Rooney congratulating Atkinson on his red card.
  12. And you're judging this by a television station's sound edit of the game?
  13. Agree on bringing Gerrard back in for Lallana. Allen and Henderson can do the dirty work in the middle third and I know who I'd want between Stevie and Lallana if there's an early 50/50 to be contested in an attacking area. Plus: Free kicks and penalties.
  14. Harry Redknapp - the father of a recent captain of ours - had a Sun column in recent years. Personally, I find that an awful lot worse than the Henry situation.
  15. It does Bob a disservice to be mentioned in the same breath as him.
  16. He's consistent if nothing else. He maintained his usual impact on big games throughout the second half and all of extra time last night.
  17. I bet Mourinho dreams about winning the European Cup 0-0 with a team of eleven centre halves.
  18. That's some fucking header, well in.
  19. I didn't say he was finished. To expand, I wouldn't be as fearful of him taking over a rival English club in the way that I would be of perhaps Klopp or Simeone. Anyway, what's your opinion? Time will tell, but do you really think it that outlandish that a top class manager (who has emphatically won everything there is to win) might get a little jaded and stale in approach twenty years into a highly pressurised career?
  20. Based on the way Madrid have been playing, I woulnd't have much fear if the current day Ancelotti took over a rival English club. Seems like a great guy, but sometimes a formerly great manager's edge goes blunt. Capello's been phoning it in for years, for example.
  21. I think the domestic and European games are very differerent disciplines, hence Benitez equalling Ferguson's (then) solitary European Cup haul in his first season but largely struggling to dominate league campaigns in the same manner (2008/09 excepted). We were fucking awful in the Champions League this season, but the fact that we're looking like playing in it again next time around takes a bit of the edge off that pain.
  22. Next person to post is Tony Manero.
